(TIP) Get a real Job

The whole "Tip = Get a real job" thing has been around for years and years (like 30+). Usually the people who do it don't leave any tip at all.

Dude is lucky this isn't 18th century France.

This really isn't about tipping, this is a man abusing the tip to demonstrate that he has no respect for other people or the lives they are forced -for whatever reason- to lead.

It's additionally insulting because there is still a recession and clearly this particular individual has learned absolutely nothing from it.

Also: investment banking is about as far as you can get from 'a real job' as anything I can think of.

Going out of your way to insult someone says quite a bit about this guy's personality. What motivated him to write that down. Other diners with him encouraging him? Trying to impress someone he was with? Just feels a need to talk down to people so he can feel better about himself?

I went to dinner last night and the subtotal (before taxes) was $53. I tipped 8 bucks electronically (credit card payment) and tipped an extra $4 (two toonies).

Is it wrong that I refuse to tip when I order a pizza for carryout? I certainly tip if I get a delivery but I hate the concept of tipping for a carryout order.

The fuck? Why would you tip on a carryout? Delivery absolutely but carryout, might as well do that for Mcdonalds.

As for tip well for bad service, no no no. You tip to the level of the service you get. If it sucks, then the tip will suck.

No they're not, people like that need to be taught a lesson

Okay True, but i would beat the shit into him given the chance

You've totally ruined my attempt at caricaturing the vindictiveness of some people in this thread. It's now indistinguishable from a serious post.

People who tip 10-15%+ on bad service are why it's almost impossible to get good service anymore.

At this point I'd rather (assuming all 3 meals cost the same) tip 0% 0% and then 50% even though it would cost more than 15% 3 times.

The only place near me that doesn't have bad service is a sushi/japanese place, so it's basically the only place I go to often.

I'm not sure if you're being serious, but that seems like a pretty fucking harsh form of payback to me.

The waitress got a shitty tip from one guy, her life will go on. In the end she's gonna have the last laugh since this story going viral probably means a lot more customers discovering and dining at the restaurant.

Still I would like to think it was this man...

I usually just explain to waitresses that I've only got exact change for my meal so I wont be tipping but I'd be happy to place my order directly with the kitchen and then collect my food from the pass when its ready.

Less awkward that way.

Lol I don't know why people make up shit to demonize extremely wealthy people.

Plenty of them do actual dirty shit. I guess those dumbasses gotta have something to do on their MacBooks when they go camping in the park.

Hmm I stand corrected then.

But seriously, this shows how both sides are extreme, both the rich and poor.

The article where it claims the receipt is fake, it says it was faked by an employer to look like it was written by his boss who is an arsehole.

They took the quotes directly out of the original article. I think it's pretty clear that the person with the blog just photoshopped the receipt to get a bunch of hits for his site, which means his so called boss may not even be real.

Edit:

Now that I see that the person took down their blog/twitter, I'm starting to wonder what the point of this whole thing was.

The real elephant in the room is that no one respects waiters or retail employees. This is a cultural problem in America and it has zero to do with the top 1%. For decades, we have told consumers constantly "the customer is always right". This practice has created overly dramatic, entitled behavior if a waiter or cashier doesn't kiss a customer's feet.

When I was in college, I recall a Canadian saying how he found it was creepy that all waiters and cashiers are so friendly and helpful here. I told him that 90% of it is a put on that stemmed from us conditioning consumers and employees being terrified that they'll be fired if they don't kiss ass.

Here is a question for the masses. How much do you tip for delivery food?

A fixed value makes the most sense... it's not like $20 of food vs $10 of food requires twice as much effort to drive over...

hmmm...

I round it up to the nearest note.

inb4 'lol what is this the 14th Century, who uses money?'

Of course i don't think he should be poisoned, but people like that should be taught a lesson, people like that make me sick to my stomach and i would not hesitate in knocking someone like that out. Smug, stuck up, low life pricks that think they're better then everyone else.

5 or 6 if it's just for me. More if we're ordering for multiple people.

Maybe the banker was mad at the waitress because she ignored his attempts to seduce her.

Also he has a weird way of writing the digit Seven, it could easily be mistaken as the digit One. I beleive the correct way to write it is like this:

Are you serious? Are you, fucking, serious? The person that posted this was too fucking lazy to even use a real check and just write it down himself? Are you fucking kidding me? Fucking hell hoaxes these days are nothing more than moving around some digital pixels. You call yourself a hoaxer, a pranker? Fuck you you piece of donkey doo doo. Fuck you.

First the fake pregnant girl who was kicked into an abortion and now this. Making it difficult to have any sympathy for the OWS people.
