Traded my PS3 for a pink DS yesterday

reminds me of my own stupidity...I've sold my ps2 and games once or twice, getting raped like you did, only to buy the same system and new games, losing lots of money.

It's not very wise imo...
 
Hey, I never played the thing, so to me it wasn't like I was getting ripped off when I traded it. I'd been ripped off long ago when I first bought the thing.

And if Bioshock gets announced for PS3, then great. Then the people who missed out on the 360 version can get it. But I wanted to be in on all the fun NOW while its "shit-hot" and 90% of my friends list is playing it.

And lastly, my girlfriend loves the DS. I mean I like it too, but she loves it so much already. That alone has made the whole thing worth it. XBLA games got her interested in gaming, now the DS will suck her in the rest of the way. She's already talking about playing Halo 3 co-op with me. That's gotta be worth something.
 
Should have told GAF you were selling, if you were willing to sell it for $150 I'm sure a someone here would have appreciated it. Hell I would have bit for that price!
 
I think the fact that he actually has a girlfriend (as opposed to probably the majority of people here) who he's made happy already makes him a winner.

WTF I see threads like this all the time. Plus, a buddy encouraged me just to see the responses. To us, it wasn't all that crazy, but we knew GAF would have something to say about it. So far, I'm enjoying a lot of the responses, but there's a lot of people who seem to be taking it personally. That's not me pissing in your Cheerios, folks. Just talking about gaming and stuff. I was under the impression that's what we did here, but I can be a raving asshole too if that's what we're doing now.

the "ripped off feeling" won't really sink in till you buy another PS3 and think back to the day that you flushed $200 dollars, then went to a message board to tell people about it.

So you want to be in fun now?Guess what, few weeks later everybody will forget about Bioshock and traded it in for something else. And mean while GAF will be still wanking over Warhawk which playability last much more longer.

I bought it around launch when PS3 owners were claiming that Resistance was better than Gears of War. I fucking LOVED Gears of War so I thought having 2 5-star games like that would be pretty money. Plus, I played that Motorstorm demo and really warmed up to it. From there, it was pretty much like this:

Me: Well, PS2 is the dominant console right now. Should only be a matter of time before PS3 takes the throne. Those two games should be a good start. I'll get those and wait for the '07 lineup to roll in.

Me 6 months later: Well, Tekken is pretty cool. Wish more people playing Resistance used a mic. Kinda wish Motorstorm was a little different. Oh well, the E3 stuff will make me feel better.

Me 2 months after that: ....Man, I could trade that thing in and get some decent credit...


I mean am I supposed to feel obligated to keep something just because it was expensive? Fuck that. I don't play Blu-Ray movies (usually go to the theaters and I don't buy DVDs/movies anymore) so what am I supposed to do with it if I'm not playing games?

I'm not mad at anyone's responses, just wanted to explain some stuff. No hard feelings, but I'm bowing out of this one now. You guys can take this thread whereever. I got all I wanted out of it.

You ripped yourself off. TWICE. Because you purchased a PS3 the first time, stupidly not researching what SIX HUNDRED DOLLAR thing you were buying. Then you were ripped off again because you sold it for half that when you decided to randomly toss it out the window because you couldn't wait a few months for the next big thing for the system.

What happens when something "shit hot" comes out for PS3, and 90% of your friends are playing THAT game and you can't afford it, and then when you finally do they'll all have been moved on!

I hope not to offend anyone, but Girls who play video games scare me. Just like the case of the guy who wanted to propose via Katamari, I wonder about the health of a relationship that involves lots of gaming.
