Too Human looks like ass (trailer)

That was a really bad trailer. I think Oblivion's combat would better fit into the Devil May Cry universe than what's going on here.

holy christ that was horrendous. I guess way back in the day when they said Eternal Darkness was using a form of the Too Human engine, they weren't lying. With ED, they could get away with sloppy combat, but when your entire game and hype is based around it, how can you release a video where the animation and collision looks that bad?

I didn't play it, but I saw it being played, and the animation totally ruins the feel of the game. And I'm also very dissapointed that SK turned this game into a total action game, it had so much more potential as an RPG.

I dunno what to say, maybe I'll see a newer version behind closed doors. Well, I hope I do.

There's a reason why Nintendo dropped both Rare and Silicon Knights and it's becoming more and more apparent.

These devs are resource/time hogs that just don't deliver the goods ... Rare used to, but that was almost 10 years ago now.

Agreed and it seems Microsoft bought them even without thinking twice before doing it.

But I'll wait for Too Human...

I think some of the reactions are a bit exaggerated here...what they showed didn't look that great, but there was only, what, about 15 seconds of gameplay footage? I'll wait until we hear some more hands-on impressions before completely condemning this thing.

SK has some great artists and the game looks beautiful. But it's crippled by, well, everything other than graphics :lol

I REALLY want this game to be something special, and I still have hope. But right now my hype for this game has taken a nose dive.

Thank god the Gears demo CliffyB showed off was badass.

seriously though....I still have a bad taste in my mouth from Enter the Matrix....another title where the devs went on and on about the extensive mocap being implemented.....

If the whole gameplay system is still being refined and its not ready to be shown, then why not just show another realtime cinematic trailer then reveals more of the story/characters? One thats longer and less of a teaser.
I think that would have been a smarter way to have brought attention to your product...and not in a negative way...

Like the recent Gears of War Trailer was a good example of setting up an omnious backstory, rendered realtime and not showing any gameplay. I thought it was well done...

I had been looking forward to Too Human since it was first shown on the 360. In every thread based on Too Human, I constantly defended the game and its potential. I also constantly mentioned that it would be one of the best 360 games of this year, along with AAA titles like Gears of War.

But after watching that trailer, it's time to turn in my coat. The cinematics look good, but the gameplay shots were terrible. The character looked extremely clunky as he tried to bend around and do ninja moves; that kind of character design has no business jumping around like someone from DMC or Ninja Gaiden.

The framerate looked bad, and as Sporsk pointed out, the hit detection was non existant.

This is what they've been working on for a decade? If MS was smart, they would delay this game into 2007. There's so much stuff that needs to be fixed that I don't see 2006 as a reasonable time to release this. To make matters worse, this is already planned as a trilogy. This makes as much sense as Advent Rising being planned as a massive trilogy. MS needs to keep the trilogies to Bungie.

I'm disappointed. I know Silicone Knights is talented, and this game still has a lot of promise. But the just thing to do would be to delay this far into 2007 and make changes. The main character doesn't need 200lbs of body armor on him, it simply doesn't look right considering they're aiming at DMC/Ninja Gaiden-type gameplay. I can't belive this.

If MS is smart they should cut their loses now instead of throwing 80 mil at the trilogy, Dyack might rip off mythology and talk it up to the heavens but we're talking about a 3D action game there, which Dyack doesn't really have much experience making at all, and the competition is FIERCE. I'm sure their MTV market is going to help but just about what they've shown to the public indicates that they have no clue as far as the actual game mechanics is concerned.

The trailer was terrible, and the collision detection and framerate were piss too. But a dreamcast game? Come on. The models, environments, textures, lighting etc. all looked good

I read the EGM exclusive on this game and felt completely left out. I was like "This isn't really all they're cracking up to be.....those screens aren't that amazing...." It might be a decent game if it wasn't so hyped, but I feel a Killzone type failure going down here.

I didn't agree all the hate, but I watched the G4TV video with Dyack and it looked god awful. These awful pauses and stutters, then the character dashing across the screen and missing enemies yet still them flying or going down.

It looks really cheap, and totally wrong. WTF seriously :(

No doubt. It looks like a low budget pretender of a game at this point. It looks hot as hell in screens tho.

The showing on G4 did look terrible (animation). However, i would put this game in the back of your mind and wait to pass judgement when it's much closer to release. It's easy to tell when you listen to Dyack speak, or write about Too Human in his blog, that this game is his baby. SK has talent, i think they'll pull this game off in the end.

Horrible camera, horrible trails, horrible animation, horrible framerate. I watched my director played it, and he didn't have a good word for the combat and controls either. No way should this have been on the floor. Embarrasing.
