why would a c- be a 6? It would occupy the lower half of the A-F scale (assuming C is right in the middle).
Because only the most twisted grading system in the world would give adequate passing marks to ~40% material. C- should be ~70.

Think Denis is shocked at the reviews?...

Finally, how do you think Too Human will be received?
Well, if the demo is any indication, pretty positively. It's very different. How do you judge... when you do something new, it's pretty hard to judge how it's going to be received. It's going to be received as something that's never been done before. That's my opinion. I don't know. The demo has been downloaded a lot and it's a game I like to play, and I think gamers like to play it as well.

I'd hate to be in the same bar as Denis today...

It was meant to be an abstration of the game's rating based on school grades, not a simple renaming of the 5 star scale.

If there's one thing I'm surprised about this game, is that everyone seems to be harping about its story and dialogues. I was expecting SK to get that right more than anything else.

No, me Chris and a couple other fine fellas review games for the A.V. Club. We're the guys you hate.
Using my massive powers of deduction I conclude you're the guy who reviewed Uncharted there / gave it it's lowest score on Gamerankings. After Kittonwy recovers of being drunk with power from this victory against DD, I think you are the next logical target.

Why does he keep saying he has done something entirely new... Isn't that a kind of Diablo like ?

It's not like he's doing Ico, or Vib Ribbon, or Rythm Tengoku.

Why are the devs who say "My game gets bad review because it's very very different so people don't get it" never in a position to say that ? >:(

Let's see, just using Gamespot as an example...

Too Human - 5.5
DMC4 - 8.0
Saint's Row - 8.3
Eternal Sonata - 8.5
KUF - 6.0
Army of Two - 6.5
There's nothing particularly differentiating about any of those games, yet theres a 25 point spread in the scores. Thus Too Human could have safely scored a 3.5 and still been a great game.

Yup I figure it's like a school scale.

A- 90-100
B- 80-89
C- 70-79
F- 0-69

You see in my high school school, there was no D!

did they ever say that?

To be fair, ars only has three ratings: buy, rent or skip.

So, buy is only a 3 out of 10.

wat

So, Metacritic or GR will equate that into a 3/10 of for there best rating, I see. :lol

The write up itself is fairly decent.

Its hilarious to me how the OP made the thread and seemingly has no interest in keeping it updated with the latest reviews....
The OP was just pleased to dig into 360 fans - he got his/her satisfaction and ran...

...that's odd.... my BUT HURTS MUCH!?!?
:lol

Yeah, but the issue comes in when Metacritic converts the grades. I think 1UP's main purpose in switching to letter grades was to get people to start reading the reviews rather than gazing at the numbered score, but I don't think it's that effective, and it doesn't really do anything but simply screw with sites like Metacritic (inadvertently, no doubt).

Gamerankings converts Too Human's C- to 60/100, which seems a lot more accurate than Metacritic's 42/100.

There are some positive ones, but in general they’re negative, and people need to understand that, because there’s a very vocal minority that is generally negative and you’ve just got to let that stuff go.

He says himself that it's a "very vocal minority", so I'm not sure why he's painting the entire forum with the same brush.

Uhh he's saying Neogaf as a forum that was picking on Too Human was the worst. Which it was from what I remember...
Perhaps if he HAD said that clearly and given credit to the 'vocal minority' that had given credible criticism he might not be such a venom-magnet right now....

NeoGAF is considered to be the worst, and I would say is probably the worst forum. And so, you might as well pick the worst one. Why not? So, that was the idea of that. Forums in general… The US military has really stopped using text because it resulted in too many instances of insubordination, so forums in general are just negative. There are some positive ones, but in general they’re negative, and people need to understand that, because there’s a very vocal minority that is generally negative and you’ve just got to let that stuff go. That was the reason why. Beyond that I don’t know that it even matters. I’m really done with that. I really wanted to make a point and move on. I know it certainly generated a lot of focus – more than I expected, actually; it got picked up on every news site within an hour – but that really shows the effects of these technologies on the mainstream media, and we have to think about those things and if it’s affecting things we can’t just brush it under the carpet and say it has no effect. It’s having some effect. It’s having some effect and I just want people to think about it.

What the fuck Dyack...what the fuck..

this thread was created to discuss the reviews. I had no intention of making the OP a list of reviews and never said I would. just click onto metacritic if it bothers you so much.

The OP was just pleased to dig into 360 fans - he got his/her satisfaction and ran...

yeah, it must be because i hate Bill Gates and "M$". butthurt much?

I'm a really big fan of Silicon Knights and their game Eternal Darkness. I really planned on picking up Too Human. However, Denis Dyack have lost all respect from me.

I must apologize to everyone else at Silicon Knights who reads this post. I have nothing against the company or the game. It's just that Dyack really is making a fool of himself and it's really sad to see him not realize it.

He keeps making up excuses. Why can't he just be honest for once? Or is he really delusional to the point that he really believes in what he's saying? Even though it sounds dumb as hell.

So to all of the people at SK who worked on Too Human. I apologize for not being able to enjoy your years of hard work.

that wouldn't really jive with their "we use the whole scale" mantra from before the letter grade change.

I just wanted to pop into this thread quickly and say that I actually like HAZE. I don't own it but I have played it a few times and enjoyed it.

Yes I am a huge TimeSplitter fan and I love Free Radical and I am aware it's far away from being perfect but I enjoyed it none the less.

*adjusts tie*

...well, see ya.

good going Dyack, just kick your fans in the official thread in the balls. He didn't mention that NeoGAF has a safe-haven for Too Human fans.
