Who gives a fuck what they think or want?
Pretty much. I loved Top Gear but the last few seasons just gave me one long drawn-out sense of déjà-vu. There was no spontaneity anymore, everything felt scripted and each of the three guys just played out their role.
Time for some new blood I say ! As long as they keep the same tone of humour and high level of production values it's bound to be good.

The type of casting I was expecting was a Woman, a Racing drivier and Some random comedian from the BBC talent pool so I guess I was spot on.
Was hoping the Beeb would break away from the 3 person format though. Do more or less. Just not 3.
A shitty more PC reskin of the Top Gear people like is not the way to go. Needs to be a clean break.
Kidd is a decent pick for the women slot though

People here saying they'll cringe watching the new line up? Clarkson et al are the most cringeworthy people on TV, poor actors and an even worse script.
The whole format has needed a refresh since 2009/10. I'll be tuning in again and I know a lot of other people who will now that dinosaur Clarkson has gone.

Really not excited about a new Top Gear as like others have said it was because of Hammond, May and Clarkson that many watched it. It wasn't really a car show it was an entertainment show that just happened to have cars in it. If I wanted to watch a car show I would watch Fifth Gear.
I am however excited about the possibility of Clarkson, Hammond and May doing a new show and whatever the format even if it was just a travel show of them going to different places around the world it would still most likely be more entertaining than what it looks like the BBC are trying to do with the relaunch of Top Gear.

It wasn't a car show in the end, it was a entertainment show with cars in it, if you want to watch a car consumer show with tips on cars & advice on what car to buy then watch 5th Gear because nobody else does, nobody is going to buy a car because someone on the tv says it's good.
people watched Top Gear because they liked to see a couple of blokes racing about in supercars with their hair on fire, it was a guy show but it was about bringing out the ten year old in us (males), nobody had/has a poster of a Fiat Panda on their bedroom wall they had one of these:

Phil & Guy are more into the older classic type of cars, if i want that & i do sometimes, i will watch Jay Leno's Garage because that is as good as classic car programs gets, i have seen some of Guy's programs but that are more like the programs that James May has done when not on Top Gear & i have seen the Phil classic car show & he is just a presenter on it, furthermore Wheeler Dealers is a much better show.
Of course people are going to hate it no matter what & the thing is it will never be as popular, i think it would have been better to drop the Top Gear name all together.
If the BBC wants to do this, they might as well just create an entirely new car show. Continuing on with the Top Gear brand like this is a good way to destroy its value. If they were smart, they'd at least explore the possibility of entering in with some sort of agreement with Wilman/Clarkson to let them continue on with the brand all the while with the BBC receiving a cut.

I honestly don't like that guy at all. He's a good driver but thats all he brings to a show like Fifth Gear. He's boring, not at all funny even when he is trying to be and his voice is just all round irritating.

So this will be like The Screensavers after they kicked Laporte out and changed it to Attack of the Show. This will be lame, but maybe it will be all cool and edgy and introduce car culture to teens.

Yeah, that's true. It might be a bit of a stretch to compare this to Attack of the Show, but it is different.... and I don't like different.The choice of hosts doesn't make it seem like they're targeting teens

I will definitely watch the first episode, that's for sure. Maybe it will be well made, but boring, like the American version, or maybe it will be shit, in which case at least it wasn't boring. The chemistry of the hosts makes or breaks the show.

A Top Gear about cars...just name it Sixth Gear. The show was always about the guys for me.
I think Top Gear is a good enough name for a show about cars, a show about 3 middle-aged men should be called something else
unless they're going through a crisis and getting bang on the mandy
