Tom Hardy wants to be The Punisher

jesus christ the wanking over thomas jane as the punished is almost as bad as the fan wanking over the first superman movies. The type of people that still want them to put the reeves movie theme into the new movies somehow. Dude isn't coming back, his punisher and his movie honestly were decent, and it completely failed to capture the character. Lets just be truthful here. Jane in no way gave a performance that cant be topped for the character. Its not iconic. Plenty of people could do punisher just as well, many better. We have yet to have a punisher movie (or show) that really has everything together. We've gotten 3 decent movies with 3 different actors that each did different things right. (yes even the dolph lundgren one.)

Thomas Jane fucking sucked in The Punisher. Only thing redeeming about that movie was Big Daddy Cool Kevin Nash.

Hardy would make a great Punisher. Although he seems to think it's a Warner movie? It is very refreshing to see an actor that is very interested in a role. Dude has been chasing Splinter Cell for ages, and now Punisher may be his second target.

Scott Adkins

Yeah, it'll be the guy that isn't a good actor.

Definitely but I'd rather see a Punisher TV Show on Netflix rather than an actual movie. I very much doubt Mr. Hardy would like to star in a TV Show over a high budgeted MCU film.

Best wishes.

I'd take any Punisher movie .. I love the Punisher first movie was really good warzone was so so
We're not getting a Punisher movie now or in the foreseeable future.
Now a Punisher Netflix series is almost a guarantee for Phase 2 of Marvel's Netflix slate.

Isn't Hardy already on a Netflix series?
If he is, then I don't see why he shouldn't get the role then. He's a good actor & would probably do Punisher justice.

I'm cool with this, but since he is already playing another loner anti-hero in Mad Max I'd prefer somebody else. But still think he'd be good either way.

If Thomas Jane had been given the chance I think he could have attained a Hugh Jackman like symbiotic resemblance with the Punisher. Fits him perfectly.

No, it doesn't. The Frank he played in that movie isn't very much like any Frank I consider to be good, and especially not the Frank he was inspired by (Ennis, Welcome Back Frank).

He did an okay job in a shit movie but he was miscast then and he's still miscast. This narrative regarding him being robbed seems to stem entirely from people discovering the film later and appreciating that it wasn't the total, irredeemable fucking turd they'd been told it was, compounded by the fact the fan-film with the Joker music was violent, and he didn't really have to talk. And with years of repetition, it's become some sort of weird superhero-fan dogma that "Jane wuz Robbed," and as reassuring as it may be to repeat it and know people are going to knee-jerk agree with it, he's still a mediocre Punisher in a not-good movie, and there's nothing he did in the role that another actor couldn't do, and better.

As evidence by the fact people keep bringing up fucking Frank Grillo and Scott Adkins as viable alternatives.

if tom hardy wants to be pubisher. Then tom hardy can be punisher.

He could pull that off.

this post contains large amounts of truth. I'm baffled to see so many liking Jane as Punisher, such a boring ass performance and movie given the source material

Thought Stevenson was better than Jane, but neither of them brought anything particularly noteworthy to the role. (Also going to pretend Lundgren's movie didn't exist - since they acted that way too).

That said, I don't feel like Hardy fits the role well. I'm sure he'd do a fine job. Perhaps, even better than his predecessors. Still, I'd rather someone new.

I'd really like to see them base the show off of the current run from Edmondson or even the Rucka run.

Punisher on Netflix is a no-brainer. It will happen. I think Rucka's run of the character would be perfect for Netflix. We'll see....

Watched The Punisher again this weekend. It's a slightly above average movie but that doesn't matter because Thomas Jane da bess.

Not Tom Hardy, PLEASE no

Thomas Jane was good, but there's only a hardcore old guard (me included) who seem to like him in the role

Therefore, get Aaron Eckhart

Strong resemblence to Thomas Jane to appease us old guard, looks Castle-y enough and has a proven acting track record to appease the new blood

Problem solved

why does anyone cast need to look like jane at all? Thats a horrible way to cast.

i honestly like him as an actor, but I really don't see him as the punisher in any way shape or form. A very weird choice honestly.

Just case Manu Bennett.

He'd nail playing a character who cries because his 'love interest' died and declares revenge on people who had absolutely nothing to do with it.

If he means to imply he wants to play a more interesting character, someone should really tell him going from Rick Flagg to The Punisher or Sam Fisher would be a lateral move.

But the John Williams Superman theme is better than anything in Man of Steel

Rucka's run was short and too much of it involved the rest of the MCU that they wouldn't touch in a TV show. They would have easier time doing Ennis run, the individual trade story lines is several seasons worth of content to take from.

Still doesn't fit and doesn't make sense to throw in a new movie that's going for something completely different. It's a good theme but I don't want to hear it in superman movies for the next 100 years.

I kind of wish we could not have Punisher stuff for a while. He's felt completely out of place since after the 90s even with well written stuff. More in the 'mainstream media' sense.

I wouldn't mind him playing The Punisher, but we all know that it won't happen if it is a TV series, but it would be awesome if it did.

If a Punisher movie does happen, I want the John Wick people behind it.

Well this would ideally be the case in a good Punisher movie

I think Hardy would be a decent Punisher. Not a great Sam Fisher. Funny enough, id prefer Thomas Jane for both roles.

Jane would make a great Fisher. Especially at his current age.
