TotalBiscuit's Top 10 Games of 2015

Mad Max...but no Rocket League, Witcher, Metal Gear or Batman?.

He's primarily a PC gamer and gave the Arkham Knight PC disaster the "Stop pre-ordering games" award in his arbitrary award list. I'd find it hard for him to put AK on a top 10 positive list

It's more the inclusion of Mad Max, than the exclusion of Batman.

Way better 3rd person action titles came out this year.

I'm sure it has to do with
1. Him being a fan of the franchise and
2. Not playing the other 3rd person titles

It was more due to how fun the car combat was for him more than anything.

A good list with some great games in it, wasn't surprised by most though after listening to his podcast on a regular basis.

In checking out his Soundcloud from jim's links noticed he posted an hour ago a full explanation of why he hasn't played The Witcher 3.

Boils down to conflict of interest with CDP sponsoring his gaming team, wanting to avoid lengthy games due to time and fatigue from his illness, and since so many nag and criticize him about it on a regular basis about it he's come to associate the game with negativity.

Goes on to clarify why Mad Max reached his top 10, past the issues he had with it. Basically re-iterating that it's a completely subjective list based on his personal enjoyment of the games even those that are far from perfect.

He literally has a category for a console game that needs to be ported to PC to be saved from it's console torment. This is not tongue in check or joke. The guy is a full on idiot who believes in the whole PC Master Race thing, not realising it is a joke.
What games couldn't benefit from the boost in performance a PC can provide? Even as a console gamer surely you can recognize that there is a more powerful alternative out there. I'd love a 60 fps 4K bloodborne!

More correctly, "TotalBiscuit's marketing team's top 10 games of 2015 designed to further propagate the PC Master race ideals and hence generate clicks and income for TotalBiscuit".

Sunless sea is a cool choice though.
Lol at TB having a marketing team. Most Youtubers run lean shops.

So his opinion is irrelevant. The "Light of GabeN award" fuck off you pathetic, elitist, arrogant cunt.

Honestly if someone doesn't game on all platforms, have access to games of all types then their opinion is irrelevant and they should not review or share their opinion on games.

Notice how he only complains about console exclusivity? The guy is a shill, who only cares because it directly affects him as a PC gamer. He literally could not give a fuck about consumers. Anyone with such a narrow minded and limit view deserves ridicule and scorn, not praise and adoration. Having multiple platforms that offer different experiences is healthy for the game industry and consumers. He is nothing more than a butt hurt port beggar.

All- people act of their own self interest, but not all the time. The idea that you make a correlation between having a preferences towards your own habits, taste and desires and "he literally could not give a fuck about consumers"
is not so much as a childish knee jerk reaction, but offensively ignorant.

Nobody who doesn't harm anyone deserves ridicule and scorn. Your opinion is not invalidated because you don't play on all platforms or process all of the massive content.
In fact, I would argue that people having different experiences and playing different types of games that they like yields in more interesting top 10 lists. There are two many lists already that repeat the same doctrine. Lots of great games get ignored or don't get mentioned enough because the big games who took all the media spotlight hogs all the action.
What you're doing is parading some zealous conformist passive-aggressive tirade. It's dumb and ignorant. The world is better with more variety and more varied experiences. Not vacuum spaces with everyone unanimously only wanting to talk about the witches and bloodborne.

Finally, if you've ever listened regular to TB you know he loves console games and he knows that he is seen by some ignorant fools as a console hater because he doesn't like shitty ports. He cares a lot about consumers, informing the public about marketing fuckery and bad ports. In fact I'll say he is one of the youtube content creators who care the most and I frankly find it admiring that even though he is really sick he still makes videos regularly. To say that he doesn't care. Ignorant crap. He likes consoles, he grew up with console games, it's just that his preferences are often on PC and a lot of his content is aimed at indie titles that bigger sites don't cover. It's relevant to his interest.

The idea that this makes him a pathetic arrogant elitist cunt, frankly says more about you than him.

To be fair, he's been extremely up front and completely transparent about what content he produces and what will give him the most views. He has said on his youtube videos why he killed something and why he has doubled down on others. He's also leading the charge on stating outright when a video he posts is sponsored content.

And while he doesn't say that he has a marketing team, he does say that he has people working behind the scenes. Definitely lean to be sure, but he does have a team of people helping him out as far as I know.

I miss his regular VLOGs

TB threads really attract the most insecure, pathetic fanboys on GAF, who bitch and moan because the mean Youtube man didn't hold the exact same opinions as them.

Even divorced from that context, Batman hasn't been appearing on many industry lists (and if it has, it's been far down on the list).

If my memory serves me well, the response when discussing it on the podcast was rather lukewarm (although I don't remember how much of it was Jesse and how much TB, since I think Jesse might have been the most vocal about it).

People really are weird.
Its not surprising a busy man that is battling with cancer picked more focused/unique games (Once in a life time experiences like Undertale) and ones that have a more focus of playing with friends then something like Witcher3/ Fallout4/ MGS5, that you have to dump large hours of your time. He enjoyed different games then most popular opinions and people act like he personally kicked their dog for fun.

a shill for who exactly?

the sodium levels in your posts are off the charts

If there's one I absolutely must recommend, it's Sunless Sea. The guys at Failbetter are masters of prose, and bring the dank depths to inky black Lovecraftian/Gothic life with their wonderful writing. The journeys are grueling atmospheric adventures, as you set on voyages into the unknown waters where otherworldly beings and mind-rending horrors lurk.

it's not on Ps4 :\

They're considering it, but it's not the kind of game that would work well on a TV. There's a lot of reading. There's a good chance of it coming to iPad though
"I feel our games are natural fits for mobile, natural fits for tablets, natural fits for PC, but there's always been this big question mark over - would someone want to sit there and read in the living room on a console?" he said.

"I don't think people sit in front of a console and go, 'I expect to shoot things in the face'. I think people are now, 'I don't know what this is going to be like' - I think [with] games like Journey, people say, 'I'm willing to give this a go'.

That's not too surprising, and I say this as someone who still really liked the game. A lot of people got burnt badly by the forced Batmobile segments and the terrible DLC support afterwards.

Hey TB, if you're reading this I just want you to know that I respect your opinion and that you're an alright dude. Also apparently I need to play Undertale

Same, you're my boy TB. Your videos are useful as hell and I check them out before buying a game to see if the port is good if they're timely enough.

Keep doing what you're doing.

You can play Sunless Sea on pretty much most laptops or desktops. Same goes for Undertale, Lovers In A Dangerous Spacetime, or Renowned Explorers.

hm...i don't like playing video games on computers but maybe i can try it out on a macbook.

I'm enjoying Mad Max more than I thought I would. Superficially it's just like a bunch of terrible Ubisoft-style open world games, but it is filled with small design choices that make it a better game than any Far Cry or Assassin's Creed. The same thing happened this year with Dontnod putting out a better Telltale game than Telltale ever will.

So back in the day when I used to play WoW and raid I would listen to Totalbiscuits podcast on WoW and he knew absolutely nothing about it but still he had a podcast about WoW. Does he actually play the games he talks about these days or know anything about them?

I hear he made a video about all his picks. It's probably linked in this thread's OP. You should try clicking it.

Thank you for this post. As someone who has been subscribed to TB since his video about the addition of microtransactions to TF2 back in 2010, it really frustrates me to so frequently see people who know so little about him make these posts with such vitriol.

He's far from perfect, but the same can be said for everyone else on the planet, and he's been continuing to make videos to inform consumers about the quality of new releases and rising business practices while battling cancer for the better part of the past two years. It's fine to not like him or to not enjoy his content, but to say he is a shill (the polar opposite of what he is) and that he doesn't care for consumers is ridiculous and displays a level of ignorance that, as you say, says more about the person spewing such false information than it does about TB.

To follow in line with what the other folks in this thread are doing:

TB, if you're reading this, I just want you to know that I recognize and appreciate your efforts to help consumers make the right choices in the years since your channel was created. Since I subscribed to you in 2010, you have helped myself and my friends stay informed on the latest releases and their quality both as a game and as a PC port. You are one of the few honest YT content creators remaining on the site and I'll keep watching your videos as long as you keep making them.

There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with wanting a console game to be on PC.

Nothing at all.

I fucking WISH Destiny was on PC.
60 fps, faster load times, much quicker and easier to patch for Bungie.

We're not even gonna talk about if it was a PC exclusive and then could have, you know, actual expansive worlds and more enemies and players in one area at the same time, etc...

Geez,I really wonder why anyone would want a console game on a PC...

Really? The PC can move the goalposts every 3 months when they come out with their new cards and chips. Any sort of deficiencies that the consoles have can be brute forced by the current PC cards.

If anything, TB is fair and he will absolutely lavish love on a proper port. Take a look at his WTF of Dust: An Elysian Tail. He is almost begging people at the end to support the title.

I agree it has the most diversity but doesn't NVIDIA basically hold the graphics card industry by the balls? I mean a GTX 980 600/650 bucks? You don't think if AMD had their shit together a little bit better that card (which most agree is a good card for high-end PC's) would be a little bit cheaper...Not that any of this graphics card talk has anything to do with TB or this thread or with that one gaffer posted, I'm just asking a question.

Well, my last 2 major PC graphics cards have been AMD. My gaming laptop uses Nvidia. So while market share may say one thing the platform allows for choice. I just like good cards and both have them. Also amd and intel gpu's baked into to cpu's have gotten better especially if you like indie games and/or game on a Mac.

As for his list, I think it's ok. Another tip of the hat for Undertale. I am pretty curious about it.
