Tim Hortons is heading across the Atlantic in hopes that British tea drinkers may warm to the chain's coffee and doughnuts.

Restaurant Brands International, the parent company of Tim's, said Wednesday it has reached a deal with an investor to expand the Canadian restaurant chain into England, Scotland and Wales.

"This deal is part of our growth plan to take the iconic Tim Hortons brand around the world," said Daniel Schwartz, chief executive of Restaurant Brands International.

Great Britain is an attractive market with a strong and growing coffee culture, Schwartz said, calling it "a natural fit."

more at the link but the news is pretty much just that they're going to the UK

yes, they've had one brexit. but what about second breakfast?

they're going to fail miserably if they don't go back to making stuff fresh in store.

This won't last long. A few years back they tried to expand into Massachusetts until everyone here realized it was shit coffee and ran them out of town. There were like 5 Tim Hortons within a 25 mile radius that shut down within a year. I don't see how Canada loves this coffee so much.

Rejoice! Enjoy the chocolate glazed timbits my friends. May I also suggest a sausage BELT on a cheddar bagel. And now that global warming is quickly rising, cool yourself down with a refreshing Iced Cap!

The new chicken wraps are also bomb diggity.

Haha coffee culture.

Tim Horton's coffee is only good when loaded with milk and sugar.
That being said, the quality of coffee at Tim Horton's is highly variable. I never know exactly what I'll get when I go in.

Yup, same here in Maine. They couldn't even survive just over the border. They make Dunkin' Donuts look like gourmet food.

Without blind patriotism fueling sales, what's left? Terrible coffee and mediocre, but varied, baked goods.

yup

Idk, speaking as a Canadian I get the impression that those people are the ones that take their coffee with tons of cream and sugar, the actual coffee itself is like Folgers/garbage tier.

Iced capps are good....so is their regular coffee. That's about all I like.

You could throw a stone in Buffalo in any direction and hit a Tim Horton's.

As nice as it is to see Tim Horton's expanding, I could never recommend their coffee to anyone. It's pretty vile. Their breakfast and lunch combos are pretty decent though. Great bagel selection for the most part.

Their frozen Cappuccino was good when I had it in Toronto.

Anyway, their donuts are not bad....

Although I just had Krispy Kreme and their Glazed Donuts are amazing!

Because everyone in Massachusetts is a Dunkin Donuts stan.

Talk aboot blind patriotism...

Only good thing in tims is the Iced Cap now. They used to have good coffee and baked goods a few years back but then they started expanding like crazy and the quality went out the window.

I'm interested to see what all the fuss is about, because friends in Canada and the UAE never shut up about how amazing Tim Hortons is.

Now you guys can enjoy my breakfast...

The Iced Capp!

best frappacino in town.

So they're going up against Starbucks, Costa, Neros and Greggs?

Good luck with that.

Their coffee is McDonald's tier, so you'll never have the trendy coffee people migrating to Tims.

Greggs I can see as more of a competitor though. But I can see a place for both. Tims doesn't do savoury baked goods like Greggs, and Greggs don't match their selections of doughnuts, cookies, muffins and Danishes.

Oh, and iced caps are way better than frappacinos

Totally agree. Most people agree that McDonalds coffee is without a doubt better than Tim's.

Tim's used to be good. Now, its pretty below mediocre.

My condolences UK

Although the potato wedges I got from Tim's the other day weren't too bad

it's pretty good brewed coffee on the go

i can't complain.

I totally agree, and it's really cheap too! I really enjoy their morning sandwiches as well as the occasional lunch. You can't compare this to Starbucks as they totally are in 2 different price brackets. I can get a coffee, hash and sandwich at Tim's for the same price as a coffee at Starbucks.

As far as on the go coffee and food goes, IMO Tim's is perfect. I work on a military base and the lineups in the morning for Tim's are crazy long!

All I get from this is Canada needs to stop subjecting its military to Tim Horton's.
