This Galaxy S7E is pissing me off

I'm honestly thinking of switching to something else. Maybe an iPhone. I'm just tired of shit not working properly and having to restart my phone all the time. I just want a phone that works the way it's supposed to.

Here's some first world problems for ya:

My service never seems to search after I leave a no-service area. This is all day since I work for Budweiser and am constantly in and out of beer coolers (never have service in those). I go in with service, come out without. Okay, that's fine, but it never goes back to LTE on its own. Most of the time I need to reset it and it finds it perfectly.

My camera saves photos sideways. I hold it a certain way, where it shows the picture the correct way up. I look in my gallery and most are sideways 90°. It's annoying when you have to edit>adjust every one you want to Instagram or Facebook. I'm not using the stock camera app. Both apps have done this

The battery is already a turd. I unhooked this at 4:05am, it's 6:22am currently, and I'm at 82%. Just doesn't seem right. I don't have any crazy apps draining it down..

People can't hear me occasionally when I'm on the phone. For work I take a lot of calls and sometimes they cant hear me. I'm not sure what's up with that.

Is there something I can do to maybe fix some of this stuff? Never had IOS before but they never seem to have issues like this. Factory reset, maybe?
 
Im too lazy to customize app usage on the phone so i just put it in eternal saving mode, no more battery problems.
 
I know iOS has issues too but the company phone is an iPhone 6 and my buddy has one and it never has these issues. We've chatted about it. Idk. I'm just getting tired of androids bullshit

Battery is dying from you losing signal. It immediately tries to reconnect and doesn't, and then you reset it. That's killing the battery. Might be a bad radio? Couldn't hurt to take the phone to your carrier to have it checked out,

It seems you got a dud. It happens to both Android and Apple phones.

As for the photo showing up sideways, same deal - it also happens on Apple devices.

If it's still under warranty, why not go and have it checked out first?
 
Imo, if you can't do your work on your phone, replace it as soon as possible. Iphone is a good alternative. Why are you using your private (I assume) phone for work?
 
There's more to Android than just the Samsung Galaxy phones, but if you want a more straightforward device that's easier to troubleshoot then iPhone is a better option.

if troubleshooting = buying a new phone

things like facebook, instagram and google playservies etc will continuously drain you battery on android, if i forget to actually force close facebook my battery only last a day or so.
 
I work in mobile QA for a very, very large app. I work exclusively with Android as part of the scope of my work, but my personal device, like almost everyone in Silicon Valley, is an iPhone.

I absolutely hate having to deal with Android on a daily basis, and the issues that arise from manufacturers fucking with their own distribution of Android is jarring. Google has virtually no hardware/software control over Android, and they don't care to.

Every manufacture wants to layer in their unique bullshit and many in the process end up breaking things. It's a nightmare to QA the sheer number of different Android configurations between manufacturers/OS versions/etc. The worst culprits are always the Chinese manufacturers -- Huawei, Xiamoi, etc.

Anyways, I'm a fan of my iPhone. For the things I do, it just allows me to be productive and do everything I need to without being interrupted. There's something to be said about software and hardware which are exclusively designed for each other and tested/polished to a shine, and honestly, Apple is good at that. It's not perfect, but I'd give it a shot to see if you like it.

thats because Android uses different system then iPhone does. You should probably airplane mode it/or google change to 2G/3G/LTE between standby.
It would eat too much battery if you were in bad data position even if your mobile data is closed.
 
I purchased my S7E last month and received a £140 discount, free Gear Fit 2 and Bluetooth water resistant speaker and I've never been happier with a phone.
I have been iPhone since the 3GS and I can't see myself going back. I'll agree that android needs more delving into the app settings and restrictions of app permissions but the S7E is such an amazing device I don't care.
I don't find the iPhone to have one single feature better than this.
 
It's possible you got a dud. Switching can be tough if you've put a lot of money into one ecosystem or another, so that's something to consider before jumping ship.

I will say, however, that I switched years ago for similar reasons and couldn't be happier.
 
I have the same issues on losing signal if my phone is in my pocket or I'm indoors and lose it (more on TMOBILE than the phone).

You have TMOBILE also?
 
No cell phone is designed well for regularly losing signal unfortunately. I've found that instead of a full reset if you turn airplane mode on and then back off usually it will reconnect fine. Or just switch to airplane mode preemptively. Though honestly batteries always suck but with fast charging it doesn't really matter that much any more, just plug it in for 5-10 minutes here and there when you can.
 
iPhone has problems: faulty unit.

Android phone has problems: The whole Android ecosystem sucks.




I have a Nexus 6P and I've never had any of the problems described in OP. If OP buys an iPhone it will come with its own set of problems.
 
I have the same experience with my Samsung Note 4. I don't really have a good time with the phone over the last two years.

Gonna go with the next iPhone when it gets announced and released.
 
To be fair, iPhones usually have their own share of problems (owned two).
Get your phone checked out and, if possible, replaced/repaired.
 
Sounds like Samsung phones still have the same issues they had with the S3. After that I swore to never buy a Samsung phone again.

The phone is broken people. Both myself and my wife have had S7E for almost a year now and these issues arent a thing for any of us.
 
My iPhone experience has only been for the 6 and 7, but I dont see how the claims about these phones being the same as Samsungs are the same as far as issues. I havent experienced sideways pictures or lack of signal searching just from being underground for a while and coming out to signal.
On the other hand both my HTC and Galaxy phones I had before would freeze on apps all the time and the keyboard specially would become intolerably unstable the older the phone got with crashes.
Like others say though, you can get a dud or have a broken phone no matter the brand
 
I think you have a busted unit. I had an S7 Edge (and S6 before that) and never had the same issues.

The only explainable issue is the battery dying fast, which sounds like it could be due to you be in areas without signal on a regular basis. All phones have worse battery life when there is no signal.

The rest sound like you got a bad unit.

You did mention possibly trying factory reset, and that is definitely something worth trying before taking more drastic measures.

An old phone like that proves nothing about Samsung or Android now. At the time, Samsung phones were notorious for issues. They kind of threw everything at the wall to try outdo Apple's feature set and ended up making everything clunky. HTC made far better phones at the time. Much smoother experience.

Samsung really finally realized how to make a flagship phone with the S6. The S6 and S7 are very solid.

That being said, right now, the best Android experience is the Pixel and it will probably stay that way, though Samsung will probably always be the "sexier" phone.
 
I had three Androids before switching to iPhone. Each had its own set of both hardware issues (which the manufacturer is to blame) and software issues. I find iPhone/iOS to be quite more reliable and consistent in its performance.

And I was the opposite. My iphones were plagued with issues, from randomly resetting to losing signal which required a reboot. My first android was solid for 3 years, then crapped out with a new OS. My S7 Edge has none of the problems listed in this opening post.

So, yeah. None of this is objective. If there is an objective source on quality control regarding the two, I'd like to see it.

As regards the topic post, I've not had any of these issues with my S7 Edge. It has been the most solid, reliable phone I've owned. I especially have not seen battery drain that bad. My first approach would be determining which programs are eating up battery. You might have installed something that is constantly using the GPS, for instance. Or are you using full brightness the entire time, using your phone constantly for videos? Otherwise I would look into a repair from the manufacturer.
 
As an iPhone user, iPhones have some weird quirks. Like when I am on the train in the morning, I go through a tunnel and when I come out and the train goes over the bridge, it has trouble connecting to LTE. It will eventually but its weird. I would just go to your carrier to get it checked out.

I will say that I live near a few Apple stores, and one year my mute switch wasnt working and moving down. Kind of a big deal since I need to silence my phone during meetings. Took it to the Apple store and they used a tool to brush away any dust or sand that was jammed in there. Its nice having that service since they get both hardware and software. I really hope Google gets on that level. Open up more stores and service your own phones. The Pixel phones can use it.

Lucky. Mine's at 60 something percent in around 2 hours.

Still love the phone. Only problem is that it's so slow now. Even typing is a chore on certain sites like Reddit.
 
I would never use an Android phone that isnt' "pure google". IMO look for a Nexus or a Pixel. Touchwiz always sucked.

Never had major issues on my Nexuses, closest to an issue was the silly glass back on the N4 that cracked a bit, but that was inevitable and didn't effect operation.
 
Factory reset. I find a lot of OEM skinned android phones will perform worse over time, but it's not an uncommon android problem for apps or the OS to go rogue over time.

I'd try a factory reset or maybe boot into recovery and try wiping cache.

I see this a lot and I have bounced between the two phone OS's for a few generations. I am currently on Android and the ability to be able to modify and piece together what I want as an experience far outweighs minor things. With that said a walled garden approach of what Apple does gives a great day in day out experience for people that want that.

The S7E sounds like its bad. If possible take it in and see if the shop can look at it.

iOS is pretty slow with scrolling and other navigational stuff. Android have them beat at that these days.
 
I have an S6E and don't have any of these problems except battery life (which has been my experience on all smart phones). It just works, as intended. The last phone I could say that about was an old Nokia or something.
 
As someone who owned several iphones and made the switch to the S7e, let me just say that every phone is going to have some annoying problem. Try putting your phone on battery saving mode (or whatever its called). I can usually go a day and a half without charging.

Can't stand ANDROID or can't stand the crappy phone you had? Big difference. I have a OP3 - almost barebones Android. Fast as can be. No freezeups, no slowness.

EDIT - Just to counter, every iPhone I had (gen 1 to iPhone 5s) needed to be replaced for some hardware reason (not damaged) so, everyone has different experiences.
