  • Game is targeting a tentative 2026 release date, but it could be delayed further.
  • Quantic Dream is suffering from internal workplace struggles
  • Star Wars Eclipse is described as, “a new action-adventure, multiple-character branching narrative game set in the High Republic era of the iconic Star Wars™ galaxy, now early in development.”

Insider Gaming sources have revealed that Star Wars Eclipse, developed by Quantic Dream is targeting a tentative 2026 release date, but it could be delayed further.

The news comes from the same sources that revealed Chinese tech giant Netease would be acquiring Quantic Dream six months before it was officially announced (reported via eXputer).

Sources once again restated Quantic Dream’s struggle of hiring staff following allegations of workplace issues, including sexual harassment, crunch, and toxic work culture. In fact, one whistleblower who brought these allegations to light is still in legal battles with Quantic Dream – Which is expected to finalise later this year.

It’s understood that due to the scope of Star Wars Eclipse and alleged issues with hiring staff, the game could be delayed further from its 2026 target. Because of such date targets, Star Wars Eclipse is likely the most far-out Star Wars game that has been announced. So far, there are six announced Star Wars games in development that are yet to release.

Announcing games 5 years before you might release them is fucking stupid. This has got to stop.
Unfortunately I think this practice is going to stay simply because dev times have ballooned and studios need talent. These early announcements are essentially giant job ads for devs. CDPR admitted their 2013 announcement of Cyberpunk 2077 was for that reason.

I mean you could just announce it in your annual financial report etc., like what Remedy or TakeTwo do, or do a press release like what Rockstar did with Max Payne remakes. We don't see anyone having go at those announcements and being disappointed because they're years away. There's really no need for trailers and building up hype and expectations for something that is half a decade away at best.

Waiting for Todd Howard to show up with Elder Scrolls 6 announcement for 2030 :)
