July 17, 2007 - THQ signs on with the Steam initiative:

Valve and THQ Inc. today announced plans to deliver an all-star line up of PC titles to Steam, a leading platform for the delivery and management of PC games and digital content with over 13 million accounts around the world.

The starting line up of THQ titles heading to Steam starting today spans a wide range of genres and hails from some of the most prestigious development studios in the gaming industry, such as THQ's Relic Entertainment, Gas Powered Games, and Pandemic. Specifically, the titles are:

Supreme Commander - (Strategy; developed by Gas Powered Games)
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl - (Action; developed by GSC Game World)
Company of Heroes - (Strategy; developed by Relic Entertainment)
Titan Quest - (Role playing; developed by Lore Entertainment)
Titan Quest: Immortal Throne - (Role Playing; developed by Lore Entertainment)
Full Spectrum Warrior - (Action; developed by Pandemic)

This only works for games that use a 5x5 CD key like Valve games do, AFAIK.

It doesn't work with everygame but try sticking your keys to games now on steam into the add game button.

You could then sell your hard copy and always have it on steam. Of course this would be naughty. And not something I'd recommend.

I bought it recently and am having a great time with it. I am an old AoE fan and this game took me by surprise. ANY RTS fan needs to pick this game up; and if someone complains about the WWII setting, I may have to kill them.

So long as you don't turn on Dynamic Lighting, STALKER will run on almost fugging anything from 2003-4 and on. VERY well.

It just won't look as pretty.

I think my Radeon 9800 Pro is bugged, though. And my copy of XP is... iffy. Realllly hacked over the years.

The game ran ok, but seemed to freeze up quite often for about 1 sec. at a time.

AMD 2400+, 512MB Ram, 1.4TB HDD Space, Radeon 9800 Pro.

I tried it on the minimum settings, but I seriously just think my gfx card is a bit broken.

Of course, I just bought Titan Quest + Immortal Throne and Supreme Commander this week. :lol

Oh well, I didn't pay retail and I got a good price on them. I tried the CD-Keys on Steam anyway just to make sure, but they didn't work. Oh well, I'd been meaning to pick up Company of Heroes and $27 is a good price for that. Been thinking about getting the Warhammer Dawn of War Platinum Edition, I may just wait for the Steam version of that too.

For Titan Quest it says "Titan Quest Immortal Throne requires the Steam version of Titan Quest to play." So, I'm thinking not.

Since it's another game, maybe. Have to check if it says the same when it's up.

Yours sounds comparable to mine. I just know something is a bit ... off... in my computer, so heavy stress games make it lock up for a fraction of a second. I need a whole new system. I've been replacing random parts on it for the better part of this decade.

I'd say it should.


Keep in mind, the sole reason for STALKER's infamous frame rate issues is Dynamic Lighting. When you turn to Static Lighting it should run very well on older hardware. Of course, it looks like a 2004 game to boot.

It ran okay on my Athlon 64 3200, 1GB ram, 9800 Pro. My CPU would be a little better than yours, but your videocard is a little better than mine sooo....probably....maybe.
