Pizza Hut, when it's the old sit down restaurant spots, deliver pretty good food at a reasonable price.

But most Pizza Huts in NYC are the greasy take out places that are nothing but a hole in a wall and barely any space or tables to sit.

Local places are almost always better than Pizza Hut, but there always a few times to local place will burn the pie or make it too hot to eat.

There hasn't been much mention (if any) of Jets Pizza in this thread. If I go chain, it's usually my first choice. Glorious greasy garbage.

Ha, nah, it's true. Growing up in the South many years ago, it was about all I had access to. I don't claim to be a foodie by any stretch (at least when it comes to pizza...sushi or steaks are another story), but it's just what I like. I've been verbally crucified on many occasions because of its but I don't care. NY pizza is overrated.

New York pizza is good, but nothing outstanding. It seems that most places skimp on cheese and ham. They look like that italian pizza posted earlier. Too much sauce as well. Back in mexico I had better pizza tbh and that is absurd.

Pizza Hut > Papa Johns > Dominos

For me it would be Pizza Hut > Little Cesars > Dominos > Papa Johns. I've never understood the appeal of Papa Johns, their pizzas taste horrible. On a side note, I'm creeped out by how Papa John never blinks in any of his commercials.

I think we're talking about national chains. Jets Pizza is still primarily a Midwest thing, although there are franchises in other states. I've only seen it in Michigan and Ohio. Also, the pizza reminds me of the french bread pizza they served at school lunch in the 90s.

I'm with you. The appeal of Papa John's is their long running marketing campaign that pretends like they're a national chain that actually serves good pizza. I find Papa Johns and DOminoes almost indistinguishable, except for price. Papa John's regularly ran $3 - $4 more expensive than Dominoes, so I never understood why anybody would have ordered it. If you're ordering shit tier national pizza, may as well get the cheapest one.

Pound for pound, Dominoe's $5 medium 2 topping pizza fed me through college. Or 3 small 1 topping pizzas for $12. Jesus those deals. You'd be drunk at 2am and Dominoes would deliver till 4am. It was glorious.

Oh, I didn't realize it wasn't national.

Pizza Hut has $11 unlimited toppings. And Pizza Hut is a lot better than it was wen I was a kid. I'd love to eat local pizza more often but I'd take an unlimited topping Pizza Hut pie over a boring ass pepperoni or cheese for the same price from a local spot.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I'm not saying all pizza in the US sucks, I'm saying all American style pizza sucks. And that of course is only my personal opinion.

What exactly is "american style pizza"? Because I can get practically any style of pizza where I live; Chicago style deep dish, thin and crispy, etc.

I'll get real pizza most of the time but if I'm drunk or it's really late, Pizza Hut > Dominos > Papa Johns, mainly because Pizza Hut has the most wacky shit.

I still can't believe that on a place like GAF that derides McDonalds so hard for their shitty ingredients there are people standing up to defend the likes of Pizza Hut and Little Caesars. They are "good" in the respect that it shouldn't be hard to combine tomato sauce, bread and cheese together into something halfway decent but they are using shit-teir tomatoes, cheese and bread.

These places aren't usually the 2nd, 3rd, 4th or even 5th best option for pizza in most places in the US and should be rightly relegated to when you're drunk, high or extremely hungover. They aren't even usually cheaper.

So yeah, a $5 little caesars hot-n-ready pizza is good in the same sense that a $5 back alley hand job is good.

OP, I agree on Pizza Hut. Give me a pepperoni and chicken with asiago crust and honey sriracha glaze and I'm in heaven. But......

Their stuffed crust pizza is crap. They make it way too thin, which always results in a soggy pizza by the time you get it home.

This man is correct. Their stuffed crust blows.

Living in Chicagoland, I couldn't even imagine ordering from one of these chain places. Too many good alternatives. That said, if I'm going to eat garbage pizza, I agree, Pizza Hut wins hands down. They have differentiated themselves just enough with hot dogs in the crust and weird ingredients to make them unique.

Pizza Hut >>> Domino's, but it's ridiculously expensive . I can get some better local pizza for the same price and it's usually twice the amount of food.

Please define "American style pizza," as there are like dozens of different types. The pizza in your photo from whatever German restaurant that was looks like any number of pizzas I could get at any restaurant in any city in the US.

As far as fast food pizza goes, I would have Pizza Hut at the top of the list.

Sometimes you just want a box of grease, and I like their pepperoni.

Never had any problems with chain pizzas. They're all great. Put the toppings on the dough and bake it. The issue is always with locations and what people you get making it. I've had some amazing dominos and sometimes a thin, sloppy, wet dough for crust depending on the person. My towns Pizza Hut used to be amazing. Every pizza was good enough to go on an ad. They shut down due to an owner scandal causing almost 30+ locations to be closed within my state. A new Pizza Hut re-opened and the staff on their is making some of the wettest and greasiest pizza I've ever had every time. Shit's nasty.

I love the pizza/sex analogy where "even when it's bad it's still pretty good." I eat pizza all the fucking time (maybe 75-100 times per year, honestly) and I can't really say I've had "bad" pizza but for maybe 20 times in my life. Pizza Hut is fine. People sure love to shit on stuff.

I prefer a couple independent joints in my area. It pays to go on a pizza safari in your local area and find the best pizza maker. beats out pizza hut any day

Pizza Hut is way too freaking greasy for me. Hotbox Pizza, Hungry Howie's and Papa Johns are the best, at least where I live.

Pizza Hut near me is way better ever since the overhaul last year. Obviously there are smaller, local places that are better, but for something fast and cheap it ain't bad.

The good thing about America is that we're a big country with lots of places that are a million times better than Pizza Hut. Pizza like in your picture exists here.

Sorry again, I somehow was under the impression the term is used worldwide. American style pizza is what we call extremely greasy pizza with really thick dough and way too much cheese- like the pan pizzas you can get at Pizza Hut. Again, I'm not saying you can't get good pizza in the US! The US is a diverse and huge country and I'm sure you can basically get any kind of food there. Should have made that clear with my first post, though. ;)

People who say that dominoes is better than Pizza Hut are the kind of people to take a dump after taking a shower.

this made me laugh haha. pizza hut is ok if you are in the mood for it. it gets gross pretty quickly though. it's a couple times a year kind of thing for me at this point.

In my experience, Pizza Huts vary in quality by a huge range.

In college, we had two Pizza Huts nearby. One would be the default location it would give us when we ordered online, the other was just barely a little farther in a different direction. If we ordered from the first one, it was always a greasy, salty mess of spongey dough and not enough sauce/cheese. The second one actually made really decent pizza, and other students could confirm that the difference was remarkable enough to make them completely ignore the first one.

So I completely believe the people who say that Pizza Hut is shit, because chances are they've only eaten at bad ones. The one near me now is pretty fucking awful, and I never get it. But I can also believe those that say they actually really like Pizza Hut, because I can confirm that there are places capable of making decent pizza.
