thinking of trying DDP Yoga

I'm an exotic dancer, but stripper sounds less pretentious. Checking out my profile, I see.

dancing is paying for me to get my masters in astronautical engineering, so I'll dance my way all the way to my PhD

Good for you girl. I was a Stripper DJ for 10 years. Bar food and lots of sitting contributed to me packing on the pounds.

Can't hate on that! Keep doing what you do. I have a question though, anyone can answer. how long are these yoga sessions generally?

Has anyone tried this post-surgery/injury? I will talk to my surgeon about it, but I was curious if anyone had anecdotal experiences to share. I'm having hip surgery in a few weeks so I won't be able to do a lot of high impact exercise afterward. I already have a recumbent stationary bike at home and was hoping to supplement that exercise with something different.

I pulled a tendon in my right arm and leg, have a bad shoulder, and nerve damage that affects practically all my back (I've got awful luck lol), and doing DDP Yoga is probably the only thing that has ever really worked for me. I've done a couple months of physical therapy and that helped ease the pain just a bit. Doing DDP Yoga makes me completely forget I have any injuries.

I shattered my hip and have a 14 inch plate that runs along the ball and down my femur. The exercise bike used to be my favorite cardio activity pre-hip shattering but it's too painful to do now. You might want to reconsider the exercise bike as your workout of choice afterwards.

About 30ish minutes. I believe none of the videos are more than an hour.

Some of the videos like wakeup & red hot core are closer to 10 minutes.
Think of them like addons, or a morning routine to get you started (wakeup)

Speaking of...
Dat Red Hot Core.

Wow, whooped the crap out my ass (stomach). Throw in a higher-level modification and it's like turning a dial from 40 to 120!
Also I'm having a hell of a time straightening my legs while lifting. There's always some bend. Guess that'll work itself out in time.

Did the Diamond Dozen yesterday, seemed relatively easy at the time (albeit most positions had to be modified for my flexibility) but today I am feeling it, I was surprised by the workout sheet recommending skipping a day after each workout but I can see why, whole body is tired and stiff. Working to take gluten out of my diet as phase one of my nutrition, phase two is adding more protein and phase 3 is removing the junk food, I understand phase 3 is probably the most important but if I try too much at once I will find it too hard. Currently eating more fruit and vegetables, drinking lots of water.

Really hope this helps

Gonna use this thread to update on my progress over the weeks

I sprung for the Max pack using the Austin code to let friends borrow and get them hooked, and to keep the Extreme DVDs for myself. Win win!

Arm is still banged up, I didn't rest it like I should have last week and just used it like normal (but didn't work out), now that I actually told myself to stop lifting shit or moving it like it's just fine, it's feeling a ton better. Hopefully I'll be back to DDPYoga next week!

I think I'm going to put an official OT together. I'd do it today, but I'm bogged w/ work thanks to the network outages from the winter storm. Unless someone else wants to put it together. But it seems there's a lot of us that are giving it a shot, or have been doing it for a while. Great way to track our progress.

Why? This thread seems to be doing pretty awesome.

Wait there was an actual code? I just went to the url and got my 69 dollar pack. Did I miss out on more discounts?

I've been tinking about this. I was in my best shape 3-4 years ago and It's been a steady decline since I graduated school. I don't have a ton of time, or space to work and I can't get the motivation to jump back on the bike. I need something I can do at night in a reasonable time

Ah, no, I mispoke. Should have said link. The actual link itself put a code into their system when you checked out to give the discount. You got the best price!

Just did my 4th workout (3rd set of Energy), and it is very apparent that I have almost no upper body strength but things have gotten slightly easier. First day of Energy I made it through but almost the whole thing was done modified and I was swearing at the TV during the broken table. Today after the weekend off was a little harder then the previous time but made it through with only having to modify a couple times to one knee, and only once during broken table. I am really enjoying the program, and was thinking that after 3 sets of energy I'd be up to the task and ready for more, but apparently not yet :)

Does anyone here do the routines twice a day? Also does anyone do the "Wake up" routine daily/during off days?

2nd day successfully gluten free, hoping to go shopping at a health food store tomorrow to pick up some natural peanut butter, slowly but surely getting a nice food regime in order.

Wait for the dreaded Broken Table Broken Airplane combo. I believe it's in Strength Builder.

Mondays I usually just do Red Hot Core since I've been taking the weekends off from doing.

You can get Skippy/Jif Natural at a real grocery store for half the price and it's just as "clean." Plus you don't have to stir that shit!

EDIT: Also, just do the program on the days it says and the programs it says. Don't fall into that trap where you bite off more than you can chew. Wake up in the morning would be A-OK, but don't try and double your workload right away, you'll just get hurt or burnt out.

This is a marathon, not a sprint. :)

Did my 1st Dirty Dozen to day realized my left knee likes to lock a lil bit lol

Im drained now and just want to sleep so i think its did its job lol

Edit: now body hurts not sure if im doing it right but boy do i feel it in my arms

Do you have to get the dvds? Or is there some kind of digital download available for purchase? Sorry if this has been asked, I just don't have a dvd drive...well I guess I got a ps3, but yeah.

There is no digital download at this time. There is an app coming, but there's no timefram on that.

Just pop it in the PS3! :)

Im hurting today, not the injured hurt, just the hurt of using muscles I havent used in ages (Principally my upper body) , I picked this up because blisters prevented me from doing my usual programme which is running 6k Monday, Wed, Fri, Sun, Tues etc.

Need to find a cheap heart monitor watch when I'm in town tomorrow too

I'm starting my first week today. Did a couple sessions last week but this'll be my first full week. Pretty excited!!

DDP yoga is amazing as a fitness program, but keep in mind that the whole gluten free diet stuff is pretty wishy washy. There's absolutely 0 evidence that gluten-free diets benefit you at all unless you have celiac or gluten sensitivity. Granted, I don't think going gluten free harms you either, but it does make adhering to a certain diet harder since keeping gluten free can be a huge, huge pain in the asshole. Gluten is in fucking everything and people who have hardcore celiac disease pretty much can't eat food that they haven't prepared themselves.

The paleo diet is a different story and it's pretty similar to the diet DDP advocates.

Watching this P90X3 infomercial right now. My God this looks intimidating. I love that the fattest guy they had was 207lbs.

I'll stick with DDP

lol dam. I just did Diamond Cutter for the first time, they have a guy (think his name was tony) who is like 320 or 340 pounds in the modification position. A few of the people like the Yoga doc and the big black guy look like good athletes, but everyone else is just normal from what I've seen.

Diamond Cutter was tough at 50 minutes, but I thought it had nice pacing to break it up. Got real tough for me at the end but as of now Stand Up is still the toughest IMO.

Thanks, I might just do that. Last question, do I need any equipment for this workout?

If you are very eary, then bands for some of the extended poses may help. However, the modifications make it to where you'll be able to do the workouts without any equipment.

However, there are some poses in the beginning where a chair could be helpful for a few different poses, or a block to put on the floor. Again, you can also modify them with the instructor who is modifying the poses if need be.

I started out barely able to bend over. I did not use anything to assist, except for the modifications. Took no time for my body to stretch back out, and was able to do the full poses.

Yeah, the diet he advocates for the program is pretty insane tbh. I have now doubt that if you do it, you will see results, but good luck eliminating all gluten and dairy from your diet, as well as going low fat for the rest of your life. Also, I don't understand why he says no fruit after noon, as I've never come across anybody else suggesting this.

Great program, sketchy dietary advice imo.

Did Diamond Dozen/Red Hot Core. Was able to push through Red Hot Core for the first time. My abs are barking, but great workout!

Just got this in the mail and I have a quick question. Is diamond dozen supposed to be so short? he just shows you the move asks you perform the move and then explains the benefits. Is that the actual workout because at first I thought it was the introduction and then I expected for him to get really into it, but that never happened.

Just an intro for how the moves will go.

Yup, it's just the introduction. You'll definitely want to get s good grip on them before you move on! :)

Just did my first Energy, tough but doable, few shakey positions where my limbs were giving in so things to work on, if its anything like Dozen ill be sore tomorrow but at the moment I feel ok.

Currently in the second week of the beginner program (all Energy), and I wish I had ordered a Yoga mat sooner. Not necessarily for the padding, but I gotta keep this sweat out of my carpet. Right now it's the lunge-based positions that are breaking me most. After I stopped taking a knee for those, the broken tables don't seem so bad.

Feeling ok today, wonder if i didnt push myself hard enough, tempted to give it another go today but im not sure if that would be a tad premature doing 2 in 2 days.

For me the first few weeks were tough, I could barley move my quads and hamstrings. You need to rest your muscles, I'd do every other day for a while and when you stop getting sore add more days.

Just started Beginner on Monday, so had my first Energy yesterday. Felt worn out afterward, but surprisingly good today. Looking forward to tomorrow.

That's awesome! The first time you do the Energy course, it can be deceiving. Looks easy, but it can be pretty challenging.

Yeah reading the diet stuff turned me off a bit. I have a very good friend who has Celiac, and it's hard as shit for her to eat. There's basically no reason to go GF unless you have a serious sensitivity to it. That being said, the workouts look like they'll be fun. I finally got my mat and crap so I am going to start this soon. Maybe tonight?

I haven't followed the diet suggestions. Just cutting down on junk and quit regular soft drinks.

Been doing this for two and a half weeks (two weeks officially) now and have already lost six pounds!
