Titanfall sells 10 million copies

Best pvp game this gen. Shame there wasn't more to it. If they're happy with their sales, I'm happy for them. This petty fanboy shit is farcical.

So according to this they hit 7 million unique users last November. Since then it's been added to EA access and been sold for dirt cheap in several places.

What's more reasonable based on that 10 million sold or 10 million unique users?

These things are usually front loaded so I'd guess the latter but who knows.

If they actually sold 10 million copies, even for $5 - that is quite the feat on only three platforms, especially with xbone's low install base and PC's crowded FPS market. Since giving out sales numbers goes against EA policy and I don't think Zampella wants to open himself to another lawsuit, I'm going to assume that it is unique players.

The crowded FPS market on PC isn't an issue, it's still the biggest FPS market and if it comes out with the right price there is plenty of people who would purchase it.
$5 is honestly a very good price for a game like Titanfall and it's no wonder it has managed to sell 10 million across Xbox and PC. For a multiplayer game making $5 and potentially bringing another player into your shooter is pretty paramount. Hence a lot of PC shooters are played years later as long as they have an active playerbase. They needed to spur this game if they wanted to have a successful sequel and this type of number is very promising for them.
I was never too interested in the game myself but if Titanfall 2 actually manages to change the FPS formula substantially I will probably consider it.

As a huge fan of the game, I'm thinking the reference is to unique players, but that still means the sell through is pretty damn high, especially for a new IP.

The playerbase has been pretty good on XB1 since launch, so I'm guessing the lions share of the 10 mil is on XB1.

Can't wait to see what Respawn does with more time and resources, and I assume that the sour grapes shit will finally stop once TF2 drops on PS4.

Thats what im talking about!!! Lovvvvved titanfall and still play time to time just to relive the moments of calling in my titan. Hehehe

but at the same time EA is worth more than ever before. Their stock value more than double within 1 year.

Most of that might be star wars though.

I think that's because almost all of their games are huge successes. Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare (one of the best mutliplayer titles this gen), Dragon Age: Inquisition (the first next gen open world RPG and largest Bioware launch), Battlefield 4 (best multiplayer console game this gen, hands down), annual sports titles that aren't called NBA Live, etc.

I can't think of any recent missteps so it is easy to see their stock value increasing and I expect it to continue to do so in the future with upcoming games like Star Wars: Battlefront, Mirror's Edge: Catalyst and Mass Effect: Andromeda. This is what happens when you make good games without packing it with obtrusive DLC and shady practices EA.

Yeah, I think 10 million unique users is pretty good. Destiny has twice as much but it is continuously advertised even today and is on PS4 as well as xbone. I look forward to Titanfall 2 on PS4, I just hope they use UE4 and have a campaign. :3

Got to be referring to unique players.

Either way, good news. My favorite shooter that was introduced this gen so far. Really looking forward to the sequel.

So many people trying to downplay Titanfall. Just like in the other thread where people said all kinds of negative things about the game and most likely hadn't even played it. Yeah some people legit didn't like it. But most of that was because it wasn't on their console of choice.

Downplay? Everyone is just looking for clarification. Seems like people are quick to jump on the defense.

Just booted this up on PC last night, there were about 432 peeps getting their shoot on.

Titanfall is a fantastic game!

I'm really excited for 2, as long as they keep it running on Azure.

A change to shitty EA Servers means no buy for me.

lol, 10 million could be anything. Let's see if any gaming "news" sites source this thread for any 10 millions sales articles.

Also congratulations to Bloodbourne for 20 Million
Deaths

Regardless of exact numbers, seems like the game did well for them as a new IP. I picked it up and tried it, but like most online competitive games, it's not really for me. I'm the weirdo that buys Call of Duty just for the campaign, lol.

I bought the game for dirt cheap digital. The game is on sale quite regularly and it was added to EA Access. So I imagine that helped immensely. I'm hoping the sequel has a lot more longevity with the playerbase. I don't play online shooters like I used to but I love Tiranfall's movement system and the titans are not overly powerful. I hate the A.I. fighters though...either way I have a lot of faith the sequel will be much better. I like that it's not an annual title and I'm hoping PlayStation owners get a shot at playing it too. And a campaign.....okay I'm done rambling now

edit: if keeping Titanfall on Azure servers instead of EA servers means exclusivity, so be it. Based on initial Crackdown impressions I'm especially hopeful for any potential effect they'll have on Titanfall.

Wow, didn't expect that...

I knew it was successful, but this is big.

Maybe industry should adapt average price per unit when talking about sales , not only pure number of units sold.

plz explain how many of those were $5 sales.

Why does it matter? How many games hit $5 and still don't sell 10 million? For a new IP launching on the less popular console (not counting PC), one without a single player campaign, it's been a success no matter if GAF or others think it didn't have longevity. I mean we had a thread the other day asking why TitanFall didn't stick around but Destiny did etc.

I don't have enough imaginary hands to count the people who would have bought it were it on Steam, and using it's social platform.
Titanfall 2 will be ridiculous. They know what they are doing. Now they just need to deliver.

Umm no one is downplaying anything...

All that $5 sale downplaying. The game was played by at least 10 million people. Because it's the first game in a new IP that will certainly become a running franchise, this is a tremendous success in mindshare. People are getting so caught up in the dollar figure that they're missing the bigger picture.

Hoppin on my PC @Velocialume lets surf some walls dudes

Holy shit, I had no idea it did that well.

Great game, came in hot and a little undercooked but really has it where it counts. Its the modern warfare of this gen, and I'm totally in for a sequel.

Regardless of the price discounts, giveaways e.t.c its still a fantastic achievement. Loved the game and been meaning to jump back in, so glad its doing well enough a sequel is inevitable.

Cant wait to see what is improved for the sequel

Woah, all the praise in this thread surprises me. I remember hearing that this game sucks and seeing no praise for it at all. Everyone was just maximum shitting on it.
