Tips for a Persona 4 Golden newcomer?

some questions

(1) Personas - do Personas you get in dungeons automatically get registered? I know if you level your Personas you need to re-register them to have the new stats/skills/levels recorded but what about brand new Persona (cards) that you get from Dungeons?

(2) Passive Skills - Do passive skills of inactive Personas that Yu bring along come into effect during battle? Or only the passive skills of the current ACTIVE Persona?

(3) Critical Cast - Is there a passive skill that allows for auto-cast critical?

(4) Stacking Skills - Which skills stack and which passive skills are most useful/recommended?

1) If they're new, yes. If not, then no. It's up to you if you want to register the persona you got in the dungeon via random shuffle. I don't see why you would want to do this though.

2-3) Going to leave these to someone else to answer them.

4)Any of the buff+mind charge+power charge equivalent to mind charge will stack. I think that's it. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

General tips for P4:
Even though I recommend not to follow any of the tips and do a blind run first to get the optimal experience, I'll share some.

1) Beat the dungeon as soon as possible- more time to max social links with your teammates.

2)If you want to max social links in your first run through: Use the shrine at night and always save before using it. You always want the max luck charm.

3)SMT rule: always fuse to get stronger persona/demons.

4) Physical Attacks are seriously overpowered in this version of Persona 4. Keep multiple hit persona with crits skills like sharp student.

5)If you really want an easier time with P4, if you see a gold hand, go up a floor and then go back. That gold hand will be respawn at that same floor 75% of the time. To coincide with 4, just spam physical attacks. Thus why Chie is probably the best partner for your team since she is really useful against them.

6) The last party member to join is also overpowered in this version. Let that person join your team equipped with a ring that reduces your SP and you will have an easier time in the optional dungeon later in the game(if you manage to unlock it).

They made P4: the golden easier than P4, which was easy before. However, the Persona games are a great breakthrough to the SMT series. Enjoy the game since it will probably have a lasting impact on you.

some questions

(1) Personas - do Personas you get in dungeons automatically get registered? I know if you level your Personas you need to re-register them to have the new stats/skills/levels recorded but what about brand new Persona (cards) that you get from Dungeons?

Yes. You have to accept the card though. If you just pick the card out of shuffle time and toss it because you already have a full stable of personae, then the persona won't get registered.

(2) Passive Skills - Do passive skills of inactive Personas that Yu bring along come into effect during battle? Or only the passive skills of the current ACTIVE Persona?

Current only

(3) Critical Cast - Is there a passive skill that allows for auto-cast critical?

There's a move called Apt Pupil. It doubles the chance of delivering a critical hit. Different moves have different critical rates however.

(4) Stacking Skills - Which skills stack and which passive skills are most useful/recommended?

Counter skills don't stack. Skills that boost certain elements stack. Passive skills that increase elemental damage and ones that boost the evasion/attack/defense of the party are the most useful.

The Yukiko fight is one of the hardest because players are usually underleveled. For the other fights, you will be around the right level without much grinding. I just played normally and did most of the quest and had no problem afterwards.

The only tip I have for you is to save when the game tells you to do so.

The best girl is Hanako. Forget about all those crazy wars between Chie, Yukiko, and Rise fans. The best girl is Hanako.

You can get the best ending but you're not maxing out everybody's links. Maybe the main chars, but...

Spoiler Safeties:
Don't go into any P4A/P4U2 threads
Don't Google Shit
Don't Wiki Shit
Turn off your internet

Gameplay Safeties:
There are multiple bad endings. HAVE MULTIPLE SAVEFILES.
YOU CAN MISS THE TRUE ENDING.

And since it's Golden..
DO MARIE'S SOCIAL LINK

You can max everyone's S. Link on your first playthrough and with weeks to spare. Meaning you can make mistakes, unlike P3.

my advice:

run the sound through a bluetooth enabled amp wirelessly (a great feature of vita), or run a 1/8th plug to a nice headphone amp. The soundtrack is fantastic.

I started playing P4G a few days ago. I actually own and played a good chunk of the original on PS2 but quit
when I got to a boss that was (I think) a giant baby, or something, that didn't die even though his health bar was fully depleted. I'm not one to entertain stupid changes in game rulesets that have no explanations so I quit out of frustration.
is that still in this version? Was there a trick I needed to do?

Nope, no trick at all. It probably just had some health left and the HP bar only looked like it was empty. Just remember to destroy his shell really fast and then burst out the damage, don't let it rebuild the shell! Also Black Frost is the Persona you want to have for this fight.

And in general it really helps to grind a few levels during the first dungeons. If you can beat the bonus boss of the previous dungeon you're good to go at the normal boss of the next dungeon.

Yes, you just have to beat on him a little longer if I remember correctly.

I love them. It's the easiest way to get to Lv. 99.

Just use Almighty skills on them.
Almighty skills or the items that do magic damage. They always do the same damage regardless of resistance. Crit up + physical attacks works extremely well too.

the Sea Guardian is ARGHHHH
When I was doing that in my last playthrough it showed up the first time but I fucked it up and then it took like 20 more times before it even showed up again.
