Tonight is Kobe's last game. Anyone watching?

The fact that he scored 60 points and won does not mean that they wouldn't have won without him scoring 60 points. And guess why the team was averaging 41%. It was largely due to the fact that Kobe dragged it down that low thanks to shooting the most shots per game on a horrible 35%. So the average would have been higher if it weren't for him. And the rest of the team shot 54% during this game, higher than Kobe again.

You are playing in hypotheticals now. Yes he was a contributing factor in their issues but things weren't much prettier without him.

Let's stick to the facts. Kobe was the overwhelming focal point tonight and in games past this would of been a recipe for a loss and tonight he won the game. End of story.

Quit jumping through hoops to diminish a win you are indirectly giving more credit then it should be given the opponent.

He shot 44% with most of Utah defense doubling him...

But honestly who cares how many times hes shot!? This was his last game so why the fuck not? The guy has 5 rings he doesn't really need to prove much anymore.

Why are you hating on him? Are you a bitter lebron fan? I mean I don't understand why haters who clearly don't watch the nba all year want to come in this thread and shit on such a great player on an awesome perfonamce.

I have watched the lakers all seadon and KOBE won that game for the Lakers. If he passed those shots up they would have lost.

Ok man. You really showed me there.

Again I am going to ask- Is this supposed to be a thread where everybody just gushes over Kobe's last game? Why?

Naw, just a thread where people with reasonable expectations, marvel at an amazing outcome. Everyone expected Kobe to shoot at a high volume tonight. No one was sure if he would win the game but those final possessions were magical.

Most people can view this at face value. They aren't Stans or gushing, per se. They are in awe over an amazing last performance.

Not sure what else I can tell you, man.

And when measuring the best scoring seasons of players are you only using volume of points as the metric?? Because that's the only logic I can come to conclude with why that particular stat was being presented as some sort of trump card. I mean would you argue that was Jordan's best season as a scorer???

Yes at 37 PPG. I don't care if his team was inefficient or got swept in the playoffs, the accomplishment hasn't been matched since then.

Again, wtf is the point you are making with that injected argument of yours? Please explain for you have yet to do so.
That people need to slow down on the Curry hype train? He is having a great season but it's still one season. For anyone to claim Curry is a better scorer than Kobe at this point is premature.

You already have some who put Curry in the top 10 of all-time greats because of this season.

Loved it. Kobe is an absolute legend. My favorite of all time and it was so much fun seeing him go out with such enthusaism. Dude is going to have an amazing retirement.

I was the biggest MJ stan back in the day. What Kobe did tonight was amazing; there is nothing more to say.

Plus everyone in the stadium and at home wanted him to take those shots. Does he think people paying top $$$ for Kobe's final game to see him pass?

Lakers lose - typical Kobe ball hogging cost them the game.
Lakers win - typical Kobe ball hogging like he's done his whole career.

Haters gonna hate.

No offense but if that's really your psn, xbox live and steam tag, It suits you.

What you're actually doing is showing most of us your casual nba knowledge is getting the best of you.

How am I being an asshole? If anything people are getting pissy because I am not that impressed with the 60 points. And please explain with your hardcore NBA knowledge what I have said was wrong. You can't, can you?

1.) the argument was about prowess of scoring in a SINGLE SEASON. And in comparison to Kobe. You decided to move the goalposts because I assume it was an easier argument to discredit despite no one disagreeing with that notion. Thus you are arguing with yourself and straw men.

2.) if volume is your only metric to define the greatest scoring seasons then we have nothing left to discuss. Get back to me when you have more then a childs understanding of how to watch the game. It's a impressive record in its own right, but it is not the second greatest scoring season in history.

It's nice for him to go out like that... I mean 50 shots is totally ridiculous but that's Kobe for ya....

Lakers bandwagon will be depleted now

You're being a contrarian for the sake of being a contrarian and completely missing the point of why people found tonight's game entertaining. Nobody is arguing that Kobe had an amazing shooting night, or that he was efficient, or that he picked his shots. Sometimes people can just enjoy the narrative. This was an aging player on his last legs, playing on a garbage team who emptied his chamber and went out firing (which is exactly what most people wanted to see). That you thought it was contrived, or didn't find it entertaining, cool. More power to you. I don't care, and I'd wager most people that enjoyed the drama don't either. So, like, keep on making your arguments I guess?

Seriously man are you that sensitive about a basketball player that you gotta just keep making " lol ur dumb " comments?

I'm not the least bit sensitive, you just aren't worth much more effort than that.

Curry's scoring more ppg through his first 7 seasons than Kobe was through his first 8 seasons. And he's doing it more efficiently. I feel pretty confident at this point saying he's the better scorer.

And I wouldn't underrate how high this season vaulted Curry. Not top 10, but it's legit one of the best offensive seasons ever.

It's for you to do whatever you want to do, and it's for me to think that you doing that is stupid. Keep on keepin' on.

Hey man, if you keep quoting him, I have to keep reading his terrible posts that are on ignore. Stop feeding the troll, he obviously came into this thread to be a contrarian, not to discuss or learn.

Edit: Just saw that you called him out for being a contrarian after I posted this initially haha.

Loved all the different languages he was speaking in the media room.

Can you provide a link to the post-game interview? I can't find it.

Lol at not being impressed with 60 points.

He's gonna make so much money off endorsements it won't matter. Probably end up a billionaire like Jordan, or close enough anyways.

Kobe is great and all but I can't see his brand transcending sports in quite the same way Jordan has.

You are the only one with this position because you obviously have no idea what tonight was about.

No one at Staples showed up to see Kobe pass off to the toddlers. They came to see him shoot. Do you know why? BECAUSE IT WAS THE LAST TIME THEY WOULD SEE HIM PLAY.

No one walking out of Staples was disappointed tonight. They got exactly what they wanted: A Derek Jeter-esque performance in the final moments to cement a win in an otherwise meaningless game.

I got the same chills watching DJ in his final at bat as I did watching the final moments of this one.

But he didn't score 3000 points and lead his team to a 50-52 record lol.

Man as a non Basketball watcher I came to to this thread show my support to one of the all time greats only to see people trying their darndest to diminish his accomplishments...never change Gaf never change...

Lol at not being impressed with 60 points.

...at 37 years old. In his 20th season. On his final game of his career. For the 4th quarter comeback win.

Proud of my boy to go out like that. I was just hoping for 30 and to make the come fun to watch, this outcome blew my mind.

Lol at not being impressed with 60 points.

His brand is already huge and I would argue that he's close to Jordan in terms of popularity. Not saying people are going to be rocking Kobe 11s on their feet like people do Jordan's but he's well on his way to becoming even more wealthy post playing career.

I'll continue with the straw men as you continue with your ad hominem.

When did I say it's the second greatest scoring season in history?

NO KIDDING I ALREADY DISCUSSED THAT IN ANOTHER POST
I have given you plenty but you convienently ignore them all for...reasons.
A. That post was directed to somebody else, not you.
b. I haven't ignored anything as far as I know. I have a shitload of replies, but even if I did i can't help if I miss something. I have a lot to reply to

Arguing efficiency on Kobe's last game kind of misses the point doesn't it? Going out shooting a million times and scoring 60 points is arguably the most Kobe thing he could've done.

His brand is already huge and I would argue that he's close to Jordan in terms of popularity. Not saying people are going to be rocking Kobe 11s on their feet like people do Jordan's but he's well on his way to becoming even more wealthy post playing career.

Wealthier than Jordan or just wealthier than he is now? I'm not trying to knock Kobe, I just can't see any athlete making a brand like Jordan has.

I could've sworn you put Curry in your top 10.
