apples and oranges

CS:GO is not competitive FPS?

On any platform.

The OP title give me the wrong impression... can a mod fix it?

10 million what?

How many are free copies?

Not bad after all.

If 7 million of the sales were of the 5$ variety it could still be a flop.

If there is one thing I hate about the fire-sale aspect of PC gaming is it completely hides the true success of pretty much all PC products.

But then I'm still annoyed I allowed myself to get suckered into paying full price for Titanfall.

Worst PC $/game quality purchase I've made in years (keeping in mind that I pretty much never buy anything at full price on PC).

You actually think all that much of its sales were of the 5$ variety? Lol.

Didn't the game chart 1st overall in the first 2 months it was available.

From a cost perspective didn't it follow roughly the same path that most games follow?

Full game trials and users that were able to play via EA Access (a subscription service that lets you play Titanfall along with a handful of other EA games as you like for a fee).

Doesn't sound like free to me. Just a different business model.

I still can't think of a better to be honest. Its all subjective of course. The core gameplay somehow managed to feel exciting and new in an over saturated FPS market. With titanfall seeing is believing. Seriously though best new FPS for a while.

Very impressive Respawn, congrats. I really enjoyed the game myself, can't wait to see what they do with a sequel.

No surprise that people find a way to shit up good news like this, I guess it goes against their narrative that Titanfall sucked and no one played it.

"Have you seen it hurr durr?" Yes, 10 million people saw it.

Its probably the best competitive FPS to come out for a couple of years sure.

Preach brother!

Fuck, thought about 4, 5 million. Welp. Exclusive deal didn't hurt it "much". Might have the chance to become a monster franchise.

Fake edit: With all those caviats mentioned here, it's not thaaaat impressive, stilll huge potential for the future.

I think it is a modestly success first entry into a franchise that can skyrocket. I think that is what the bigger story about TF is. Even Assassin's creed didn't start out flying towards the moon. And while that is a franchise that I am not hugely a fan of, Assassin's creed 1 was also a rather modest minimalist entry and then assassin's creed 2 launched the franchise into the big leagues.

The other story is that people can't accept the fact that Titanfall is a successful MP only game. People are already calling R6 Siege a failure because it doesn't have a traditional singleplayer campaign. And they are citing TF as an example of a MP only game being unsuccessful.

I don't remember anyone hoping the game would fail for any reason.

i don't think anybody outright stated, 'i hope this game fails'

but i don't believe for a second that the general, passive aggressive negativity towards the game wasn't motivated by its not being on playstation, in part

This.

But hey, now we know, its users, which is still a pretty good number and worth celebrating. So now we can all congratulate Respawn on a job well done, and encourage them with how we're all looking forward to a sequel with tweaks that even more people can enjoy.

At least those of us who aren't going to watch this thread and correct everyone who comes in to speak about the 10 million sales because its REALLY important that nobody thinks that :)

It would be a good game if it didn't have needless bots and some sorta of depth to ranking up/more weapons.

I think making a level design for this type of game will be difficult.

Well that's fucking ironic lol, yesterday you were so against any title change and it was REALLY important to you that people believe there is a possibility of 10 million sales.

Congrats to Respawn. TF is a great game and I've had more fun playing it than any CoD released since blops 1.

I paid $60 for my copy. The hype was real and I got a lot of gameplay out of it for months, even if it didn't retain me past 2014.

That is an inaccurate representation of what I said. I merely questioned changing the title until we knew for sure, I even made the concession that it would be fine if the title were changed to "VZ celebrates 10 million of something". And previous to that I said that it'd make sense for it to be players given EA access non sold players.

Then I came back and acknowledged what it apparently is given respawn never talks sales. Before I merely questioned how much we should lean on NPD given it doesnt count digital, and questioned one other post about a completely unrelated tweet about DC.

I was amused to come back today 7 pages later and still see the same people making damn sure nobody thinks the game sold 10 million, because its really important to them that a few gaffers dont think that. What with the mythical frenzy of media attention to the sales numbers that was the given reason for the concern never really materializing, there cant be much other reason for them to do so... right?

I like you, I hope you last here.

Meanwhile, I see this thread is a good one to come to if I need some more flavor for my french fries.

Indeed, he seems to be watching this thread pretty closely

I'm primarily a PS4 gamer, but this is one of the handful of games I've bought for the Bone (granted, for $8 on sale), and it is a great multiplayer shooter.

Most fun I've had with a multiplayer FPS in years. Bring on a sequel in 2016.

yeah, myst sold 6 million opies on pc, but most of those "sales" were given away for free when you bought something else. total bs.
