Tower of Terror Checking Out Today @ California Adventure

Something from a millenial's childhood changed

I've been kinda salty since I heard they were giving it a make over...this hit way to close to the truth hahaha

However, I would say I do think the new concept art for the GotG version looks awful. Ready to be proven wrong with reality but bleh. Original just had a great atmosphere to it that fit really well (as someone who never saw the original at World)

The construction scrims are coming down and the Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission BREAKOUT! rethemeing work is now almost full exposed! Here it is in all its "glory."

It's ironic that it's only now that The Tower of Terror is truly living up to its name,

to be fair, they can't really do much about the building other than giving it a cosmetic face lift. The top floors houses all the machinery that power the elevator ride.

I think it's weird they chose to shut this one down instead of the one in WDW. IIRC, the one in Orlando was the first one built and had a much more complicated design than the later versions.

looks like garbage, marvel sucks, i hope they tear this down and replace it with an imax version of the flick the bug 3d movie from bugs land, would be better than this.

Wait, INSTEAD of the one in Orlando? That's the best version! That would make even less sense than what they're doing here.

As for them not being able to do much about the building shape: true! Hence why the entire thing is so incredibly misguided

Bleh yeah not that great looking, but whatever.

Well they can't do Marvel stuff in WDW, so they are doing Marvel stuff in DL.

If it's supposed to look like the Cinematic Universe Collector's Museum...paint it a dark brown, add some giant panels to give it a "reinforced" look, add random lights, throw in a window with the shadow of an alien walking by, maybe add some of his collection to the outside. Would look far better than random pipes.

Huh really? Guess it wouldn't be surprising.

But noooooooo on replacing Universe of Energy.D:

The ride's pretty old and dated, so I'm okay with it being replaced--but not with GotG, so I'm hoping the rumor is wrong. I have no idea how they could have a ride with them in Epcot while keeping the educational angle

They turned the ride about Norwegian culture into a Frozen ride.

yikes that thing looks ugly as sin lol

once they turn that part of the park into Marvel land, it will be right at home.

Does it really matter how the dumb thing looks?

It's a THEME park. You're god damn right it matters. This is what sets Disney parks apart from the rest! Or used to, at least--starting to have my doubts now

Edit: This is how Tower of Terror looks in Disney World. They built an entire street for the ride. It whisks you away to a different time and place. Whatever that atrocity is above does none of those things and clashes with everything around it

Except we'll then have another land that has nothing to do with California (hell, don't most Marvel movies take place in New York?) They've lost the plot with DCA

Does anybody really care about the California theme though? I'd much rather them open it up to more unique themes. Now I'm not saying GOTG is that idea, but I don't see a point in them keeping it "CA themed"

So is it just going to be 30 floors of Chris Pratt holograms doing the David S Pumpkins gag from SNL?

That'd be amazing. I hope they do this for Halloween.

The plot is supposed to be that this is The Collector's house and Rocket Raccoon broke out and now he's trying to break the others out as well, so that's gonna factor into the drop mechanic that's still intact inside the tower.

anything to get that bugs life area changed up, I'll accept it. Maybe turn it into Iron Man land, that all takes place in cali.

They just got done a few years ago retheming several parts of park to be even more Californian--and people loved it. The new Buena Vista St. entrance is gorgeous.

But now they're regressing on that theme with this, undoing the work Imagineers worked so hard to repair.

The one in DW still looks exactly like that.

(part of it, anyway. This is at the end of the Hollywood section)

The rethemed tower is a fucking abomination. The previous tower loomed in the distance and oozed with atmosphere. This looks like something my nephew would draw on a napkin. Way to fuck over the best ride in CA.

The tower looks stupid. I did really enjoy California Adventure when I was there in 2013. It was a quirky park. I did enjoy the CALIFORNIA THEME...There was a resteraunt that was supposed to mimic the theater where Snow White opened or some such....The food was EXCELLENT.

The Tower of Terror was my favourite ride at California Adventure. I loved the Twilight Zone feel. Such a shame they are changing it to GotG.

Carthay Circle Theatre. That place is rad. Next time you go, get the drink with the spherical ice cubes so you can seem them being made--it's awesome.

...and now it's going to have this stupid ugly tower looming behind it

Thankfully the one in Disneyland Paris is still active

The only "good" thing to come out of this is that every park now has its own unique version of Tower of Terror

Carthay Circle? Yeah that place looks really nice. I think this picture is during Christmas so it's extra bright but you can see Tower of Terror peaking out in the distance on the left side

Yikes. It might look a little better once they're done, but goddamn.

I'm sorry west coast Disney-GAF, but I want this to look as fucked up and horrid as possible to prevent them from ruining the one at WDW.

Ive said this in other sites already but ive seen cement factories when going on the freeway with more cohesive and imaginative facades than this piece of shit.

Theyve completly destroyed the wenie look it had from buena vista street.
Joe Rohde should be fucking ashamed of what he did with the tower, even if he was forced by the higher ups.

I guess I get it. I just don't think I'd really be bothered.
