thinking of trying DDP Yoga

Three weeks in, my ocasional midback and right shoulder pain is gone, this training really works, it´s quite adictive, DDP enthusiasm is contagious.

I really dig the wake up routine, i´m doing it everyday, is just 10 minutes but feels great.

That's great! Happy to hear about the minimized pain. I also need to start doing the Wake Up routine every day, but I've been awful in terms of going to bed at a decent hour. Most nights, I'm doing DDP Yoga between 1030 and 1130pm.

Thanks for the reply. What's the difference between the Polar ones? I see one for like $44 or so and I'm confused about which one is worth buying.

My wife and I grabbed a pair of Polar F4s (she wanted the purple). They seem to have the features you need during a workout and keep a record of your workouts. You have to use the chest strap though. The F7 might allow you to just use the pulse in your wrist, but it is more expensive. DDP offers a discount on one when ordering the videos, but I don't know its quality.

Has anyone jumped in on the actual diet plan? Are you hungry a lot? I switched to a keto diet just prior to starting with DDP and it seems to be working very well, but I wouldn't mind eating more veggies (though I like the fat focus of keto and have lost significant weight since the switch).

I am early days still, working through Energy! with a fat burner queued up for tonight. I think I might start alternating between the two each day though so that I have something going on each day.

Man, Arthur's smile and DDP's charisma make remaining motivated easy!

You mean FT7? That requires the strap.

Just finished Diamond Dozen. My body is really shaky now with a little euphoria in my head. Hopefully this means I did it right, haha. This was my first DDP yoga work out ever. Day 1 down!

!

What do I get that is so much better for the money between your FT4 and this one:

Good job, man! Welcome aboard! Enjoy the initial enthusiasm and starting high. The key is consistency and to keep it going. Post here to keep us updated!

Usually take the weekends off but im so close to 3x25 push ups that Ill give that a go over the weekend, probably a small run in there too just to keep on top of things. Going to be increasing my DDP Workouts next week from 3 to 4, the 4 will basically be a RHC addition to mondays Energy.

So next weeks its

Monday - Energy RHC
Wed - Fat Burner
Friday - Fat Burner

Then the week after probably add a RHC to the friday Fat burner and the week after look to the next routine on the list, its a slower process than it needs to be but having had issues with long term injury in the past slow works for me.

Sub Goal is to up the pushups to 30 by next weekend and then increase it by 5 every week up to 50 at which point going higher doesnt appeal to me, thats already 150 a day and id like to maintain that while pursuing another activity to gradually get better at, im thinking pull ups.

I started doing 5 times a week now.

Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays I do one of the longer workouts, Tuesday and Wednesday I do red hot core. So far so good.

Oh, and I need to buy a new belt! All of my pants are loose now and they start inching down when I'm walking. I was using the last notch on my current belt already, so I'm really happy to see that I need another one. :)

This right here is the good stuff. Nothing as awesome as the "these pants are waaay too baggy" feeling.

Yeah, I started in absolute terrible shape even that first diamond dozen had me sweating, breathing heavy, and feeling wobbly. I usually figure I started doing something right when I had sore muscles the next day that I didn't even realize I was working out (I'm still surprised when I wake up with sore glutes).

Welcome and keep at it!

Through week 4 of intermediate. Thought I did a decent job with the new positions in Below the Belt but it was still a challenge.

*edit* okay now I just got up again and my whole lower body is definitely sore after that, lol. That kinda snuck up on me.

2 weeks until Diamond Cutter time.

Day 31 today. Rest day.

Here's my 30-day video blog update:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9boE1rjSCw&feature=youtu.be
Great video alucard! I look forward to your future updates! I'm nearing the end of week 3 on advanced and I've chosen to do an optional day of fat burner and I'm adding red hot core to it even though the schedule doesn't say (it's my favorite two videos). Haha wish me luck. I'll probably do a weigh in tomorrow.

Holy fuck Below the Belt kicked my ass today. It was the first one that really left me confused as well, I got lost at times. Oh well, I'll do better next time!

Really ill this weekend so no exercise at all, not sure ill be up for Energy tomorrow either, really hope I dont lose all this progress given how much I have put into it. Ill play it safe and aim for a wednesday return and do Energy over fat burner, no point pushing it too far.

I should finally have this tomorrow. They dragged their feet getting it here, but going by the tracking, it should be on the stoop when I'm getting home from work.

edit: No worries Mr. Cola, you won't lose progress in just a few days. Actually, a few days off can be a positive thing in many cases. As long as it's not a habit.

This scares the shit out of me and why I'm nervous to begin this. Had a bulging disc issue 2 years ago where I never want to feel that pain again. 10/10 pain, immobile for 3 days pissing in Gatorade bottles. As I told my wife if we owned a gun I'm not so sure what I would have done to escape the pain. Never want to go through that again.
A friend threw his back out doing P90x and I fear the same could happen with this program.
I watch the youtube videos of success stories and it seems like back pain will be a thing of the past. What to do?
You should probably have a physiotherapist. My guess is that yoga would probably be great for you, but there may be a few positions you should avoid, and there may be some warning signs you need to keep an eye out for. Consulting with a physiotherapist or a doctor who knows your medical history would be a good idea.

Just started this today, dove into advanced. I'm a heavy guy, but I've done some yoga in the past and have been doing cage fitness since August with some TaeKwonDo.

Did Diamond Dozen and Energy today per the schedule. I was kinda confused with the Diamond Dozen until I realized he's just showing you the positions and the proper way to do them. I'm assuming when Diamond Dozen comes up on the schedule again you just follow the chart, no real need to watch the video again (although sure it wouldn't hurt). Energy was a pretty good workout, if a bit light.

One question I have is what do I do when Red Hot Core comes up? Every other workout is on one disc or another, but Red Hot Core is on all of them. Are they on each disc for convenience or are they different? And if they are different, how are they and which one should you be doing?

Don't worry cola, we all have setbacks. You'll be good!
Looks like I'm out for the week, got a virus that is affecting my equilibrium, absolutely gutted, really hope I can make up the ground.

Thanks for the kind words

I try to do my routines in the morning but it makes me take longer to get out of bed and I feel a lot weaker as well. I'm think maybe working out in the evening may be a better fit but I dunno.

When do you guys workout?

feel better sir ={

Mostly morning, sometimes early morning, and rarely evenings. Early morning is great for me because it wakes me up without even needing a jolt of caffeine.

Man I wish I could do Yoga in the morning before work. But I have a 6:00 AM start time and there is nothing more precious than the minutes of sleep that exist between 4 and 5 am. I just cannot get up earlier no matter how hard I try.

I started doing my workouts in the evening before I go to bed, but nowdays I find that working out immediately after getting home from the office is best for me. I can usually turn that extra post-workout energy into momentum to get some stuff done around the house. That way when I spend the last 2 hours of my day looking at gifs on imgur I don't feel so guilty.

Aside from that, week seven was started today. This Wednesday I'm going to be officially mid-way through the beginner program, which is pretty exciting. I see that Red Hot Core and Below the Belt are going to start showing up in the rotation soon, so it'll be fun to check them out. Fat Burner still gets me with having to modify those push-ups but I can already see that my progress with them has been strong so I'm not worried. I think I should be able to stop modifying them within another week.

Day 34 today. Took 3 days off and jumped back into Energy and Red Hot Core today. Definitely more difficult with the extra days off, but feel good to get them out of the way and now I'm looking forward to getting back into it again tomorrow. May just do a Fat Burner or a solo Energy session.

Have to take today off and hope I can get into Energy on Friday, though its looking more likely the weeks a run out, no exercise at all so far, not eating much at all either. Viruses suck ass.

Fat Burner last night had me going to my knees a lot during pushups, my arms were thrashed from my pushup progressions Monday night!

How are you guys doing these push-up progressions? Just doing a few push-ups every day?

Up by 1 every Monday Tuesday and Wednesday, 3 sets at 3 intervals in the day, start off finding where its hard but not impossible then make that the base, you rise up quicker than you would think.

I just do 150 a day. Either 6/25 or 3/50. I suppose I should jump to 200 though I'm not in any rush since DDP tires me out. Might take the middle ground and go 175

just hit week 7 the week and did Red Hot Core for the first time. Man I am not very limber. I've always had problems over the years with stretching my legs upward, usually having to have my wife help me out so this is a big challenge. One my midsection and legs were not ready for. Didn't help any that I went for a really long walk after being couped up all winter long and my legs and calves are killing me. oh well, just keep moving forward

Day 31 today. Rest day.

Oh dude great job man! Shit I haven't done anything the last two days. No excuses just laziness feels bad guys. First time I've taken days off outside of the weekends. But tonight I'm back baby. Fat burner and red hot core.

By the way it's great to hear about the new guys that are planning on joining us and the other ones who's packages are being delivered. We got this guys!

Day 35 today. Did Fat Burner. I ate a bit too much today and had some roast chicken with fries and some gravy. It was tasty, but definitely not the healthiest choice I could have made.

Likely taking a rest day tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply, joker.

Just did my first red hot core. I was kinda keeping up until the Jacknife position stuff started. Nope.gif. I still got waaay too much gut to stay balanced with my legs up like that. Was turning on abs that I didn't know existed. Definitely going to feel that tomorrow.

Did Wake Up this morning. If I'm going to take a rest day, I figure I can at least get in 10 minutes of stretching to keep things moving.

And damn you guys for being able to do so many push-ups!

Pushups take time! You'll get there. :)

Can't wait for next week, just doing Energy 5 days to stay loose for the Tough Mudder on the 19th. Don't want to go into that sore or overworked!

LOL, yeah, I did Red Hot Core for the first time yesterday. There were several positions where I just did more basic stuff instead or safety zone while waiting for them to finish.

In the middle of week 7. Just did Red Hot Core yesterday and I'm not sure if I was doing it right. Didn't feel the burn that I thought I was going to. After that, bought some running gear and attempted to go out for a run with my friend. I don't think I went much more than a mile, but I was gassed in the first couple of minutes. We'll be running at least once a week now. That the hope haha.

Feeling sore all over today, so I guess something is working. Still have the energy to do more so I'm gonna start incorporating more exercise into the normal routine. Feels good, man.

Good stuff, dude. Keep at it. I'm going to try jogging 2 or 3 times per week once the weather warms up a bit more here.

I did fat burner for the first time this week. SLOW DOWN DDP. Some of it is easier than energy though. I'm in week four and I can definitely feel an improvement. I've lost some weight and can touch my toes without bending my knees.

So yeah, today is the day I feel the pain from RHC yesterday. I've got all kinds of pains in my midsection, and to top it off I've went for long walks anywhere from half hour to an hour each of the last few days so my legs feel like shit along with my stomach. Today is not a good day :(

I can't wait for this. I am in pretty good shape and flexible as hell already, but I want the package here asap.
Shipping from US to EU over the pond is taking its time - if you don't pay 20usd more...

Great to see a lot of people getting involved in this, it seems like the real deal.

Quick (super basic) question- am I meant to be engaging throughout the whole workout or just when he specifically says it (ignition etc)? Should I be doing it through the lunges etc?

As much as possible without going overboard with your heart rate. I think it's in Diamond Dozen where a woman demonstrates the plank position and he can't pull her leg out because her whole body is engaged.

Later in one of the videos, his heart rate gets so high he does a flimsy DC and TD, not engaging anything. So I get the feeling it's up to us (and our heart rate) how much and how often we have to engage all our muscles.

Fat Burner is definitely more about arms than energy was so if your upper body is in better shape I'm sure some stuff may have felt easier since you don't spend as much time in a lunge. Grats on the new mobility!

As I've been going through it I've been using "engaging" as a metric for progress. When you start a new routine it's sometimes hard enough to keep up and it was easy to forget to keep the rest of your body engaged. It's super easy to forget when you are catching your breath :) As I began repeating workouts and things got easier I can spend the mental energy now to remind myself to keep completely engaged on the easier stuff.

Specifically for the lunges it's kinda hard not to engage your legs though. Your legs have to be working to keep you up in that position. If you feel you aren't engaging your legs enough on the lunges I say take try taking the lunge deeper. Check out Arthur. Dude goes deeeep.

This is some great advice, thanks a million.

Yeah, my brain is sometimes in a place of "Well, this is super uncomfortable" as opposed to "CLENCH EVERYTHING", I guess the more I do the workouts the more time I can dedicate to the latter.
