Tomb Raider $13.60 on GMG (registers on Steam)

HAHAHA, I completely forgot I had $15 credit at GMG from when I preordered BioShock Infinite.

Bought Tomb Raider with over a dollar to spare! :D

Such a bizarre experience for me. It contains pretty much everything I despise in modern games, yet I still found myself having a decent amount of fun. That is, when it managed to not shove my ass down one of its comically daft, scripted set-pieces.

GMG has been processing my order for the past 10 mins, what should I do... :/

EDIT: just got the paypal recepit via email but still nothing from GMG.

What the heck is up with the DLC for this game? I only care about the single-player stuff, but it seems to be quite game-altering in nature. Avoid at all costs?

For example:

DLC said:
The Animal instinct skill lights up XP-laden animals in Survival Instinct mode, to help Lara upgrade more quickly (single player upgrade).

The headshot reticule lets Lara utilize her weapons more accurately. When used with the pistol silencer, it makes for a deadly combination (single player upgrade).

The Agility skill lets Lara ascend mountain faces more quickly and ensures she lands safely from higher falls (single player upgrade).

The three-shot burst pistol upgrade lets Lara unleash a hail of firepower on her foes (single player upgrade).

The pistol silencer lets Lara use stealthy tactics to overcome even the trickiest of situations (single player upgrade).

tressfx yo.

god i hope next gen utilizes that somehow.

Next gen space marines better all have luscious hair instead of being bald.

metro marines.

I'm playing through the game locked at 30fps because of TressFx. Do I think it's worth it?

I have this for PS3 but Hitman Absolution didn't play nice on my pc (then again I turned on too many settings I shouldn't have), dunno if I should double dip.

Much like any Square Enix game on PC in recent memory, price pretty much bombs in a few months time. Expect it to be $5 by December, if not earlier. Much in the same way Hitman: Absolution, Sleeping Dogs and Deux Ex: HR were also available for cheap within a relatively short period of time.

Jumped on Tomb Raider a month ago when it was $20 on GMG. My expectations were not incredibly high, but nevertheless I was a bit disappointed. Was hoping for something on the same level of quality as Uncharted, but I guess I should have known better. Not a bad game by any means though, it just takes a while before it opens up gameplay-wise. The writing is absolutely cringe-worthy at times, but at least it looks good, the length of the game was pretty solid as well. So I'd say this is still a pretty good deal.

should i use a controller for this? Might finally get some use out of big picture mode and a controller!
Yes, I played through the PC version entirely on a controller. Using a M/K for this game is pretty ridiculous, I don't really know why you would want to. QTEs on a keyboard was impossible at launch because they didn't even tell you which key the game was prompting you to mash. They may or may not have patched that since, doesn't really matter, play with a controller anyway.

It showed up as Tomb Raider (ROW) when I activated it. I haven't installed it yet but is that the normal version? I bought Saints Row 2 on PC from another site a while back (gamersgate I think) and it ended up being the heavily censored German version.

Unless you bought it in germany or a country that has an edited version then it should only be normal version. It goes by IP address just like steam for which version. So if you're in US or european countries that don't edit then you should be fine.

That just means "Rest Of World", you're fine. :)

This fucking website, I give up.

I made a new account because it would only show Euros on my prior account. Paying with Paypal or credit card both fail without any details of why.
