TIC interview with Phil Spencer. Old IPS coming back?

That would be the end of GAF as we know it

he sounds like he has a few things pan out for 2015/2016 but the devs just need time to get them nice and crisp to announce...i think Phil is dying inside to tell everyone whats going on

it's refreshing to me when it's something else besides Halo/gears/forza can't wait to see the other amazing titles comeback.

Banjo kazooie is too good of an ip to just let it sit for an entire generation. There will almost definitely be a banjo game released on the system. Whether it's a "banjo kazooie anniversary" type deal running on an upgrade n&b engine, or a straight up sequel to tooie, something os definitely coming.

Also, MS really needs to learn how to properly handle their intellectual properties. Do you know how good a viva pinata game for ios and android would do? It would be crazy.

Where is the hint for that

Seavours working on Project Spark doing the voice for Conker. If you're familiar with what happened between MS and Chris, then it's kind of big news he's returning to the role. As he said, he'd never work with them again.

I think it's also part of a much wider discussions that have been going on.

Notice how Phil specifically talks about Viva Pinata at 8 minutes in. Rare's Christmas Cards used to give us hints about their next games. Their last card had a Kinect Sports avatar riding in a sleigh with Horsetachio as the Reindeer.

I seriously am expecting Viva Pinata 3 at E3 next year. Sorry Banjo fans, I want to believe too but I just don't see it.

I haven't played Otogi in years. I generally don't like the anime, melodrama stylings of most Japanese developers. But Otogi on the OG Xbox was fantastic. Incredible graphics and animation. I don't remember the story at all, but I do remember being blown away at the scale of the enemies and just the amount of chaos on screen.

+ From Software.

I really like Spencer. <3

They would have to simplify the game too much that it'll become an entirely different game. THey do have a rich foundation to make it worthwhile though. Theres what, 100+ pinatas?

They gave Phil a list of games fans wanted to see, Phil came back that they are doing something with a couple of them.
----------------------------
Halo Wars 2
Alan Wake 2
Blinx
Mech Assault
Fusion Frenzy
Banjo Kazooie
High Heat
Kameo 2
Otogi
Kotor
Shenmue
Conker
-----------------------------

Phil said they are not working on Mech Assault and High Heat was difficult to do.

Phil told Rare to go make an iconic Rare game!!
Phil also confirmed screenshots and themes are coming

What he meant

"Yeah we're making a Halo game.
There will be a Alan Wake Reference in Quantum Break.
There will probably be a Banjo Easter Egg in a Rare game or something.
Conker is in Project Sparks yo!
We're personally funding and developing Shenmue 3.
What the hell are the other ones?"

:(

I loved, shenmue back on my beloved Dreamcast. But the game has not aged to well.

Games have changed a lot since shenmue, Would a new shenmue have as much impact as the first?

I remember playing shenmue and be amazed that u could open all the draws and the overall level of detail,it even had real jobs.

But what would the game be like today. For it to have the same impact as the first?

It would need to be open world with the same detail of skyrim, the seamlessness, control and mission variety of GTA5/Sleeping dogs, and be better then those games to.

It would be a HUGE undertaking requiring an $100 million budget and at least a 3 year dev time. MS and maybe sony have the funds to do this but they would need a new dev team, Suzuki's current ys.net team can't be very big? Is Yu Suzuki up to the biggest challenge of his life at age 56?

Do you guys REALLY think Chris Seavor all of a sudden just wanted to return to have his voice in some random Project Spark lines? Phil must have talked with him about ideas to bring Conker back and this is the first stepping stone. I just find it hard to believe Chris would say he would never work with MS again then all of a sudden he's back and it's ONLY a project spark cameo...ain't no way!

Believe.

I would love Alan Wake 2 but I feel like that would be hard to convince Remedy given the ambitious nature of their current project. I doubt they want to become that studio for Microsoft.

I really want KotoR though =\ but that doesn't seem feasible given the licenses.

I think it was Ken Lobb that got him to agree to it based on his twitter account just after the event. He was asked about it and said he loved Conker/Conker fans more than he hated MS or something, and said Don Mattrick was a dick and Phil Spencer is much better if I remember rightly - might be some paraphrasing but that was the gist of it.

He might be consulting on it, I don't see him returning in any real capacity though

It amazes they haven't released a new Mech Assault. The game was so awesome on the true Xbox 1 and really sold me on online play.

Give me Alan Wake 2!!!

Halo Wars was decent fun and the only Halo game I played that I enjoyed at all, so a proper sequel would be neat, but I'm not sure I would get it.

Banjo-Threeie, Conker 2, or Kameo 2 would be the last push I need to get an XBone. Please Rare, don't let me down.

I really like that Microsoft is interested in reviving older IPs even if they weren't necessarily huge financial hits.

Fellow Nintendo hey say's

Hmmmm. MS Kart or MS mascot fighting game confirmed

MineKart is coming guys.

They should just include vehicles and aircraft in Minecraft 2.

Also classic rare franchises from the n64 days will attack lots of Nintendo die hards.

Really hope Phil and team does more of these. IGN would have turned this interview into chopped up bits/news that would have released weekly. Goodstuff XboxMad/TiC.

I find his comments on cross platform interesting. He mentions ecosystems and such, and then there's the whole One Store thing with Windows 10. And then his thoughts on the future and PC gaming.

I think we're getting cross platform play with Xbox and PC. I hope :)

The way MS have treated Rares IP has always been disgraceful. In future, they need to do something with the likes of Perfect Dark, Banjo, Kameo, Conker to apologise to the fans.

They essentially bought a studio just to sit on the IP.

So yea, redemption is in order.
