Third-party themes confirmed for Nintendo 3DS (Monster Hunter, Youkai Watch)

I have a big feeling that Nintendo won't give us the themes outside Japan/Australia until New 3DS launches here
That Zelda theme is awesome!
Thought they were already announced for world wide with the update.

The retro Mario theme is pretty cool. I want Theatrhythm theme, a Kirby Triple Deluxe theme, and a SMT IV theme.

Okay that aside I've found where the theme shop is, maybe. Notice on the bottom screen the Sun icon for changing screen brightness has changed.

If it is NNID needed for free ones that is unsurprising but if it one to use the theme shop at all, I've gone from being a second class citizen to a third class one and its all because I care about not being stuck with a crap eShop. Thanks Nintendo. Edit: Crisis averted

This is definitely one of the best new features to come to 3DS and I'm so damn glad it won't be exclusive to the New 3DS line.
Really want a Monster Hunter, Metroid or Zelda theme on my 3DS XL.

The "Y" thing seems to be a screenshot button or something (maybe take pic and set as background?), but makes me wonder what else is the October update going to be bring.

It just says that bought Themes won't be usable anymore if you delete your NNID.
It also says that you need money in your eShop-wallet OR in the Theme-shop (indicating they are separate?)
Yeah the top menu bar has gotten a slight redesign and I think the brightness icon is gone because the New 3ds has an auto brightness feature. Maybe brightness control is still accessible somewhere else though.The free ones look best if you ask me. Anyway. What does the Y button do?

Edit: Yeah brightness options are available once you think the theme button.

I like a few , but not enough to pay for them. Let's hope ya get some free if ya buy a game in a certain time frame or something.

I hope they do this on Wii U as well, it's so boring seeing the Wara Wara Plaza all the time. :/
As for a Direct, god damn we're long overdue for a worldwide one aren't we? Japan had two to themselves and Australia just had one for the first time.
Edit: Talking about a proper Direct, not counting the game-specific ones like Bayo and Hyrule Warriors.
Edit 2: Holy shit, we've been Proper WW Direct-less since Feb 13th!

Ahhhhhhh. You just sparked my crazy imagination here.
Imagine the themes in Wii U wara wara plaza now becoming themes like Animal Crossing U plaza there and of course also attached with Miiverse and some kind of community board for voting and other popularity contest.
For example: Smash Bros U plaza. This plaza will be filled by tons of all Smash Bros character interacting or even vsing in the middle of the Plaza.
Boy, if Ninty did this, my wallet is going to scream like crazy.
