Top 20 User Voted Ideas so far on the Xbox Feedback Site

I'm surprised that "screenshot" is not a top request.
Maybe I've spent too much time on Gaf looking at 1 million Infamous Second Son screens.

Didn't they already confirm a screenshot feature was coming?

Not surprised to see people asking for BC. MS really should look into a BC dongle...if it's feasible.

Although a screenshot function sounds great (and I wouldn't mind having it), I wonder if it would be that useful in the end... I like the video capture function because it lets you keep a memory of funny moments in a game, but a screenshot wouldn't help for that since when you trigger it, the moment is probably over already.
Screenshots could be used to show how pretty the game can be, but in the end everybody would take similar images, that would also be available in game reviews anyway.
The only time I wished for a screenshot feature was in Soulcalibur on last gen, to be able to show off my customized characters.

I need to vote for 3D Blu-ray support and get it up that list, as it is pretty much the only reason I have my PS3 hooked up to my tv. I know Phil Spencer said in an interview with Engadget that he is surprised how many people are using the Blu-ray player, so hopefully it is on their list.

I saw someone mention doing something like street pass, that'd be great!

As for the top 20, it's easy to vote for these since they're at the top when you visit and the others are buried. It'll flesh out the longer the site is there.

Think it was cited as too expensive with the live host and all the details they had around it. I'm sure a tweaked version would go down just as well.
Its possible with all the azure infrastructure they have that this now wouldnt be as expensive to manage, either way it was fun but not something thats at all a priority

lol, if it was that easy they wouldve done it, its not just the SOC they would have to add in there....

It's a box with a disc drive and a hard drive and a power supply and an HDMI out and a gamepad with exactly the right number of buttons on it. How many more parts do you think it needs? You could add 360 compatibility to your Compaq with a PCI card.

You could add 360 compatibility to your Compaq with a PCI card.

So you'd need a PCI slot, which consoles don't have.
Having (most of) the raw components of a console is only part of the problem, you have to make everything communicate, with strong speed and bandwidth constraints, which is probably not an easy feat. Assuming they'd want to make a 360 "dongle" that you would plug into your One, you'd have to stream the data from the disc to the SOC and the video output from the SOC to the console output, all through USB. I'm not even sure it's technically possible.

What the heck are people thinking to "add backwards compatibility" for 360? They can't just change the hardware they are selling and add the 360 components.

Only BC that makes any sense is original Xbox games since they are both x86. Even this would take a lot of work though.

The streaming thing Sony is doing is not backwards compatibility if that is what people expect.

Couldn't they do it as a software emulation like the PS3 did or the OG Xbox on 360.

USB 3 is almost on par with PCIe 1, isn't it? Worst case scenario, the "dongle" would need its own video out, and second-generation Ones wouldn't need the dongle anyway. It's making one sort of Xbox play another sort of Xbox games, it's not putting a man on the moon.

"14. Add an Upcomming Game Calendar App - 1,735 Votes"

This one actually makes a lot of sense from a marketing standpoint.
That's my suggestion :)

Glad people are liking it. I think it would do a lot to help promote devs/games for the more casual people who might not be keeping tabs on every game release.

I don't think USB can be compared too directly to PCI, especially since it's a software protocol. Even if theoretical bandwidth is similar, I don't think it's an appropriate way to handle important and two-way data transfer.
Anyway, such a device would involve big costs in R&D and production, for a feature that few people would really use. In 2016, nobody would care about the old 360 games any more. So I'm not really surprised that developing a short-lived BC device isn't high on MS priorities (or Sony or whoever).

I'm quite sure this is not the first time Microsoft has used UserVoice for one of their many products.

While it does use the same format... the exact one, MS actually has more of chance of updating Xbox with a slew of requested features this year than Sony does of updating with one top requested feature this decade.

Okay maybe I exaggerated just a little, but damn Sony works soooooooooooooo slow. I'm surprised they made such a big deal about the YouTube app when it should have been there day one T_T

If anything I envy Xbox's software support, apps, media etc

The only reason we're discussing this in the first place is because apparently too many people are wasting their voting ectoplasm or whateverthefuck asking for it on Microsoft's feedback site.

You must be new? It's not only about games, it's about every product you buy here.

Well yes I know that. It's especially annoying for digital versions of games though. There's literally no reason why they can't be the same price across the globe other than to deliberately rip people off.

The price here should be around £43. Lot of games go cheaper than that in stores, digital price should match them at least.

Yet again a fuss over different prices in different parts of the world. I'll concede that if the physical product is cheaper than the digital one should be too, but that isn't always applicable because sometimes brick and mortar stores will sell an item (games included) at such a discount that they're actually LOSING money on it, in the hopes that drawing you into the store will induce other purchases on high-profit-margin items. If it's cheaper in store, buy it in a store. If it's more expensive in your country than a direct currency conversion, consider this:

1. Import duties

2. Different sovereign tax rates than in the states

3. Different minimum wages in different countries

Just a few reasons why simply converting $60 US to a foreign currency is not in any way an applicable comparison. There are lots and lots of other factors.

I'm not saying that games/consoles/etc aren't overpriced in SOME countries, but certainly not ALL countries.

What's the minimum wage there in your currency per hour? Take that and convert it to US $$. If it's more than like... $7.25 per hour, then you're making more, and thus your actual cost per game in hours-worked might be roughly the same or even less.

How is this so hard for people to understand? Even had an Aussie bring this up once to refute another fellow countryman of his complaining about high game prices. He was like 'man, we make so much more than them on average, why are you complaining?'. I don't know if it's true or not in their case, but just repeating what he said.

I agree that for physical products there are many factors to take into account and valid reasons for price differences.

That's not really the case with a digital store though and there's no real reason why digital products cannot be more evenly priced across the globe even if not exactly matched.

I can definitely get behind some of these. Also, I hope "kickstart these Rare franchises again" nearly being in the top 10 gets them to actually do something about it.

Spencer has confirmed that preordering and a screenshot function are in the works. Parity clause definitely needs to be higher up the list.

Reboot Banjo-Kazooie is being beaten by having a background image on the home screen?

Please.

Microsoft has been doing great things with Uservoice. They have one up for every major product and they are constantly sending stuff back to their teams. Their last update on windows phone knocked off at least one or two pages of suggestions on its Uservoice. They even put one up for Cortana and Xbox music and we are already seeing stuff from the Uservoice come in updates.

I concur with #19. Heck, I'm wavering on an Xbox One, and that would genuinely tip me over.

This one actually makes a lot of sense from a marketing standpoint.

Over on the Nintendo side, after the success of their E3 streaming, I'm wondering how effective a "Treehouse Weekly" could be. The same principle could perhaps apply to any platform - don't just *tell* us what's on the way, spend half an hour a week showing us.

I definitely upvoted the 1 vs. 100 suggestion.

I would have gone into a lot of suggestions about the achievements and snapping them to the side, but I just saw the video about how they are upgrading that app to be snappable and the options there, so I think that's covered.

On the calendar app -

Why wait for an MS published app? Anybody can make one and publish it across Win8, Win Phone, and Xbone. Think is a great idea for a little app that could make a little money.

Hell, sounds like a good opportunity for one of the existing game sites. They already track release dates by platform, so they have the data. Enrich that data a little more - game events, notable sales, maybe news - then feed the stream to the app.
