I am amazed that I actually have one.....thankfully over the summer my wife would stop by the gamestop every day during work and was able to find one.....I haven't played it alot, but I am glad I have it for SMG, MP3, ZTP, and NMH
You should try Zack & Wiki - the puzzles trump those in TwiPri.

Play a system that is worth while...

On that note, I'll trade my Wii, 2 controllers (2 wiimotes, 1 nunchuck), Wii Sports, Resident Evil 4 Wii, Super Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, and Wii Play for an 80 GB PS3 or working 360 Elite (non-refurb), either with 2 controllers and at least 2 games. Anyone willing, send me a private message and I'll consider.

You'll net more on ebay for a used system. You'll probably get close to $430 on all of those. After fees, you'll get $400.

Indeed, sell it on eBay. You'll have more than enough to buy what you want and you'll make someone who wants a Wii happy.

Now who the fkuc would buy a used Wii for 400$?
Used or new the demand is there.

New without games with just the Wii play and extra nunchuks nets $450 right now. With hot games like SMG and Twilight princess, a used system should have no trouble netting over $400, especially if you list now, before Gamestop replenishes their supply.

I camped outside of a target in a snowstorm overnight in Nov. 2006 to get mine. And I walked uphill both ways. You might still have to do this to get one.

Nintendo is too afraid of the bubble popping to build new factories.
I know you just wanted to troll, but I have to correct this notion by pointing out that they have increased production several times, first as early as January 2007.

Thanks....I have actually been meaning to try this, but haven't go around to it.....I have such a backlog of games to get through

just got mine 2 days ago.. it was a pain in the butt to find.

I called every store in this city, then recalled them to ask when trucks come, when to expect wiis. Finally one of my ebgames said he was expecting 3 wiis.. i was the third person when they opened.

Dont call to see if they have any at the moment you call, ask for when they expect to get some and ask when they get delivery trucks.. i think its everyday.. so call them daily :D

another reason its hard to find, is the ebay people.. i really do hate those guys.. buying all the stock, just so they can make some money. I hope you guys do go to hell.

Lies. After putting in all my info and hitting the purchase button it says they are currently out of stock. -_-

So haven't they sold close to 20 million units worldwide in just over a year? Isn't that, you know, insane?

How can anyone say they're deliberately shorting supplies?

That's nothing! Sony back in the day was creating false demand like mad by only shippend 6.4 million PS2's after one year worldwide. See how it's done Nintendo? You have nothing on Sony!

Nothing!

Because people refuse to believe the system is actually selling well of its own merits. They want to rip on Nintendo for anything they possibly can. Hence even though they've shipped more Wiis in 1 year than any other console ever, Nintendo is creating a false demand.

Evil those fuckers are I tell you. Only shipping 20 million consoles WW in a year. What the hell don't they know we were supposed to just walk into any store the day after launch and find hundreds of them stacked up.

Choose your favourite online games store, or local independent.

Place a pre-order and pay in full.

Wait.

Wii.

This works in the UK at least (Argos works best at the moment, buy online then collect from your local store on delivery day), no idea about foreign parts.

Or, like, pre-order before launch and get one on day one like all the cool kids did...

Between yesterday and today, I've been to 3 Best Buys, 2 Circuit Cities, 2 WalMarts, 2 Toys R Us, 1 Target and around 4-5 different EB Games/Gamestop .... no luck in finding a Wii

One of the WalMart's haven't received a new shipment since before christmas.

Try rental places that also sell games, no matter how little of it or outdated they are. You're probably more likely to find one there than bigger places.

My friend down in Georgia was looking for a Wii just weeks before Christmas, and he discovered that the best way to get one is to show up to stores early (before they open) or right before they receive their early shipment. It took him less than a week to figure out the shipment schedules of all the nearby stores in his area, and he was able to snap up 2 Wiis a week* -- and while he had a 9-to-5 job.

* = yes, he was a scalper.

why would the supply suddenly go dry right after the holiday and stay that way for so long? i got one recently, and heard this story a lot (no shipments since christmas). i haven't seen one since the day i got mine, but for the first time since launch, i don't know anyone who is actively looking for one, so it does seem like things are getting somewhat better in the general.

i think you'll see a window where they're lots easier to get just before fit launches. i saw quite a few last fall before holiday consumer madness kicked in.

check unusual places - i noticed the other day that shopper's drug mart sells them here (!??)

Wait.

By far the easiest way to get a Wii...though probably not the quickest. Has anyone tried this recently? If so, how long did it take?

I think the rain check program is most responsible for the shortage.

Nintendo is burning out their factories at 110%, working 24/7 making Wii units. An ideal level is supposed to be around 50%, so you can have two shifts working 12 hours a day and if you need to raise or lower production, you can. Building more factories is not rocket science (nor is it the flip of a light switch, as Reggie/Iwata likes to point out), but it takes money and three or four months. And it doesn't cost Nintendo anything more in terms of machinery or employees, because burning out one piece of machinery twice as fast is the same thing as having two parts and burning them out slower. All they save money on as it is now is the real estate cost.

The problem is that every time Iwata decides to increase Wii production, he asks himself "What would fix this situation? A 5% increase? 10%? I know, it must be 8%. Yeah, that'll surely work." None of his guesses since 2006 (which have combined to more that 100% worth of increases) have worked, so you'd think that each guess would get more and more ballsy, but they don't. And 100% would've been safe for his first guess. But he seems to be factoring in a sharp drop in Wii demand (a bubble bursting) to give his factories their rest and bring them back down to 50%.

I'm not saying that Wii isn't selling amazingly well, but Iwata seems to be braced for the worst instead of reveling in it's success. And some people speculate that if the Wii were readily available, people simply wouldn't see or feel the demand anymore, despite potentially massively increased sales-age numbers, and non-gamers might decide that it's "not popular anymore" and lose interest in the system. It could create the very thing he's afraid of.

:lol Mike Epps (from Next Friday) is on Conan talking about finding a Wii for his daughter. Says he had crackheads lookin' out for him, and still couldn't find one.

Exactly.

Demand... is just higher then early PS2 demand.

So... making more Wii's will make the Wii a fad.

Edit - And why have two 12-hour shifts when you can have 3 8 hour shifts?

Wii-in-the-wild eye-witness account:

just the other day, while trolling GS for a copy of Warriors Orochi (new or used) I saw a guy about my age walk-in-off-the-street and purchase one (for a "friend"). The clerk goes in the back and brings one out, but the box was damaged, so she went back and got a second Wii. While this was going on, an elderly gentleman goes up to the other clerk and requests the "the bowling game", the clerk asks if he means the Nintendo Wii, and that's when I leave, so I don't know if that's what he'd meant. ANYWAY... :O

That's the theory. Non-gamers don't pay attention to sales-age. If the shortage ends, they won't know why, might assume it was just a fad, and bail, making it a fad. If they have to fight off another soccer mom for it, it must be good.

Can't prove that it's true, but a year later, Nintendo still hasn't gotten around to proving that it's not true.

And why have two 12-hour shifts when you can have 3 8 hour shifts?
I meant two 6-hour shifts. 12 hours total.

I just walked into store on launch day around 7pm and picked one up.
There are also loads of Wii around in every store just sitting on the shelves and collecting dust.
Ah, Poland. Country where PS3 is selling better than Wii (360 too propably) and is known as best next-gen console.
