Titanfall is nothing to be excited about

Agree. OP doesn't know what he's talking about. He's trying to masquerade his own subjective opinion as an objective observation and nobody is falling for it.

And the people here who havent played it either and are blindly cheerleading the game arent doing the exact same thing?

Lol no way. Titanfall is a new IP has no fan base. Yeah people are excited for it but its hype will be nothing compared to the MW2 and GTA5 hype
Are there people excited for it or not?

Some people are excited, but others not?
What's the appropriate level of excitement?
I think it looks pretty fun, but certainly not spectacular looking. I'm actually surprised the same people who shat on COD's visuals and tech don't shit on TitanFall's. Honestly, they saved it for the last big exclusive, but when it came on it looked borderline last gen. If it was on a new engine with next gen lighting, textures, shadows etc, maybe it would be more impressive.
Who are those people? Why are graphics such a fundamental critique? I can think of several high profile games that are very pretty, but have very little substance behind that facade.

Honestly, the only game people should be excited about is Star Citizen. Every other answer is wrong.

Essentially, and I agree with the OP, this game looks like COD with huge robots.

Even if it is, does that mean no one should want to play it? This whole thread is full of "I don't like it so no one else should like it either." It's ok not to like something but is it that hard to see why others would want to play something like this?

Essentially, and I agree with the OP, this game looks like COD with huge robots.

If you have played Titanfall you know that it's basically Hawken with COD mixed in. Should be a good game, and plenty of people who enjoy FPS's, like me, will be there day one.

As for the amount of hype it gets, maybe it's the marketing or that the Respawn guys making it.

So ever since it's reveals I am still not sure what is everyone's obsession with this game. Why is this even so hyped? I've seen people in threads bash COD and then go on to praise Titanfall like its gonna do something new with the genre.

But from everything i've read and seen for this game, it's basically the multiplayer for COD but more Future warfare (Robots) and some jumping around from Brink. The gameplay looks pretty much EXACTLY like COD, down to the points and a thousand banners popping on the screen after a kill. Yeah they got double jump now and some running, mechs seem cool but all of this has been done many times in FPS before and probably better. Mechs pretty much look like the same gameplay but at a slower pace.

Maybe I'm jaded but I expect more of the same COD experience with a few new twists. Like every other COD clone out there.

I agree. Especially the part about Brink.

Its being overhyped because it's exclusive. If it were multiplat, people would be sh*tting on this game and saying it should be $30 on XBL/PSN since it's multiplayer only. Let's be honest... it's really the only reason to own a XB1 over a PS4 right now
please don't ban me
. So I think some of that crowd (and media) are doing whatever they can to hype it up as much as possible.

No Campaign, No Co op, and we don't even know how many maps will be in the game.

Since it's multiplayer only, all it will take is a couple things to completely break it and make it unplayable. I remember Commando, One Man Army, and Noob Tubes in Zampella's last game, MW2. Great game that became almost unplayable due to the noob tubing and unbalanced perks.

With that said.... Titanfall does look fun and I will buy it, since I buy COD every year. There just isn't anything special about it IMO. The graphics barely even look next-gen. It looks like a 360 game, so I'll just get it on 360.

Agreed, I don't think the world was clamoring for another COD clone.

dont think its a COD clone but inspired by COD with improvements (but thats BF). Ok with additional mechanics (sure thats fun). But how is it hyped as the best game and people screaming to bring it to other platforms. I will gladly be happy to be proven wrong come march though

it looks fun to me. it looks like a next gen game that isn't too interested in being mature and dark. It reminds me of a new arcade shooter or something. Just crazy, fast action with big robots.

Im kinda in the same boat and dont see all the hype.
Its like people are "looking" for something to hype up on X1 and i just dont see it.

I own PS4 and X1 and Titanfall isnt somethign that got me to buy the console oddly.
Prolly gonna buy it to see what its all about and try somethign fresh but its hardly a omg game to me

Looks like 360 version will be just fine - no real upgrade to the One version visually. Certainly not a reason to buy the One.

I don't have and XBone and won't purchase one, but I certainly recognize this is the future of FPS games. I'll have it on PC. The break neck speed, flying to get into combat vs. just flying around looking for something to happen is HUGE. The use of tower offense. This game just looks like it's going to give you all kinds of reasons to do something other than just shooting directly in front of you.

Titanfall is over hyped but tell me a major game by a major studio that isn't. It looks like a lot of fun. Since I am horrible at FPS games I will probably not even try it since I already have a vast library of FPS to suck at but it really looks like a great game.

Am I being cynical or is it wrong to expect this game to launch with horrible online issues considering EA's recent track record? That's really the one thing preventing me from having any hype at all.

But for a lot of people TitanFall IS something to be excited about. I loved CoD4 and MW2 and getting another FPS by the makers of those games has me excited. I am also excited for the fact that they are ditching the single player part of the game and focusing on multi-player a trend that I hope more FPS makers will follow (with exceptions like Borderlands, Fallout, Bioshock ect). Call me low brow or something but TitanFall looks fun as hell, and I cant wait to get it on my PC

Why does this game have some weird negative force against it from a select number of folks? I havent seen anything like it. Game looks rad as fuck and looks to be the next big franchise in multiplayer shooters. Regardless of platform, good games are good games.

I saw the thread title and came in expecting to see someone describing a game they have played but no, we just have someone voicing their opinion as some kind of fact without having a clue what they are talking about.
I don't get why these kind of 'opinion' threads aren't banned anyway, especially if the op hasn't even played the said game.

The robots, the walking/running on walls/traversal.

New things from CoD's formula. It looks interesting.

I agree that it isn't looking "ZOMG AMAZING HAVE YOU SEEN TITANFALL?!" but it looks worth checking out when the price drops.

I think it looks pretty good but it's the oddest "next best thing" game I've seen. It's going to be huge because the industry has said it so. And once that train gets rolling there's nothing stopping it. Too much money and it's too big to fail. The odd thing with this one versus all other games that had hype leading up to it, this one seems more driven by the media and publishers more then the out pouring of the fanbase loosing their shit with every piece of media shown and the media feeding this craze. Like MGS2, or OOT, etc.

Still looks to be a fun but unbalanced game.

Modes.

Without more modes beyond different variations of team-based competitive matches, I don't have much interest in the game. MP-only is a tough line to walk.
