I just found out Ferrara is also a main cast member on Rescue Me...

I may have to check the show out now. My friends won't shut up about it.

Another great episode. Loved the tennis bit (they fixed his horn at one point and then broke it again) And the dude getting in Adams 'cab' in San Fran

I'm a huge Top Gear UK fan and after giving the US version a chance numerous times, I am slowly getting into it.

Personally, it's not as enjoyable as the UK version for me, but I am being entertained by it and that's what matters.

I decided I don't like Ferrara though. The other two guys are good.

Interesting. i think this US season is much better and more entertaining than the last two UK seasons. what's missing for you?

Wow, another spectacular episode last night. I'm really beginning to love Adam - he's just flat out crazy in some respects. The entire cast just jives. So happy the US version turned out so great, and I'm happy neither Jay Leno or Adam Corolla were a part of it - Corolla is pretty terrible on The Car Show, its only appeal is Dan Neil who is fantastic.

And man, it's so obvious that Tanner is the Stig. Hahaha.

Yeah, his character in Rescue Me is better than this version of Adam Ferrara. Not that he's bad in Top Gear. It's just that he's got better writing in Rescue Me ;)

Yeah, I hope Jay Leno is a guest at some point though. He did go on Top Gear UK. I'm not really a fan of Leno, but I do enjoy listening to him talk about cars. But you are right, I don't think the cast would work as well with him in it.

I haven't seen the latest episode yet, but I have to say that this season has been leaps and bounds better than the first one. I actually enjoy this quite a bit now.

Rutledge continues to separate himself from everyone else, the alligator barrier and Festiva tennis were hilarious. They are definitely having fun together and it shows. I love all the cheap car challenges they are doing.

Next week looks really good with Tanner seeing what he can and can't drift. More TG UK snobs need to watch this and learn to love it or like it for what it is.

Yeah, I agree. Glad Leno the bastard has nothing to do with this show, it would've sucked in retrospect (I did think he would've been awesome before the Conan fiasco).

This past episode wasn't as good as last weeks, but it still still quite entertaining and awesome. I dunno how well they can play out the "buy old cars" shtick though, but so far it's been successful!

As far as liking this better than the UK version and whatnot, let's just say they're different shows. There's practically no news on US, no long interview on US, no supercar of the week on US, so they're really different shows. I'm glad they both exist. :)

Which is precisely why I like it more. They don't waste any of our time. No one cars about two of those segments. And sometimes Top Gear's supercar segment was so hyperbolic and exaggerated it was hard to watch
WHUT A MACHINE!!! ad nauseum
.

I do think the US version could do with a bit more supercar highlights, but so far only two of the episodes haven't had them, I think - so I'm cool with that. Besides, chances are I'm sure they also don't want to repeat the same cars that Fifth Gear and Top Gear have aired. Certainly they know that a majority of their audience probably watches their international counterparts and doesn't want to see any redundancies. :)

45 vs 60 minutes.

Been watching this season and loving it but hadn't posted in here yet. The GT2RS segment was godly and absolutely in line with something you'd see on the original.

Rut in his alligator floaty suit..oh man, hysterical.

LOL I know. I was dying, especially when he was picking up bits and pieces of it.

how come this show has not timed laps for supercars on the track lately?

It did yesterday. But I would imagine it has something to do with manufacturers.

Great episode packed with lots of content. TG USA continues to suck less with every episode. :)

That LFA is aurally amazing and Tanner championing the "American" Olsbergs built Fiesta was funny. I need to download an Infineon rFactor mod ASAP.

was tanner the stig in this episode?
the stig had the same body type as tanner, while he was driving his fiesta.

British Top Gear should hang up its gloves. This episode has solidified that Americans just do shit better. What an episode. I absolutely loved every second of it.

He is The Stig all the time for the US show.

Btw, he most certainly piloted that Fiesta too, because contractually no body else is allowed to drive that rally car beside him.

Honestly, what difference would it make if he just took off the helmet. I'm not sure if the audience even gets the whole Stig "thing".

It's also kind of funny to see how much we all like this show, but how everyone in the Forza thread thinks it's rubbish.

I just watched the Top Gear UK episode where they set the indoor record to begin with. They set the record in a Formula 1 car, but before that run, they did it in a Chevrolet Lacetti. So for a short time, a rebadged Daewoo held the record.

Another Great episode! I talked a few guys at work into checking out an episode and they are hooked! History has a hit on there hands they just need to give it at least 3 seasons to cement itself in peoples minds.

I love the original but the American version is quickly growing on me hard.

How did he cut the time from 1:53 to 1:44, by jumping walls? :lol

Tanner has to be the Stig. For reasons already mentioned + It would be wierd to have a host be a better driver than The Stig.

Insurance. The person behind the helmet will quickly get dropped by his insurer or, at the very least, have his premiums skyrocket tremendously.

Nah, I doubt that very seriously. I think they just don't know what to do with the US Stig yet, and it's bad enough that Tanner is the top presenter, it might be unfair for him to race the cars overtly. It's not like it's not utterly obvious who the Stig is, though.

Hell on the Top Gear UK / US page they actually say it pretty much:

Next episode is 9/18:

Title:
Hollywood Cars

It is about:
Tanner, Rutledge and Adam create versions of their favorite Hollywood cars and then pit them against each other to see whose is best. Tanner and Rutledge race a horse and two Mustangs through the Utah desert.

Just finished watching the LFA episode which was great. I won't go as far as saying that the US show is better than the UK, but the amount of hate it gets is stupid. I was reading earlier comments from the Forza thread during the airing of the episode and I was surprised...well I shouldn't be too surprised since GAF hates most things.

The segments with the LFA were sweet and the indoor speed challenge was pretty cool. As you watch the show more the hosts grow on you as well. Didn't care much for Rut off the start of season 1, but I love him now.

I'm like a broken record but its true. Each episode is better than the last.

Wasn't impressed by the Forza 4 footage. Tanner's driving on the other hand - that was memorable.

I did not know Tanner was all that until this episode, and I don't buy the Stig being anyone else to drive his personal race car around that track

and that's cheating to have a race car on the boards

I really like the US version. I think they got used to each other and now its where the show really 'begins'. Things like adam mashing windows, tanner always calling adam old and rut cheating during challenges gives the show a good atmosphere. I just think content wise sometimes feels like it lacks compared to the UK version. I guess they gotta cut some things here and there to fit it all into the appropriate time length.
