One smart thing to do to avoid inconveniencing users would be to put a 1-2 week delay from when the update is available to when it is mandatory on both systems, add background downloading of updates, and if the user has a background downloaded update, prompt them on boot up on whether or not they'd like to install it.

Well, based off what Microsoft announced at E3 this year, the 360 should be getting a new dashboard, TV subscription, UFC application, Youtube support and of course more Kinect features like additional voice recognition support for a lot of the apps.
