Just to clarify, Mubarak means blessed (by God, of course), and Eid is something you celebrate (because it happens on an annual basis), so it means "blessed celebration" which is just a greeting the same way saying "good morning" is a greeting.

Oh, and I didn't know it was Eid until I started getting e-mail from my family and friends.

Congrats on the marriage, Kabuki-- I'm sure most of us had no idea. Did you make a topic about it? :)

Don't you mean Shi'ites? Excuse my ignorance, but do you guys celebrate eid?

Ya we're muslims too, teepo is outta his mind :)

Anyways, is Eid really tomorrow or is is Friday? I know for Saudi Arabia it's tommorrow but for NA when Ramadan started a day later, shouldn't it be Friday?

Our family is celebrating it tomorrow (thursday). We'll see about the community as whole and when the prayer is going to be held.

Eid Mubarak to everyone!

My family will be celebrating it this weekend sometime, when I get back into town hopefully. And Eid Mubarak to all!

It translates to "Blessed Festival". The festival is Eid ul fitr. And yes, Allah does come into play. Generally a response would be "May Allah bless this day for you, as well". I'm not sure how you would say that though.

Edit: I'm a Saphardic Jew, though. I just know random things about Muslamic culture because of my grandfather who knows a shit load about Middle-eastern and Asian cultures. He can speak 17 languages and all.

HOW?! O_O
