Too Human Short Preview (Matt@IGN) - OMG Screen included

My doubts are slowly fading away as this game looks better and better. If this preview is quite positive I'm moving this into my 'Probably AAA' category.

I'm looking forward to this game after reading about the rpg elements and online co-op. Epic pickups, 4 man co-op and diablo inspiration = win. He does mention "hunting and gathering" a lot, though. I hope it doesn't turn into that mmorpg feel where it's a chore to play sometimes or a platformer-esque collectathon.
 
The gfx isn't what intrigues me about the game it's the game's premise of right vs wrong, Norse myth, and nobility. You guys should read about the TH universe, it's very well done.

What have I missed?
I assume by now that rumors of SK switching engines have been debunked, but how are they achieving the AA with UE3? Hopefully it's a simple engine mod that other developers can implement as well.


I thought they stopped using UE3.0....

Come to think of it, maybe that's why DD doesn't want games previewed before they're done. :lol

It still looks disproportionately long to me, though the collar blocking part of her neck does add to the effect
 
Why do developers insist on releasing screenshots of people standing around?

"Hey! Let's just make these characters look like they're talking to each other. That'll be AWESOME! People will eat it up! AMIRITE?!"
 
if you took a direct feed, full res shot of one of those youtube movies, it would look almost as good as the newer shots.
Problems begin when this thing starts moving, so i wouldn't comment on the game looking better judging from more screens.
 
Who is Matt?

The same Matt that said that the Magik system of ED had like 100 spells?.

The same Matt that said SK introduced the First person shooting elements of the MGS series with Twin Snakes?.

The same Matt that constantly defends and hypes Too Human in every IGN post?.


I think ill wait for a more unbiased source before I get excited for this game again.

Whaaa? I hope you never take a field sobriety test even when you're sober. Apparently the reason so many get busted for DUI, is it's impossible to follow the pen left to right without moving your head. DUI tests rigged!
 
Looks awesome the protagonist or at least I think he is looks pretty solid, except for his hair cut. The 80's want their haircut back, but overall, yes looks awesome, too human, too awesome.

I think some games are really overdoing it. This and heavenly sword really come to mind. Everyone gets pissed if you say something bad about heavenly sword, but that game has such blurry backgrounds it's beyond DOF and this looks to be following. However, I do have high hopes for Too Human as I'm interested in the story and Silicon Knights pulls through alright usually.
 
I won a copy of this game at E3--well I won a giant laminated sheet from Mountain Dew that says I won this game. They better mail it to me when it comes out. Whenever that is.
 
the main problem I've seen so far is the enemies are too bland.... After seeing the creatures and well-designed life forms of mass effect, I can't get into fighting joe shmoe robot 100 times over. Im hoping what we see next month hopes to alleviate that. And, I hope the whole game isn't fighting in those dungeons. I have this odd feeling that if the environments are varied enough and the storyline is good, this will still end up being a day one buy fo me, simply because of my newfound interest in (action) rpgs. For SK's sake, I sure do hope the game comes out before mass effect...I see no other time frame on the release schedule where it could thrive.
 
These graphics are still mediocre. Sorry Dyack...but this seriously needs some more work. The characters look almost Everquest 2 quality. It has that plastic look. I wonder what 1up's response of this will be. Talk about it in tomorrows podcast plz!!

its just standard "nextgen" UT3 fair really.
sorry, but with all these games utilizing the same engine (and similiar artstyles) i'm getting more and more accustomed to these so-called next gen graphics....
 
Since some people don't seem impressed here are some older shots of the game, just as a reminder. Game looks very hot and promising imho, one of my most wanted titles.

Those screens look better but it still doesnt look that great to me. Looks like an arcade game done with UE3
