At the time of this post, it was in stock for 249.99 and fairly cheap shipping.
You'll net more on ebay for a used system. You'll probably get close to $430 on all of those. After fees, you'll get $400.Moderation Unlimited said:Play a system that is worth while...
On that note, I'll trade my Wii, 2 controllers (2 wiimotes, 1 nunchuck), Wii Sports, Resident Evil 4 Wii, Super Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, and Wii Play for an 80 GB PS3 or working 360 Elite (non-refurb), either with 2 controllers and at least 2 games. Anyone willing, send me a private message and I'll consider.
Indeed, sell it on eBay. You'll have more than enough to buy what you want and you'll make someone who wants a Wii happy.Moderation Unlimited said:Play a system that is worth while...

Used or new the demand is there.dolemite said:Now who the fkuc would buy a used Wii for 400$?
New without games with just the Wii play and extra nunchuks nets $450 right now. With hot games like SMG and Twilight princess, a used system should have no trouble netting over $400, especially if you list now, before Gamestop replenishes their supply.dolemite said:Now who the fkuc would buy a used Wii for 400$?

I know you just wanted to troll, but I have to correct this notion by pointing out that they have increased production several times, first as early as January 2007.krypt0nian said:Nintendo is too afraid of the bubble popping to build new factories.

That's nothing! Sony back in the day was creating false demand like mad by only shippend 6.4 million PS2's after one year worldwide. See how it's done Nintendo? You have nothing on Sony!aeolist said:So haven't they sold close to 20 million units worldwide in just over a year? Isn't that, you know, insane?
How can anyone say they're deliberately shorting supplies?

Try rental places that also sell games, no matter how little of it or outdated they are. You're probably more likely to find one there than bigger places.Sh0k said:Between yesterday and today, I've been to 3 Best Buys, 2 Circuit Cities, 2 WalMarts, 2 Toys R Us, 1 Target and around 4-5 different EB Games/Gamestop .... no luck in finding a Wii
One of the WalMart's haven't received a new shipment since before christmas.
why would the supply suddenly go dry right after the holiday and stay that way for so long? i got one recently, and heard this story a lot (no shipments since christmas). i haven't seen one since the day i got mine, but for the first time since launch, i don't know anyone who is actively looking for one, so it does seem like things are getting somewhat better in the general.Sh0k said:haven't received a new shipment since before christmas.

Place a pre-order and pay in full.
Wait.
Wii.
I think the rain check program is most responsible for the shortage.birdchili said:why would the supply suddenly go dry right after the holiday and stay that way for so long? i got one recently, and heard this story a lot (no shipments since christmas). i haven't seen one since the day i got mine, but for the first time since launch, i don't know anyone who is actively looking for one, so it does seem like things are getting somewhat better in the general.
i think you'll see a window where they're lots easier to get just before fit launches. i saw quite a few last fall before holiday consumer madness kicked in.
check unusual places - i noticed the other day that shopper's drug mart sells them here (!??)
It's already #3 on Amazon.com bestseller list with another month to go before it arrives. It's gonna be absolutely sick.RPGCrazied said:i bet the upcoming brawl isnt helping any![]()
Nintendo is burning out their factories at 110%, working 24/7 making Wii units. An ideal level is supposed to be around 50%, so you can have two shifts working 12 hours a day and if you need to raise or lower production, you can. Building more factories is not rocket science (nor is it the flip of a light switch, as Reggie/Iwata likes to point out), but it takes money and three or four months. And it doesn't cost Nintendo anything more in terms of machinery or employees, because burning out one piece of machinery twice as fast is the same thing as having two parts and burning them out slower. All they save money on as it is now is the real estate cost.aeolist said:So haven't they sold close to 20 million units worldwide in just over a year? Isn't that, you know, insane?

The problem is that every time Iwata decides to increase Wii production, he asks himself "What would fix this situation? A 5% increase? 10%? I know, it must be 8%. Yeah, that'll surely work." None of his guesses since 2006 (which have combined to more that 100% worth of increases) have worked, so you'd think that each guess would get more and more ballsy, but they don't. And 100% would've been safe for his first guess. But he seems to be factoring in a sharp drop in Wii demand (a bubble bursting) to give his factories their rest and bring them back down to 50%.
I'm not saying that Wii isn't selling amazingly well, but Iwata seems to be braced for the worst instead of reveling in it's success. And some people speculate that if the Wii were readily available, people simply wouldn't see or feel the demand anymore, despite potentially massively increased sales-age numbers, and non-gamers might decide that it's "not popular anymore" and lose interest in the system. It could create the very thing he's afraid of.
That's the theory. Non-gamers don't pay attention to sales-age. If the shortage ends, they won't know why, might assume it was just a fad, and bail, making it a fad. If they have to fight off another soccer mom for it, it must be good.ComputerNerd said:So... making more Wii's will make the Wii a fad.
I meant two 6-hour shifts. 12 hours total. And why have two 12-hour shifts when you can have 3 8 hour shifts?
