Top 25 Wii Games ever (per Game Revolution)

I said one of. Shadow Dragon takes the cake as king turdburger.

I dont know radiant dawn was def. Better than the gba games (def. Better than sacred stones and the broken fuuin no tsurugi, maybe fire emblem could be called equal) and the gc game.. I dont know bout the 3ds game since i deliberately did not get the japanese version.

Definitely not a bad list. If they made SS #2 and TP #4, it would be my top seven...I agree with what they said about Super Paper Mario entirely as well...very under appreciated gem with a fantastic sense of humor.

uh isn't the general consensus that NMH2 was an improved version of NMH1
Only by those who drank the haterade on the first game.

No More Heroes 2 is a soulless game that somehow got the reputation as the "superior mechanical game," even though this is not even remotely true.

  • The controls are worse in the second (lol Shinobu, lol broken knockdown against player, lol shitty final boss)
  • The world is a boring hub menu
  • Absolutely forgettable soundtrack
  • Enemies/bosses with no character whatsoever
  • Totally shitty final boss

No More Heroes 2 is, despite my love for its predecessor, a totally soulless and unworthy follow-up to the best experience on the Wii.

I also want to consider THIS the canon ending of the series.

I asked Suda about "No More Heroes 3-DS' when he was at pax, and he laughed and said "maybe in a very long time".
I want to see Suda's madness and No More Heroes on 3DS. My heart has been broken it hasn't/won't happen. :(

Decent list actually.

There are some I would add and some I would take away, but most of those deserve to be there.

Metroid Prime Trilogy really should have been on there in place of Prime 3 though.

Also no Epic Yarn makes me a sad panda.

It's a fantastic experience, but a kind of meh game. I loved it, but I can see how it's not for everyone.

Similar to silent hill btw.. I think the first sh game in a while that was not broken horribly gameplaywise and therefore could win gamers over through atmosphere

I have no lost love for NMH1 and it's many tedious bike sections, monotonous minigames, looser combat design, and it's many other rough edges.

But I do feel that by smoothing so much of it out in NMH2, they did away with a lot of that punk attitude that made the first one so memorable

All the extra games listed in this thread make me realize the Wii had well over 25 really good games.

Duh i have by far the most games on my wii

I dint even mentioned games like rei zero 2 remake, pandoras tower, inazuma strikers, chocobos dungeon(lovely game btw) and zangeki no reginleiv

Man. What a great console. When you actually look at the great games it had, I couldn't imagine not owning one even though I had to have a another console alongside it.

I'm surprised Wii Sports Resort isn't on the list. I put over 100 hours into that one.

Remove Mario Party 9, substitute Sonic Colors, swap Prime Trilogy for Prime 3, and you have a perfect list IMO.

As for which Zelda should be higher on the list, it's hard to call. Mainly personal preference: if you want Ocarina of Time 2, go with TP. If you want the most progressive 3D Zelda in terms of gameplay but a somewhat flawed overworld concept (Skyworld), go with Skyward Sword.

Edit: I'd substitute Wii Sports Resort for vanilla Wii Sports as well. The pack-in is merely the prototype for the real game, no matter how famous or influential the pack-in is.

Yeah, this list does really highlight how many great games the Wii had. Those who cannot touch a Wii remote for any reason miss out, but those who claim the Wii had no games don't have a leg to stand on.

There are a lot of conspiracy theories (that I don't think are too far off) that explain all of the odd, unconventional, oft-disliked things in the first NMH were intentionally done to both comment on the games industry as well as comment on Travis's life.

Some people get annoyed at the pretentiousness; others see genius in it.

Both crowds agree NMH1's soundtrack is amazing. :p

Why does no one ever list Rayman Origins as a top Wii game? Is it because they forget it's a Wii game? Or that it doesn't belong with the other best Wii games?

Okami has no place on that list. Not disputing the quality of the game (although I didn't find it that amazing outside of the setting/art style) but the Wii port was shoddy as hell.

Also it's missing Little King's Story, Monster Hunter Tri and Trauma Center: New blood. And I know that Wii Sport was a significant game but Resorts is vastly superior.

why is Twilight princess there? that's a GC port

might as well put in there metroid prime 1 and 2 and pikmin.

Pretty decent list. Here is my brief opinion on the key Wii games.

1. No More Heroes
It was punk rock on the Wii. Not for everybody, but for the people who got it, you got something that was off the wall and just awesome. Game was monotonous, but the were the boss fights glorious or what.

2. Smash Bros. Brawl
It was supposed to be better on paper but the wii was such a clusterf*ck system. One dude playing on a wii mote, one a gamecube controller, one a wiimote+nunchuk. It was just a mess.

3. The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
Even though the brief waggle control was tacked on and completely unnecessary, oh yeah and that village-fishing intro was atrocious. The game itself was wonderful. Amazing dungeons, some great music, and some pretty cool ideas. Loved it.

4. WarioWare Smooth Moves
Absolute wonderful game from Sakamoto and the boys. The multiplayer mode was absolutely a blast, and surprisingly accessible by core and non-core gamers.

5. Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2
Truly wonderful and breathtaking. The story bits were annoying, and both hubs paled in comparison to Super Mario 64 in overall feel. But the level design, music, and visuals were out of this world.

Unfortunately I didn't get to play Skyward Swords, Xenoblade, Sin and Punishment 2, nor Donkey Kong Country Returns. Outside of some amazing first party branded games, I just think the Wii was a terrible system. It just doesn't cut it for me. Everything from the horrible DRM and overpriced msrp related to virtual console. The horrible OS/GUI. My dislike of forced pointer controls. Online. You name it. I'm a Nintendo fan, but their decisions are baffling. There is a much better medium between evergreen and old enthusiasts.

Regardless it did ship first on Wii and was mostly bought on Wii.

While some hardcore fans view it as strictly a Cube game, it makes since to treat it as a Wii game.

Dear God, are there enough Nintendo games on this list? And almost all the third-party games are from Capcom.

Variety is the spice of life.

[edit] De Blob? Dead Space Extraction? GoldenEye? House of the Dead Overkill? Red Steel 2? Sonic Colors? C'mon, any of these are better than frickin' Wii Sports and Mario Party 9.

The Wii really was an under appreciated system. I love it. Yeah it was outdated in many regards and never got "AAA" third-party support but it had more then enough quality titles to justify buying one especially considering how cheap it got towards the end of its life. Honestly, people that complain that its library was too kiddie probably never gave it a fair chance. It has some of the most niche titles of this generation.

Gaming clearly went in a more social and more graphically-driven direction this generation (and probably last too), and that just didn't play to the Wii's or Nintendo's strength.

Tooth Paste is a memorable track.

i forgot a very crucial game... winning eleven playmaker (pro evolution soccer)

def the best soccer game this gen.

The list just confirms the Wii as my least favorite console I've ever owned.

why because the list is bad or because the games are bad?

i could see that some disagree with the list.. i would also like some modification and expand it to a top 50

but if you say all the games there are bad you are wrong sir (if you say they are just not your type of game i guess you must only play very specific games).

Xenoblade Chronicles was alot better than zelda skyward in my opinion!
also SMG2 is the best thing happened to the wii ! how they didnt announce 3 for the wii u yet

Wasn't a fan of Boom Blox at all. Not very polished, and not worth a full retail price. Interesting game, but I wasn't very into it.

You can use multiple Gamecube controllers.

Wrong No More Heroes. First game is brilliant and absolutely should be on any Best Of Wii list, second one is mean-spirited and weird. One of the most disappointing sequels of the generation for me. Not sure what was different, just a strange tonal change from the first.

Every time a list like this is released, I get sad because "Dragon Quest Swords" never gets any love. That was an amazing game, and when it came out, I felt it was the sword game that lived up to the promise of Red Steel, even if not in the way I expected. I wish a sequel had been developed. First-person, motion-based RPG was an awesome idea that needed more games to flesh out.

Skyward Sword should be above Twilight Princess, and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories not being there at all invalidates this list for me.

To be fair, a bulk of the good third party Wii games came from Capcom. List doesn't even have Tri or TvC.

You're right, that's true. Capcom had a solid presence on the Wii. I still think there should be more than two companies plus Muramasa represented on a top 25 list, though.

While the Wii version of the game is actually a PS2 port, it features motion control support that takes the paintbrush mechanics to new levels of awesome.
Any time someone says something like that about Okami Wii I'm convinced they never played it.

Top Bottom
