My wife leases a 2014 Prius. I can see her getting excited about this one.

I think it looks pretty cool, myself. I own a 2013 Tundra though, so I'm not in the market.

The closest thing I've seen to an awesome looking AND affordable hybrid is this:

And it's not even affordable. It's like 70k USD.

I don't know what's so hard about making a hybrid with this design language for a reasonable price.

The Model S isn't an hybrid -_-

The reason a lot of these cars have a radical look is because that's partly what made the second and third gen Prius popular. People immediately noticed you and how green you were. The Model S went in a different direction and looks more like a normal luxury vehicle.

Hybrids don't need to be ugly aliens anymore so people "know what you're driving."

As long as the world still spins, the Prius is still hideous.

Well thats definitely a modern japanese car.....tons of lines that dont go anywhere that are just there for the sake of more lines.

.....at least the FR-S/86 is good looking.

Some of the corporate faces brands have nowadays are terrible. This Mirai design language is no exception. Compare it to what they've had in the past and it looks even more ghastly. It seems like every car maker is on the "overly angular front fascia" train, most with gaping grilles. Lexus, Nissan (poor Maxima), Toyota, Lincoln with their hamfisted callback to better days. Mazda got it right, at least, and Honda/Acura are still showing some restraint.

Domestic cars are starting to look better.. ..much better.

Looks fantastic. Way better then the Prius used to look. Shame I still can't sit comfortably in one, I would love to drive this.

Did they get the oil lobbyists to design this car? Just when Toyota started to get better with their new camry and corolla designs, they unveil THIS?

Toyota/lexus designers have gone completely bonkers, following in the footsteps of Acura designers.

Lexus IS looks barely passable in their new design language, but all the larger vehicles that share it look just stupid ugly.

Those are the worst taillights I've ever seen in my entire life. Fire the taillights guy. And why didn't anyone step in and tell him his design is awful? Fire them too.

Looks like ass in all three views. Congrats.

The corners of the front end looks like it was crumpled during a low speed collision.

For probably 5mpg less you can get a TDI (Golf/Jetta/Passat) that doesn't look like ass:

I don't know what Japan is thinking.

Looks like the front uses LED lamps.

Also, the dashboard UI has more color.

Car features a lot of safety sensors.

Expect Toyota to share these components with its other models, so I guess we're going to get used to the look.

Are there any cars coming in 2016 that look great? I feel like it's rare that I see a new car that actually looks decent and is in a normal price range these days.

Dodge Challengers are the only thing that satisfy me.

Edit: Good looks, price, and debatable gas mileage

Looks closer to a 'regular' car while keeping some oddities that will scream out 'prius.'

What they really need to do is make PWR mode standard (or at least, make mode selection retentive) -- 3rd Gen is actually pretty peppy when you set it to that mode, and for non-city driving it's more efficient. Their ECO mode is a sham doesn't really benefit you and is the root cause of the whole "Prius drivers drive too slow" stereotype.

I don't hate it really. Just kind of ambivalent about it. Outside of the exterior though, I do think virtually everything else seems pretty cool. The Prius has always been one of the most technologically advanced cars in terms of features. Will probably take one out for a test drive since gas in California isn't nearly as cheap as it is around the country.

It looks better than any Ford / American car designed in the past 10 years, at least. US car aesthetics are the worst.
Dude get out of here! Nissan and Toyota are the worst offenders right now. Ford, Tesla, hell even Chevy are all making awesome looking cars and have been for at least the last 5 years

Why are they incapable of making a Prius that doesn't look shitty?

Any examples? Everything out of Japan doesn't need a defense force, by the way.

Nice looking car and the color too, but I'm not liking how they designed the rear end.

I feel like they're trying too hard. One of the great things about the Prius is that it's a hatchback and it can haul loads of stuff when necessary, but then they gotta make all this weird design for it.
