She's supposed to be...a researcher...a media critic...right? So in some ways she's like a scientist.
Reproducing characteristics of her physical likeness in a game is.....I don't know...it misses the point, I guess.
How many times do you focus on physical attributes with scientists / sociologists? It's pretty uncommon to make that the centerpoint.
I can see where you're coming from, but I think you may be over-thinking it a little bit. I just find it to be a warm and nice gesture myself. It would be hard to make her a *character* based solely on her work/thoughts.
Had they made her into a boobalicious doll, that would be something else of course. But here she just looks sharp, smart and awesome.

Had no idea she had this much support.
Haven't really followed the controversy, but I did catch her saying a few pretty obvious lies.
So this is weird to me.
Em, how else could one make a visual tribute to a person?
Am I wrong in rthinking this being a Ms. Male Character trope? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYqYLfm1rWAWe’re very excited to immortalize Anita in a small way, as the alternate Last of the Order.
Well...I'd prefer something other than a visual tribute for someone who has made her name by her work and nothing else.
Her physical features are completely inconsequential...so to make that the highlight of the tribute....
Whatever it's late I'm going to bed.
To the untrained eye maybe, but to others a plaid shirt and hoop earrings will either:It doesn't look anything like her...
The original Blue Archer is also female, so no it isn'tAm I wrong in rthinking this being a Ms. Male Character trope? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYqYLfm1rWA

Plenty of guys missing the point of being "loosely based". Saying "She looks nothing like Anita" is like saying "That vampire looks nothing like Alucard!"
Haven't heard of this game before, but I like this art style a lot.
so loosely based that it seems pointless as no one will understand its reference
Interesting how they're focusing on Anita *the person* for the tribute when it's really her message and her work that matter here.
I don't know...seems weird.
Her Tropes vs Women in Games video series gave us a valuable new lens through which to assess our character designs.
For people saying it doesn't look like her, it's an existing character with a new costume. It's not meant to phsyically look like her. Hence the hoop earrings and the plaid shirt made into a cape.
This is the character the skin is an alt of:

You're getting stuck on the celebrity word I think. Think of it as more like putting in a person (who's work) you admire.I will never understand the notion of adding character skins of celebrities, even less so of internet celebrities.
I probably shouldn't have bothered finding out how GG supporters are reacting to this.
This just killed what little interest I had in the game to begin with.
Shitty 8 bit graphics, check
> "Multiplayer game of the year" - Chris Plante, check
Yeah, the trash is where this goes
The devs saying Sarkeesian is an inspiration kind of makes me question their competency and very weary of any future games of theirs.
I dunno, I think this could increase sales, given the nature of the game and the opportunity it presents...
That sucks. I was interested and now I'm never going to buy it.
When will developers realize that having controversial Youtube critics that accuse video games and the people that play them as misogynistic is only going to drive away consumers?
I never heard of this game before now... Well, I guess this is the chance to show people that this is an actual consumer revolt, right? And avoid buying the game.
Spread the word everyone.
Sweet, so she's going to be a boring Mary Sue character in yet another lame overhyped "retro style throwback" game that TOTALLY hasn't gotten stale.
I can barely contain my excitement. Truly this is a revolutionary in video gaming history.
I couldn't resist either. The hate is so thick, like the best milkshakes.
same here.A nice gesture.
I'm pretty excited for the Towerfall update; it's my favourite PS4 game.
That was my thought too. They clearly don't realise that it's a skin or that the game is 2 years old. God help them if they realise it was widely considered the only reason to own an Ouya. That last comment is fucking amazing. Like you can tell that person has seen absolutely zilch about the game except what's in the content of the post and maybe the title screen.
"Mary sue" lmfao
"Overhyped" LOL9
I just can't with gamers
that doesn't look anything like her other than the trashy hoop earrings.
I couldn't resist either.

The thing I love about all these comments is that they're over-reacting because of a skin. Not a character, a skin.
Reading comprehensionnnnnn
It's an alternate skin for an existing character
Okay, so less than a skin.Pretty sure the reactions are due to the expressed support of her views by the developers.
But ok, it's over a skin.
