Those embarrassing loud stomach noises

I can remember taking an exam and this girl behind me claimed I was farting the whole exam. I said no I wasnt then told her, "If I was farting why didnt anybody smell it?"

Yea I owned her ass right there.

It happend to me in church and it was really loud too the people around me definitly noticed. All in all it was a pretty embarrassing experience stupid human sounds :/

lol this just happened to me recently. I was taking a test and my stomach was growling full throttle. Pretty funny, in an embarrassing sort of way.

Own the fuck out of it. Acknowledging embarrassing stuff rather than tip-toeing around it shows you're confident in any situation or whatever.

This used to happen to me every morning in class years ago, I never ate breakfast and was always hungry in the mornings. Nothing like sitting in a silent class room for morning register and having your stomach constantly grumble.

This happens to me all the time in class. Always in the morning, and nearly every day. So embarrassing. There are 2 times that stand out for me.

My first was during a final exam. It was dead quiet and I could just feel my stomach bubbling up. I could actually feel it moving between my stomach and intestine. I tried my damnedest to keep it at bay, but to no avail. My body let out one of the loudest fart sounds that actually wasn't actually a fart that I had ever heard. Plus to make it even worse, I'm pretty sure the chair I was sitting on at the time amplified the noise, since I actually felt it rumble. The instant it happened, a girl sitting in the chair to my front left sat up and had the look of "holy hell, did he just shit himself?" I finished the test soon afterwards and left in shame.

The second memorable one was during some training for my job. New employees, including myself, from all over the area came in to get certified. The story basically goes the same as the first. I was one of 3 guys in a group of about 20 people. Plus most of the girls just so happened to sit close to me. Anyway, while doing some writing, the room was dead silent, and my stomach had been making those noises the whole time, some loud, some quiet, but overall they weren't so bad. Unfortunately for me however I had decided to stretch out a little bit, and the instant I did. Another one of the loudest stomach-fart sounding noises I've ever heard erupted from my body and echoed throughout the room. The girl sitting next to me turned and looked at me with obvious surprise. She actually asked me "are you okay?!" All I could manage was a "...yeah. I'm just hungry". Yet another day where I left in shame thanks to stomach noises.

Yeah, it does happen to me but never when I'm full. Only if I'm running on empty. What sucks though is if you are on an empty stomach and try to drink water to fill it up some to avoid growls... doesn't always work :P no fair.

But yeah nerves can make it worse. Dammit, body. Obey me. No noises!

Those both sound horrible. And yet I laughed both times. :D

It seems like whenever you try to hold it in it just ends up sounding that much louder when the noise finally comes out.

The sounds don't come from your stomach, they come from your intestines.

If I avoid wheat, dairy, and beans then the noises pertty much stop. One or more of those can irritate my digestive system.

Sorry to bring back a dead thread but this has been happening a lot to me too over the past year, dreading starting uni again with all the quiet lectures and seminars. They're just too unpredictable, can happen at any time or place, after eating any food/drink (though some things are worse than others) and can be as loud as it feels like being.

Yeah, they happen. I know what causes them so if I'm to be at an appt. I tend to make sure I've not done one of the things that causes it. (For me its potato's.. *shrug* just how I'm made I guess).

I'm perplexed as to how some people after X amount of years don't know their own bodies.

Oops.. didn't look at necropsy of thread.

When I was younger, I used to get so embarrassed.

Now, I just blame it on hunger. 6/10 times it is hunger. The 4/10 is just my stomach being an asshole.

when I was younger I had that when I ate too little.
today I have it when I eat too much (of the wrong stuff, mostly too many carbs)

you really need to learn what kind of food your body reacts to. when I was younger what helped for me were some snack bars. try some of them and see which help.

Yeah, I pretty much just live off of fodmap-friendly snack bars during term time but even that isn't a perfect solution. Fruit makes everything worse though so I've kept it to a minimum, need to watch out for signs of vitamin deficiency haha.

Happens to everybody and there's not a lot you can do about it especially if you can't break the ice with a one liner (like in an exam). Most people probably don't think twice about it.

I think the best thing is just to assure yourself that it happens to everybody and everybody deals with it, so it's not bad. It's not like you farted or burped or something, which has repercussions for others, it's just your stomach doing its thing.

If you do have a chance to break the ice on it, you could always say something like "oof, wish I ate breakfast today.." or "ugh, shouldn't have gone out last night." Chances are, though, most people probably don't notice it and blow it off if they do.

Yeah I've noticed that my growls are less pronounced after converting to a mostly low-fodmap diet. Still get them sometimes but now they aren't as loud or as frequent

Used to happen to me at University and work. Then I realized it was due to me chewing gum all the time. I never knew so much air was being swallowed while chewing gum. I don't have gum anymore and the bloating has disappeared. Drinking soda causes this too...

Yeah, that's what I heard as well.

Eating too fast, drinking carbonated beverages and chewing gum can all lead to excess air intake while swallowing. It can cause belching, stomach growls and gas.

So try and cut that shit out and see how it goes. Oh and eat regular, varied meals.

Like who cares. Why would anyone ever be embarrassed by this. It would like be you were embarrassed because you sneezed.

I have been trying to think like that but sneezing is fine, it happens every now and then plus you can hold it in a lot of the time, but stomach growls can happen almost every day one after another for hours at its worst. Sure everyone gets it but it's like a scale and it feels like I'm on the extreme end.

Used to happen to me all the time, I think it was a nerve thing. Went away after I started feeling more confident. I used to do the dumbest shit to try and hid it. these include but are not limited to:

♦ Pretending to be desperately searching for something in my backpack
♦ Coughing really loud (obvious)
♦ Re-adjusting my seat multiple times.
♦ Going "Ugh, I'm soo hungry" multiple times (which just brought more attention)
♦ Interchangeably crossing my legs to try and alleviate whatever was causing this curse

None of it worked really. But I did notice that it didn't happen when I was talking to people. So I figured it was nerves and after that, I just kinda lived life and stopped thinking about it. Went away

Can relate so much, did anything help with getting rid of the nerves?

"People are 100% more concerned by how uncomfortable their chair is, than by anything that's happening with you at any given time".

Made me realize that no matter what happens, people will forget, because they don't care.

Just like a lot of other "embarrassing" things, I tend to just ignore it or laugh it off. I'm not bothered by it, and if others find it embarrassing you can harvest a lot of respect by just making fun of it when it happens to yourself (advantage!). If someone thinks less of me due to being human, it says a lot more about them than about me.

That said, as a chubby dude I do get very annoyed when people think my tummy's rumbly due to not getting my timely portion of my 10k calorie daily intake. Wrong assumption (between 1 to 1.5k a day), and especially since I'm experiencing some pretty hardcore porverty-level income problems lately I need to skip meals to pay my bills. So yes, my tummy rumbles when I see you eating a sandwich, duh. Fuck your prejudice.

I had that happen during SAT and felt so bad for the people around me. I didn't have diarrhea, either. I wanted to just leave because it was going on constantly and it was a deep long growl. I was like wtf and couldn't concentrate because I know the whole classroom hears it.

Being 100% honest, what really helped me was an audiobook by Dale Carnegie. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I related to it so much it just resonated with me. It's all on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rP3HoK0cusw

It really did change my life for the better.

I've had this for a few years now, and in my case it's likely tied a lot to anxiety. It doesn't really seem to be an issue when I'm at home chilling, but it's always around when I'm writing a test/in a lecture, in bed with someone, at work in a quiet office, etc.

Aw man it happens to me all the time, like somtimes im not even hungry either, i always carry pretzels with me now to avoid those embarrassing moments

Yeah this used to happen to me a lot and always only when it was dead silent. It hasn't happened in a while though. Not sure why
