Today or tomorrow will be my last day on XP. Who's still left?

Ah alright. Thanks for the info. Since I've been barely following info on the 10, are there any backward compatibility issues or anything along those lines? Will eg. older games or programs not work with 10?

I've not run into any, but I've not tried running DOSBOX, Heroes of Might and Magic and such yet. I'm expecting it'll run fine since they did on Windows 8.1.

I was thinking to ease in to 7 for year or so and then go to 10?

That sounds like a good plan.

one of my several work laptops is still on fucking xp

the <4gb ram limit is what really kills me about it

issued by a major bank too

I don't know if that counts -- I mean, my personal PC is on win 10 but when I have to do work for that client, its all I've got

Windows XP was amazing in the 2000s. I remember when I had my IBM Thinkpad and seeing it work was truly glorious. That loading bar though :D.

When I was a Computer Instructor, my lab was still running XP. It got to the point where I wanted to take the initiative and upgrade the PCs to Ubuntu since the computers were old as hell.

Finally upgrading my PC and I'm gonna have to leave my old friend behind. It's been quite a ride.

Anyone still left here who still uses XP on his primary PC?

Goodbye Zune.

Was the Start button always so ugly? It's crazy how design sense changes so quickly.

I remember the first time I saw Windows XP. I loved that Azul wallpaper.

Can't believe that was like 15 years ago.

Why would u still use xp? Ctrl all deleting takes twice the time, works half the time, and is needed twice as much.. Why anyone who is not a luddite would still be using xp is incomprehensible to me

Money, dawg, but I need a PC anyway, since mine is very loud, no matter how much I clean it. Bought it in 2007.

It doesn't bring up Paint when I type "mspaint" so it's useless to me :P

It seems that with every new release of Windows you have people claiming that Search is really damn good now. Maybe it is improving, but from 7 through to 10, I have seen no Windows Search work a fifth as well as Everything. Be sensible - use Everything.

There's a computer lab within the non-profit I work at with early 2000 Pentium 4 computers loaded with XP on them.

I took the Plunge on 7 after my last big upgrade in 2010. It's been nice. Win 10 is legit except for the whole Microsoft wanting to datamine the shit out of your system 24/7.

No escaping xp. The offices are still using it

My dentist's office still uses it. I was actually kind of surprised by that fact. Even my terribly outdated company upgraded our systems about 3 years ago from old Dell GX270/280s to some decent systems. I mean they aren't even close to top of the line (even some Core 2 Duos with 2GB of RAM are out there somewhere), but at least they run Win7 (barely).

I am. I'll keep an OS until I do an entirely new build. My current pc is from 2008, but I've done so many fixes that I think the only original part is the 8800GT.

I appreciate XP for what it was, but I left it the day that Windows 7 came out (no Vista for me).

I also remember when everybody hated XP because it was so bloated and slow compared to Windows 2000 (which I used well past its prime). XP really came into its own as soon as the hardware needed to run it well showed up.

Had to leave Xp years ago when this machine became my main and using xp on it was impossible almost no drivers for these parts.

Whoever made the vista reference too funny.

We don't even have XP on the computers at work anymore. And you know how long it takes corporations to upgrade their computers.

Though the customer facing kiosks do still use XP in the backend. Though the machines are slow pieces of shit in the first place anyway and probably wouldn't run 7 anyway.

It's been years since I've actually had to use XP, but overall I liked that OS

and R.I.P. XP mspaint too

Just to put this in perspective, if you'd waited this long to upgrade to XP back when it was released, you'd have been upgrading from DOS 3.2.

I'm still stuck with XP at work until they upgrade me (and most of my team) to Windows 7. God knows how long it'll take to move to 10 after that.

I liked XP at the time but still using it now when we have 7, and 8, and 8.1, and 10...man. It's a piece of shit. Multimonitor support is awful. Office functionality is stripped down in many cases, the file browser is beyond basic, and worst of all it's buggy as shit and a crashed program will more than likely bring down the whole OS or at least cause things to hang for a minute or two. I might as well be using Windows ME.
