Tim Allen pops the big Q on Twitter: "Why are there still apes?"

You know what bothers me the most about this question? It's always said like the world's greatest scientists wouldn't have considered this notion. Like some random dumbfuck hillbilly came up with a loophole in the theory of evolution that no biologist had considered before. Instead of considering that, hey, maybe you're an idiot who doesn't get it, the question is put forth as though it has merit.

Yup. The easiest way to spot a Dunning Krueger idiot is their sublime disregard for thinking nobody else has asked the question.

Probably not untrue.. Though these people's relationship with the Pokémon franchise is usually not positive enough to get wrong ideas about evolution from it.

We once got gifted a book that blamed nightmares and mental illness on Pokémon cards.
It also explained that some episodes of the anime were created to undermine the belief in Christianity (showing the cross is powerless, while the sun, a Japanese deity, can banish evil spirits).

Oh I know all about the evils of trading card games.

This boy threw out all his pokeyman cards, and yet, he suffered nightmares! But then his mother found one that had been mixed up with her son's baseball cards.
They burned it together in their fireplace, and after that, the boy slept like a baby.

...I'll never forgive my mother for throwing this amazing book into the trash. I miss it.
It was supposed to help my dad stop smoking.

The incident I know of also involved burning cards...

wow this hurts my brain. And more than a lb of coke? If you had been anyone else you would have been locked up for a long time.

Whats going to happen if people manage to get dumber as we expand our knowledge base?

Tim. Are you sure apes really exist? I'm pretty sure they're fake species created by the illuminati to spread their pro evolution agenda.

Serious question, how do people who don't accept evolutionary biology reconcile with the fact that there are different dog breeds walking around in the park?

I once asked an old friend this. He'd spoken to one of his professors and basically he was taught and accepted the idea that micro-evolution happens but macro-evolution does not. The professor and him shared the same religion, this wasn't what he was taught in class, it was a private conversation.

He said dog breeds and other small changes are micro-evolution, but that macro-evolution isn't a thing. So, this model of thinking about it allows one to account for the small observed changes, but you can discount the part of evolution that calls in to question man being made in god's own image etc.

Someone photoshop that dog that he turns in that shitty movie

But humans aren't animals, anyway
