The fucking cityscape is enough. Buildings suspended thousands of feet in the air that are all connected to the metropolis with hovercraft vehicles and holographic people and robots makes it feel 2100+. Who cares if there is a 90s chrysler.

In the Police takedown scene, If my AD saw camera movement like that in one of my scenes, he'd tell me to re-do the camera work all over again. Cool takedowns, Seems that they were trying so hard to make it as cool as the first scene of the matrix with Trinity.

I waited until now to watch this trailer and I find that it doesn't look too bad. Love the Future city scape and kate beckinsale is super hot as always.
This is coming from a guy who watched Fast 5 last night and found it one of the best films of 2011 though so I'm sure my ability to enjoy dumb films is higher than others.

If they are following the short story closely the protagonist won't ever really be in rekal.
Some of it looks moderately entertaining, some of it less than that. I don't like Kate Beckinsale (except Laurel Canyon, where she played a repressed sexpot). Between her own acting instincts and having her husband directing, just everything single moment she's on screen is supposed to be a sexy pinup freeze frame. She ceases to be an actual human being and becomes a Barbie doll. I don't really like Jessica Biel either.
I expect this will be something I rent in between watching more serious movies.

Back to the Future 2 basically did this. They purposefully made their vision of 2015 a cheesy 80s version of the future. And you're right about it flying over the heads of the audience. Most gaffers can't even tell it was a giant wink at the audience, and they end up complaining how dated it looks.

Looks promising. I'll always love the original movie for the over the top violence and cheeseball Arnold stuff, but the actual story is fairly interesting and looks like it could work well as a more serious movie.

I like how the surrounding cars react to the wind more than the passerby's coat. They probably should have dressed him in something that would be plausibly unaffected by the wind, but I also think he should have fell over.
I get the impression that they didn't really think the scene through prior to rendering the CG.

Da fuck? The CGI in that scene is pretty good. Shit with the exception of Farell's double in the Recall scene (which looks better than a lot of doubles) I'd say the FX is looking good here.

People are going to complain and nitpick about CG regardless of how good/bad it looks. You should just get used to it now
