I used the search, but couldn't find anything:

Cloning Clyde coming in at #19 is a travesty. That game is wonderful.

Edit: I noticed that four of the top ten are $10 games, the rest are $5. I was actually expecting more to be at the $5 mark, but I think it shows some price sentitivity, even at those low levels. Glad to see DOOM up there, too.

Lumines bombs... Probably because of its ******* overflow packs...

I'm surprised to see Pac-Man so high in the top...

Gears of War gets released at the end and it beats out COD2? top 360 game for virtually the entire year?
I'm curious where Halo 2 ranks, probably nr1...

edit: ah, it's based on 'unique users'...not 'usage', I guess...

Geometry Wars should be nr1, you can't get more value than that game.

I never would've thought it wasa good game until my friend showed me and it's much more then just an average live game.

I do wish we had a better sense of how the Live Arcade space has been for the developers and publishers. I like seeing the rankings, but without some kind of relative measure, not sure how to read them. Did the guys behind Cloning Clyde make a good return? How many people bought Uno, anyways?

Um, how is Oblivion an Xbox Live game?

every 360 game is live aware, so whenever they do the rankings, it essentially doesn't see a difference between single and multi-player when it comes to "most played".

I'd hardly call being in the middle of a pack of like 40 arcade games a "bomb".

Lumines Live was supposed to be one of the most anticipated game on the XBLA, so it's a kind of "bomb"... It has been surpassed by many other games that aren't as important as Lumines...

lumines is a great game but i think all the negative (unwarranted) publicity it got when released must have hindered its sales.

Remember, UU's is the number of Gamertags that have played a game. In the case of Arcade titles, that list is ranked by purchased games. That is why the Arcade titles may be ranked out of order on the top list. Some Arcade titles may be purchased by one Gamertag, but played by multiple Gamertags.

This is not a "most played" list in a "most hours played" sense... They count the number of unique gamertags that played the game and rank them that way.

The metric they use (UU) means nothing. It is no surprise that games that just come out can show up on top and be at the bottom or even not even on the list the next week. And then they divide this by the number of weeks so games that came out a few weeks ago can be really high even if they are not very popular.
Where did you read that? I thought it was just straight number of unique users that week.

Though, I don't think it's a usefull measure as such. I find the Live Arcade sales charts much more interesting, since it's actual sales rankings.

Actually, you could be right. Maybe they just count the total number logged in this year. I figured they were taking the numbers for the week and averaging them. That way Gears will still be on top even if it has only been out a few weeks because each of those weeks, it posted huge numbers. But since Rainbow is on the bottom and we know it has been posting big numbers the pasted three weeks, probably bigger than COD2 did all this summer, it does appear that they are just counting total loggins for the year.
