Top-3 Changes That NEED to Happen in the Industry

3. Publishers stop treating the developers like wage slaves. They are your proffesional sports team starting lineups.

2. Gamers stop treating the games you buy as self-esteem injection devices. It's pixels and shooting fish in a barrel; have perspective.

1. Developers stop treating your playerbase as bratty morons. Bell Curve. Look into it.

1: Japanese Consumers Need to Embrace Digital Distribution on Consoles.

I really don't want every game to be Dark Souls.
Every game would be a Frankenstein monster, actually. Some horrible mix between Mario Galaxy, Dark Souls, and Resident Evil 4.

Edit: Also, open world

Edit 2: And made by Platinum Games

I'd agree, except that Japanese publishers useually set the price of digitally distributed titles as equale to or more expensive than physically distributed titles.

The idea is supposed to be, that going digital allows publishers to sell games for slightly less, while making more per unit sold. You know, no middle men, no need to ship, no need to buy warehouse space, etc.

In America, on console space, we can at least expect the occasional sale, and for self published Indie titles to be reasonably priced. If digital cost more, we'd probably never buy digital.

So I guess I should have specified that Japanese publishers need to adopt a more sensible digital model, since that would have been a more accurate way to phrase it.

Also, unless Sony is doing this already, they should push for self publishing in Japan as well. That country desperately needs a more robust Indie scene.
