Tony Blair might be returning to politics

I know one way for him to create space for the centre ground. Unfortunately for Blair it means spending the rest of his life in a cell in The Hague.

You are aware that Centre ground Labour voters, who switched from Labour to conservative at the last two elections, still rate Blair as the best leader in the last two decades?

Tony Blair lied to the British people to get them involved in a war they didn't want under false pretenses which directly led to the deaths of 200+ British soldiers and plausibly to the deaths of 50 others in the 11/7 bombings. Tony Blair should be in jail, not in politics, and it's disgusting to think that people would jump at the chance for this asshole to be back in charge just because Labour's current leader is ineffective and going to lose. If you lay with dogs, you get fleas.

And there was clearly provocation.

How? Literally nothing happened in Iraq in the run-up to the war. Hence manufactured BS about WMDs.

I think Blair was great until the Iraq war.

Guy was totally enthralled by money by the end of it. He was sucking up to bankers more than the Tories.

Also documents showed he lied over the Formula 1 donations scandal ("I'm a pretty straight kinda guy") and that was back in 1997.

Yeah it's the definition short sighted privilege. He fucked up the lives of countless brown people in some far away place but he sure sorted out crime rates over here! It's fair enough to acknowledged the good stuff he did and the left should be more willing to do that but to actually accept him back would be an insult to everyone who died because of iraq

Blair deserves a parliamentary inquest not a parliamentary seat. He lied to foment a war, costing thousands of British lives, millions of foreign lives and billions of pounds that could have saved this country from recession. He has the blood of others on his hands, and I am frankly ashamed of anyone who would take him back.

Spot on and most certainly not a "mad man" comment. As I said earlier really misplaced desperation on the behalf of Labour supporters. We have to do better to challenge the Tories than want to eat some totally rotten member berries around Blair.

Totally agree

I find it funny how Alistair Campbell (his PR rotweiller) objected to being compared to Goebbels given how he was the one shaping how the PR and media would work. He is smart enough to know the comparison isn't just to do with killing people.

Blair never had any sense of decency or common sense and dived into a decision based on ego. His constant lack of empathy and refusal to listen to people like Robin Cook (who resigned because he was a principled individual) just showed his pyschological failings. The appointment as Middle East peace envoy was a joke.

He took a purely selfish decision to go to war and yielded his power and position for personal gain. His ability as a communicator and success with the Labour party probably gave him a sense of immunity. It shows what a pathological liar and inherently broken he is because he feels he can rewrite history or people will forget his role in going to war.

I can't think of anything this country needs less than the return of that narcissistic cows-cunt. It's my fervent hope that at some point he straps on a couple of warp nacelles and takes a really really long flying fuck at the moon...

...and when he gets there he can just keep on going and take his war mongering little pathetic self out of the universe where decent people are trying to live.

Hasn't the loathsome prick done enough damage to the tribe?

Fuck off out of it Blair you're political poison.

Ugh.

Sure, you bring it up every few minutes.

The man's still a war criminal, and having him try to push his centre-ground ideas wouldn't get very far. Even Blair himself, in a rare display of lucidity, acknowledges that a return would lead to hostility. Though I'd categorise it less as hostility and more as outright loathing and hatred towards a man with the blood of hundreds of thousands on his hands. If he wants his ideas to flourish, it'd be best for him to stay the hell away from them.
