Sorry I meant the Ontario Science Centre, I am probably wrong as well.

Actually, that's kind of what I thought you meant, but still no, that's off the Don Valley just north of this picture:

Going to bed, stay safe gaf!

my friend is still stuck outside :S He was rescuing his mom (she ran out of gas) but he got stuck too

I'm just so fucking happy to get my power back.

But I'm not even exaggerating when I say the drive home was a horrifying experience. Couldn't see a thing. Couldn't see lights of cars ahead of me, couldn't see any lines couldn't see trafic lights, literally nothing. Completely blind driving. I almost died 70 times. But I don't care because it's how I dooz it.

LOL.

you zhould rescue your friend <3

Got power back on in north york area about 15 mins ago (and then it flicked off again for a split second).

What a mess. But hats off to people who fixed it. But I wonder about how cetralised the power distribution network is for toronto hydro...

Calgarian who is supposed to be training to Toronto from Montreal tomorrow. Have not heard much from the train company about any closures. See GO trains underwater isn't nice at all.

UPDATE: 22:28

WEATHER: Things seem to be settling down so now seems to be a good time to take stock of some rainfall numbers as of 10:30:

PEARSON: 123 mms
CITY: 91 mms
ISLAND: 84 mms
OSHAWA: 4 mms

Some perspective: During Hurricane Hazel, Toronto's Pearson Airport (or Malton as it was then) experienced 107 mms in the first 12 hours (it would eventually see 137 mms, according to Environment Canada).

Wettest. Day. Ever. Let's see what tomorrow brings...

I just took 401 east from Pickering upto DVP/404 and it was fine. This was around 11pm though. There were patches where the highway lights were out but no flooding on the highway.

Hmm. Well, I'm hoping things keep clear tomorrow in Scarborough.

Really just hoping everything goes back to normal downtown by Friday.

We just went through all of this in Calgary, and it sucked. Twitter was a huge help for staying up to date on the situation, but try to verify all info before posting it. Stay safe, and I hope this all passes quickly!

So I guess Montreal is next. We're probably due.

Bah! I'm sitting here in my office. :(

Subways are operating fine for the most part. Except for the one stretch of closures. Made it in on time. :/

yeah I caught my streetcar on time. Suppose to rain all day again today, hopefully nothing like yesterday ... I would rather not get stranded in the west end.

Forecast only says 10 mm tomorrow and a couple mm each day after that over here.

I checked in with my friend living in the Toronto burbs. they had lost power, of course, and he was checking new on his car radio, parked in the driveway. But they had lots of bottled water and dry food to eat.

I'm curious if he managed to make it in to work today.

No power from 6 pm last night till i left this morning. Etobicoke(Dundad/bloor). All lights are out in the area, some roads are closed etc. Thought it would be hell getting to work, but going up Dundas to the 427/401 was great, not much traffic at all.

I really caught up on my sleep. My friend tells me parts of Etobicoke were coming back up half an hour ago. Just hope this shit doesnt happen this weekend.. im gettin married. Maybe its a sign lol

My impression is that its pretty much life as usual today despite last nights calamity.

I swear it seems like the Eastern half of North America is getting abnormally large amounts of rain while the western half of the continent is just baking away in the heat.

I got really lucky. I live close to square one in mississauga and got no flooding, but some of my friends who live a few minutes away have flooded roads and basements

I live on the far west side of Toronto and I got really lucky, reached home around 6pm before it got too crazy. I was soaked but I was happy to have gotten home in time. Power went out around 7 until 12 am or so. My laptop provided me some entertainment until the battery died....then just played with my dog for a while.

Didn't realize things were this bad. I live just outside Toronto and although it was a bad thunderstorm it was nothing unusual.

Yes. Lakeshore was in various states of flooding.
That sucks. The event certainly brings in revenue for the city and IndyCar puts on a good show there each year. I hope everyone is ok and things clear up by the weekend. Sorry to hear so many are being affected by all the rain!

never seen so many people walking up yonge street.. lots of women just took their heels off and walked barefoot on the street.

Apparently you missed the whole flood thing going on in Alberta.. ;)
