Tonight's Best and Worst Superbowl Commercials

The Budweiser "we make beer for people who don't give a shit about their beer" commercial was the worst. Way to boast about how shitty your product is and expose how big of a threat the popularity of craft beer is to companies like Anheuser Busch (ah, who am I kidding, they'll just keep buying craft breweries).

Best: Like a Girl, really the only one that stood out to me
Worst: Nationwide for obvious reasons and the Jeep "This Land is Your Land" commercial for grossly misusing a great song to sell SUVs

The one where the dad was absent for his son's entire life but picks him up from school one day in a shiny new car from Nissan and makes everything alright was pretty awful too.

Fuck everything.

We were all talking shit about that Nationwide commercial all night at the Superbowl party I went to. What an awful ad. It worked obviously because we're here talking about it, but why the hell would you choose to air that? it's the superbowl, everyone is happy and the commercials are historically funny. Not cool

Clash of Clans was probably best if not at the top

The Mountain Dew commercial that aired after the game gets an honorable mention for me though, that was funny.

It's telling how shitty the sport is, when there are 20 threads about its commercials, but only a single one about the game itself. lol

Am I the only one who didn't find the Nationwide commercial distasteful? Sure, it was definitely depressing and unexpected, but they're bringing awareness to a GIANT event, which is good.

There's an OT up for the game.

The commercials are almost as big of a draw as the game in most cases. Been like that for years. It has nothing do with the sport, good try though.

How about the Pierce Brosnan Kia commercial? I liked that one.

Honestly I just thought that the commercials were too safe this year. I like a little entertainment/controversy in these commercials. Ad agencies must be afraid that they might offend someone or group.

It's not so much the idea of the commercial as it is when and where the commercial was being aired. Airing it during the Super Bowl where ads are primarily happy and funny is just not appropriate. They were going for shock value clearly and it was in bad taste.

I dont understand how getting insurance saves your kid from dying.

Avocados was great. But why advertise avocados? Everyone loves them. Its like advertising toilet paper. Youll buy it anyway.

Car commercials all sucked predictably.

Liam commercial was good.

The Bud commercials which said "screw your craft beers" was a real WTF. Stick to puppies and horses bud.

The girls are good ad was ruined by the Always at the end. It just deflated the nice feeling.

Were all the ad agencies depressed this year?

Commercials were pretty bad this year. So much fake-ass sentimentality and celebrities selling bullshit.

I don't think that commercial would have lasted long even if it had aired on a less public stage than the Super Bowl. "Buy our insurance because DEAD CHILDREN" is a really disgusting premise for an ad, period.

I thought they all sucked.

Was there an Age of Ultron TV spot? I watched and waited for it, but didn't see it.

The last two years have been the worst commercials. Someone sent them a memo to get all sappy.

I don't have any in particular I really remember this year, but they at least had a few which were funny. I was far more focused on gameplay this year.

I think it was just poorly executed. Its starts of with innocent over the top kid fantasies and then just abruptly cuts into the kid saying wait no I can't I'm dead. If they went more in line with this ad https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvLaTupw-hk it would have had more of an impact.

Nationwide said they did the ad because of the exposure. It worked.

Also, the Snickers ad was good but sadly, I already saw it. Also, the Jeep ad felt misguided. The Dodge ad was more better handled.

Yeah, what was that shit ? They also ruined a great song in the process.

I can't stop seeing people talking about this NAtionwide ad and posting pics all over twitter / facebook. But I can't find the damn ad anywhere. Anyone have a link / can explain what happened in it?

Disney wasn't going to spend $4.5 million for a sure thing, they probably use that money for the rest of their Marvel studio marketing budget than a 30 second ad.
