Tomb Raider and shaky cam

Did anyone else have trouble playing Tomb Raider (The 2013 game) due to the camera movement? I've looked online for any solution to disable the movement, but it's too much for me. What other games have similar cameras?

Add me to that list. At first I even disliked the game because of that effect, but I got used to it after some hours of playing. It gave me headaches, and I found it fairly pointless in general.

Gears of war had a shaky cam when utilizing the 'roadie run' mechanic

edit:heard people got sick when playing Alien isolation and the Evil Within for FOV issues (on consoles)

Within all the AAA games in the recent past, Tomb Raider must be the most fun of all of them.

I dont get the hate and the shaky cam dont upset me at all

Didn't you get the memo? Since the next game was confirmed Xbox-only, the whole series is now retroactively trash.

Did we play the same Tomb Raider? The story was just OK but the gameplay was excellent.

The story was so bad. I never skip cutscenes but in TR I had to skip multiple because they were so cringey. The writing was just awful and also the delivery of the voice actors... ugh. With not a single likeable character either. I loved TR 1, 2, 3 as a kid and I felt nothing for this whole origin story.

Thought the gameplay was nothing special. Most fun I had was raiding tombs but the puzzels were to easy and also scavenging and upgrading my guns.

I'm curious though, how different is this from Uncharted? I have never played an Uncharted game, what are the differences? I thought TR was a mediocre game at best, would I even like Uncharted? I want to buy and play UC 1,2,3 so I can get myself ready for UC4.

Didn't have any problems at all. I didn't even notice it which is surprising because I've had motion sickness from a number of games

The only wiredNess I saw in tomb raider was some of the larger areas the main light source would actually move when you went through a certain part.

Loved the new Tomb Raider, have played it 3 times. Never noticed the shaky cam. Even having trouble thinking about it now that it's been mentioned. Might be time for that 4 playthrough soon enough! :D

No game should have shaky cam unless if it's tied to the game's aesthetic i.e. Kane and Lynch 2. Even that game gave the option to turn it off.

You probably won't like Uncharted.

Yeah, I've played through on PC and PS4 and get the urge to buy the XB1 version when it's on sale just to have an excuse to play it again. It's my fav game of 2013 and I don't even remember a shaky cam. I'm sure it's there but I just didn't think about it.

First of all it is a timed exclusive again confirmed by Square Enix yesterday. So that reasoning does not make sense. Secondly TR is horrible. If they can make a sequel which is not trash I will be excited.

Skip UC1 and UC3 but play UC2 AKA one of the greatest games of all time and easily top 5 game of last gen.

What's with the sudden TR hate? OT I no problems here with it's camera effects whereas compared to Kane and Lynch 2 that was ridiculous.

Not true. I love Uncharted, hated the Tomb Raider reboot.

At best, the Tomb Raider reboot came off as serviceable but most of the time it had boring set-pieces and story pushing the game forward.

In fact, most of my enjoyment from the game came near the end where certain enemies spruced up the otherwise forgettable enemy encounters and gunplay.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but the amount of hate Tomb Raider 2013 gets around here is ridiculous.

I've been playing games for many years and I thought Tomb Raider was pretty awesome. Even your precious Naughty Dog seems to be taking notes if the Uncharted 4 gameplay trailer is any indication.

Don't bother quoting this post and replying with stupid GIF. I honestly don't give a shit.

It made me really nauseous. I was able to get through the game, but please add an option to disable it in the sequel.

lol. That reminds me i need to finish this game already before the new one drops. Got up to the snowy level before getting sidetracked by other shit, was pretty good from what i played up to that point.

Uncharted has better dialog but worse gameplay.

I didn't even notice that the game had a shaky camera. I feel for you, though. The shaky cam/movement in Wolfenstein TNO kept me from enjoying that game.

Uncharted has better dialog but worse gameplay.

I definitely wouldn't say that, they're just different. Uncharted is 100% action focused. Tomb Raider has light exploration and has a slower pace overall.

I don't hate the game. The story was poorly written and narrative flow and pacing were off. The characters were awful and poorly acted. The gameplay wasn't anything revolutionary by any means. People compare it to Uncharted but they aren't the same game at all.

I just found it boring. I had more fun with Tomb Raider Legend.

I'm not the biggest Tomb Raider fan myself I thought it was good but not amazing but the specific things he was complaining about in terms of gameplay seems to be aspects that are similar to Uncharted series and this is admittedly coming from someone who loves and devoted way to much times to those games.

.
Drake is a super likeable character, and most of the characters in Uncharted are. The gameplay through 3 was pretty standard, nothing that special. Tomb Raider's gameplay was a clear refinement and advancement of the first three Uncharted games. Uncharted 4's gameplay looks very Tomb Raider'ish though which is an excellent thing.

Tomb Raider's gameplay was nothing like Uncharted.

Just a note, I thought what I could play before getting too dizzy was pretty good. Unfortunate that there's no option to dampen the shaky cam since I liked what I saw

I will never understand GAF's hate for Tomb Raider. Even considering that "fun" is subjective and people are free to dislike whatever they want, the hate this excellent game receives is pretty unbelievable.

Tomb Raider and BioShock Infinite. GAF hates these games disproportionately to their quality.

My first time through Tomb Raider I noticed the shaky cam and it bothered me for the first 15 mins or so. It just so happened that there was a bug with the drivers that disabled effects like water on the camera so I didn't have that. My second time through. The shaky cam and having shit splatter on the camera drove me crazy for the first 15 mins, but eventually I didn't notice it anymore.

I really liked UC2, UC3 was pretty good as well, but I can never get my self to play through them a second time. I played through TLOU about four times now and TR13 two and a half time for what it's worth.
