The audience slowly disperses throughout the episode. No one is left at the end. Stig leaves, locks the doors, gets in a lambo, speeds to the other side of the airfield, gets out a remote control and blows up the studio

I'm now going to be disappointed when this doesn't happen.

Then you have Clarkson, May, and Hammond jump the airplane with a monster truck with the plane exploding.

The show will be back in one way or another, just not on the BBC.

Clarkson just needs to avoid jabbing people in the mush for the rest of his life.

Now we'll never have the Ferrari/Porsche/Mclaren track times.

Been watching Top Gear since before it was modern Top Gear, so yeah, I think it will survive, but I don't think it'll be as popular.

Hammond seems to be the most reserved in joining in on all of this.

Whilst I'm sure he'll be a part of the new show (whatever that will be), I also wouldn't be surprised if he isn't.

As far as I know, all 3 had exclusivity contracts with the BBC (which had Hammond leave a couple of shows when he renewed his contract for Top Gear a number of years ago). I wonder if they'll negotiate for more lenient contracts or leave entirely if they are producing a successor on another network or just not participating in BBC Top Gear

Poor Hammond. I bet BBC is holding onto him like a confused child in a middle of a divorce. He lives and breathes BBC.

Seriously... I'm worried about his mental health now... He took the whole this a lot worse than I first expected.

Well from what we've heard he hasn't had the best year, but he's got family and friends so he'll be ok.

Oh James, you're so James. I remember seeing that thing with him outside his house and thinking: "Of course James May lives there, it makes perfect sense."

Great article. I loved this bit:

lol

The BBC had every right to sack him for that. Clarkson can only really blame himself. What I am aware of though, is that there were stories of there being a war between certain executives at the BBC and Clarkson. Danny Cohen being the one I have heard mentioned.

There are people at the BBC who might be quite happy to see him gone, put it that way.

I think if it hadn't been for all the other stuff (slope, n*****, etc.) they might have just fined him or something.
Also, he's been cycling for a while, he's mentioned it on the show previously.

Also, the accusations of the BBC covering up for a pedophile for 50 years, just because the pedophile was famous, probably tied their hands with regards to special treatment for their biggest personalities. In all honesty I think if they could've kept Clarkson without massive public backlash they would have, which makes Rupert Murdoc complaining about the BBC dropping Clarkson all the more infuriating, because he would've complained twice as hard if the BBC kept Clarkson.

I'm sure there are. Clarkson and the others had a lot of power. Whoever they replace them with will be firmly under the thumb of the BBC.

Well, I am guessing all of them will leave Top Gear, so they would need 3 presenters. I think the position of presenter on that show is a bit of a poisoned chalice to be honest.

It will be tough for whoever takes over. Bitterness from the old fans will mean they will have to try to win a whole new audience and probably under far more direct oversight by the BBC.

I hope whoever owns the track kicks them off so Jeremy and crew can use it for whatever new thing they do.

Yeah. It's a tough position to fill for a number of reasons.

Even if they are not kicked off the track, Clarkson and the crew could still probably use it. They would just have to choose a different period to film on it. Although it would probably make the track a little too busy. Mclaren also use the track because they're based in Surrey.

Anything new the trio do would need to be different from Top Gear in terms of format - otherwise you'd risk legal battles from the BBC. Using the same track and things like that would just be asking for it.

Plus, I'd quite like to see them come up with something a bit different and new. They're a smart bunch, they can do it.

The track is Lotus' track. So BBC can't do shit there.

And other motoring programs, such as Fifth Gear, exist. And often times they can present certain segments highly stylized like Top Gear does.

They could literally rebadge the show with different segment names, or even drop segments like the Reasonably Priced Car, and BBC would have no case.

I can also see them totally reformatting the show, and possibly agree to allow Jeremy and crew to do whatever they please in exchange for Jeremy's stake in the international arm of Top Gear.

I'm actually holding out hope they can just buy the top gear name from the BBC. BBC has to know the brand is pretty much dead without those three.

There's plenty of talent out there for BBC to hire who can carry the show on. Chris Harris being one of them.

Will it be as much of a riot as the three stooges? No. But it can still carry on. Most people watched TG because of the imagery, and there were the small few who were hardcore car enthusiasts such as myself.

If/when they get new people to carry on the show, I think they have to change the format completely. I can't see it going very well if they just get three new people, but still do all the same stuff. I think people will be more accepting of it if they try all new stuff, and not try to follow in the old shows shadow.

I just wonder how car focused it will be. I know the big appeal was that it wasn't super focused on cars, as that would drive away all the casual viewers who don't care about cars all that much.

Most people didn't watch top gear for the imagery. They watched the package of which there is less than half of it left.

The best thing the BBC can do with this show is to put it on a 2yr hiatus and come back with 3 new presenters that can at least have a chance of rebooting the show to their own strengths.

To try and comeback with a new series in the Autumn will be a lost cause.

Let people forget about the show and then pique their curiosity when tempers have cooled.

I have a funny feeling that Hammond is fairly pissed off with Clarkson.

I don't know why I think that...I mean, we've heard nothing from him. But that's my guess.

In reality, James May is the only one who is reacting EXACTLY as I guessed he would do in this scenario.

Hammond has gone into hiding and Clarkson's state of mind seems more and more worrying to me. But James May is just carrying on, being himself and filming silly videos of himself playing military tunes on a recorder.

Apparantly, Top Gear Live will continue with the trio. I wonder how that goes with BBC Worldwide organising.

weird. considering how big the backlash has been from fans I wonder if bbc will resign him but with some stipulations in place like he must complete sensitivity training and a portion of his yearly earnings go to charity over the next 3 year contract.

im sure none of them are thrilled that theyre no longer with top gear tv right now but I don't recall Hammond being outspoken about controversial things before. being quite seems like the safest thing to do at the moment.
