What an eye sore. I thought there was a height limit on buildings in Athens.
I guess this is what its going to look like when done.

As someone who lives in suburbs around Athens i say stay away unless you absolutely need to see whatever ancient site is in there.Been a long time since I last visited Athens.
Has it come up much in the past decade?
It wasn't too great for tourism when I was there. (everything seemed very old and under-maintained).

It's ugly, filthy and chaotic. It's way worse than 10 years ago.

To be honest, if I was rich I would grab one apartment there. What an eye sore. I thought there was a height limit on buildings in Athens.

I feel this way about London. Loved it in the 80's and 90's, you couldn't pay me enough to spend time there now.
I visit London a fair bit. And it's pretty surreal to contrast the way some talk about it online compared to the experience of being in it and the people I know who live there say the same.Nah London is fine.
Actually pretty great for tourists.
Probably he'll for most normal people to live there these days.
If you're middle class it's great but getting harder.

Just to be clear, I was agreeing with you. By "some talk about it online" I meant the "London has fallen" types who talk about it like it's some lawless wasteland. It doesn't really line up with the actual experience of being there. But social media discourse will always lean towards sensationalism.Nah.
I've lived here for 20+ years. London is great.

probably the same real estate tax shell game they are playing in NYC and other big cities. To be honest, if I was rich I would grab one apartment there.
I read they are sold out. Up to 30.000 per square meter!!!
It literally posted its lowest homicide rate in recorded history, but you wouldn't know it if you just consumed social media.I visit London a fair bit.
