This week's LOL game magazine news from JAPAN

Hasn't Ema's
only other appearance been the extra case
in Phoenix Wright DS? If so, that is some
celebrating on Coruscent at the end of Jedi
-quality stuff going on there. Glad to see her back though. As much as she annoyed me at the beginning of the extra case, I liked her a lot by the end.

LOL indeed.

Not that I'm a fan of Fire Emblem, but that's some ill shit there. Looks like Zelda only got the proper attention aye.... Paper Mario better not be like this.

I think you're overreacting. This is a famitsu review we're talking about. If you're already a Fire emblem fan, why would you care about their niggling complaints?

I mean difficulty? I like my SRPGs as hard as possible otherwise there's no feeling of accomplishment when you beat them. I really doubt this game is as hard as the reviewers are complaining about anyway.

But my Japanese Wii is in the mail anyway, can't wait to play it. :) The lack of wii pointer control doesn't bother me in the slightest since the idea of controlling akin to typing out a thousand wii messages isn't very appealing to me.

See, unlike Maya, Ema was helpful, and not a convenient deus ex machina to bring her oh-so wonderful sister to the forefront to solve the case for you instead of letting you do it.

Untitled PS3 game by ICO/Wanda team

- The hype begins in an ad, just like for Musou Orochi... does this mean an announcement will be made within a month?

You know you've hit the BigTime when you have a full page AD that just says, "YEP, we're working on a new game."

The SOONER the BETTER. I wish Sony got a small team to give SotC the 1080p/60fps treatment ala Tekken5 DR. $15? Gladly!

How Nintendo managed to crank out a GC/Wii Fire Emblem in such a short time, but STILL hasn't even announced a DS game boggles my mind.

Are Sony fans so desperate for any semblence of good news that they HAVE to completely overblow this announcement? Yeesh. Will we see the same thing if God of War 3 gets announced for PS3? :P

Yes. I would say any small nugget of news involving anything people like will go to at least...six pages.

The Wii Votes thing was at least unexpected... This was totally NOT shocking, and it's just a bloody ad with a drawing of a boot, for God's sake.

This IS pretty shocking. Previously Team Ico producers said they were thinking about making a PSP game as the R&D on PS3 would take too much time. This is great news for Team Ico fans.

Perhaps I'm not in on the joke, but who is putting the Japanese writing on the scans?

And unless I'm reading it wrong, the ICO team ad just says that they are hiring for there new PS3 project. Where does it say that they have only just begun work on it? Or does their hiring people imply that this is the case.

Great to hear that Team ICO is working on a game. Maybe we will get it before PS4. :)

Professor Layton and Pandora's Box makes me so happy! Is there anyword that the first is coming to the US.

Also great to see Megaman...

Oh and FE is destined to be awesome....

thanks for contributing to this thread.

I could swear I got banned for saying something like this in a 360 thread this time last year... @_@

No, it's not like that, it's more like,

"Miyamoto is currently working on a game right now."

Actually it's more like Miyamoto is making a NEW game. Something he doesn't do near as often.

That and he is a Creative Director (like Jaffe is now) IIRC, which means he doesn't head his own personal development studio.

I wonder when the hell is MistWalker-Nintendo going to show ASH if its supposed to be a Spring title.

Btw, apocalypse coming, there are 0 Tales to look forward when ToD2 PSP launches this Thursday. Back in October there were 5 :lol

Team Ico, yay!
Ecolis, yay!

If I didn't know any better (and I do), I would have said that Hoshigami looks good. Damnit, why can't they just fix the fun engine in this one and make it better?

Of course, we may see the same thing happen with Ema in the 4th game...her older look in the scan is a bit Mia-esque, but it could just be me.

There will be once it is revealed that Team Symphonia is making a DS game.

**** you Namco :(

Are the sketches on that Team Ico ad from ICO and SotC or their new game? Looks like ICO stuff, but some of the scribblings throw me off. What's with the Cowboy boot? It says "Rot" or something there, and next to it "exp rot". Eh?

Some of you guys saying that the game will come out after 2008, must be thinking that guys at Team Ico were sitting and drinking beer since they finished working on SotC. The new game is probably in development since 2005, and will most probably come out in 2008, which is great news.

IGN has an article about the advert including a link to Sony's recruitment page on their website (with similar sketch work):

The big news in this week's Famitsu comes not from the editors of the magazine, but from Sony's ad agency. Sony has taken up a two page spread in the magazine for a job listing. So what's the big deal? The listing just happens to be for the production team that made Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. Oh, and it also mentions that the team is working on a new project for the PlayStation 3.

The main fields of interest in the ad are programmers and engineers. Sony wants people who are familiar with physical simulations, shader programming, algorithms, networking technology, and general game programming. We'd read further into this list, but it seems like a pretty standard check list of qualifications for a programmer in the game industry nowadays.

As a secondary solicitation, Sony is also seeking animators, artists, level designers, scripters and assistant producers.

Those who are interested in applying can check out the online entry form at Sony's website.

As for us, we're trying to figure out what happens when you take three numbers, add each to itself, square the individual results, add the three resulting numbers, and finally take the square root of the whole thing. That's one of the random formulas scribbled onto the pages of the job listing. There are also little sketches of shapes and people, along with a few green ink blobs here and there. A hint as to what we can expect from Team Ico's new mystery project? Probably not, but we trust you won't blame us if we read a bit too far into things here.

Great issue!!

What did the Fire Emblem for gamecube get btw?

And wasn't it rumored in EGM that the ICO team was making a co-op SoTC type game or something? Or was I dreaming?

Beats me, but I'd certainly like to know too. I would think that the marketing blitz would start soon, especially if the game is meant to be released around the vaunted "Golden Week" time frame.

But ah well....there's always next week. And kudos to you, duckroll, for the ZX: Advent scans. Looks hot. :D

LOL @ the people surprised that Team Ico already started development on a PS3 game. It's been over a year since their last game was made. And I'd feel Sony was a tad more responsible with their developers than some other people...

Yeah but it's still nice to see it in writing. Or pictures. Whatever.

Mana-Khemia clean scans, finally!

Edit: Thanks for those scans, do you mind if I update the first post with those scans too? :D

Those Professor Layton scans remind me of The Last Express and The Gene Machine. Here's hoping they get released overseas as soon as possible.

Well you never know these days with how stupid Sony has been recently they could have choose to move team ICO to other projects or dare I say shut them down, it's not like their games where mega sellers, not that I expected that to happen but look at Clover.

and is that Untold Legends the ps3 game review? I thought that game was suppose to be complete crap.

yay for Fire Emblem Wii :D:D. good review, but no pointer functionality = what the...?

Gyakutan Saiban 4 news - looks awesome, I'm just playing through the first two. :)

Layton looks great as well - I didn't know it was a sequel to another game.

Team ICO working on a new game?

Good times are had by all! :D

Okay, I've got to admit -- with the clean scans, and with the second page of the feature, Ecolis actually does look pretty damned cool. Not sure if I'd say it's graphically impressive, but I'm rather liking the style and the gameplay looks like it could be pretty interesting. I think it's that dam shot that got me most curious.

Layton 2 looks awesome. And I'm glad Level 5 is confident enough in the first game that they're pushing ahead with the sequel even before Mysterious Village is released.
