I thought I was still watching the Fast and Furious trailer after I clicked on the GIJoe trailer. That's what's wrong with most of these movie trailers. Their visual style and subject matter all bleed into this homogenized formula of sameness. The sad thing is this formula will continue to sell for many years still. " Shit the economy is in a slump, what sold really well last year?" said the studio exec and the audiences continued to vote with their money.

Transformers 2 ad looks awesome - can really get you hyped, and is what I'm looking for in a Transformers movie - action and visual eye candy...

G.I. Joe's action looks interesting, but man I hate the costumes - what happened to that big shot of Snake Eyes in that ultra-sleek muscle suit? Now he looks like he's wearing some fat padded foam and some baggy running pants - and everyone else has these terrible-looking all-black padded suits and you can't tell who is who... jeez...

Never heard about Year One before, and the trailer was trying a bit too hard to be funny at the end...

Fast and Furious didn't do anything for me at all, even if it was the same trailer I saw before...

Up has some incredible quality - not interested in it, but I love its visuals...

Star Trek - don't like Star Trek at all whatsoever, but it looks great - my brother should love it...

That's been Hollywood for decades man, and it's only going to get worse as we, as a culture, become more introverted, politically correct, greedy (let's keep everything at PG to maximize profits), and generally fucking things up.

And that's why Rambo fucking rocked.

Finally a good old fashioned Hard R, well by 70's and 80's standards, action flick. :D

I didn't know Dr. Who was in GI Joe, now I'm sad.

Still think the only way GI Joe will be any good is if there's a PSA at the end.

Well at least it's the good Doctor, and not that idiot with the faux hawk they just replaced.

It would be so awesome if they snuck one in after the credits. :lol

Bay is able to recreate that feeling for some of us who grew up in the 80s with Transformers in our childhood. Whether he gets some things right or wrong isn't the point to us, there will always be haters with everything in life but he's able to recreate that magic and because of that, he succeeds.

Try not to speak for all of us please.

For my money I'd rather just continue ignoring Bayformers and read the comics based off of the stuff I grew up with that still resembles the stuff I grew up with; only with kick ass art.

Way cooler than anything Bay begat.

For some reason the CGI in transformers 2 looks like a CGI cutscene from a game, not a $200m movie. It didn't seem like that in the first.

Oh well, it looks good anyway. Better than the fairly shitty first one.

I'm guessing with Year One, that was probably the only scene from the film that is appropriate for all audiences.. meaning it will probably be a good movie.

Just about all of them look watchable. I think I'm most looking forward to Star Trek.

I'm not. Hence, using the word "some." :P

Part of me feels the same way, but I'm contractually obligated (IN MY HEART) to love everything involving David Cross.

alvin and the chipmunks :(

Same, except replace David Cross with Olivia Wilde and Paul Rudd.

Anyway, both teasers look cool, even though I'm not a Star Trek fan and the first Transformers was one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen.

Well, if it makes you feel any worse, there is actually a character called "The Doctor" in the movie.

:lol Just watched that episode today on Season 3 DVD, I love Transformers but I can't not think this now when I see something made by that tool.

Its like how I can't say Matt Damon normally anymore.

Anyway, all the movies look good, I'll prolly go to them all.

Oh, except F&F. No interest in that even if it brings back the old guys!!! (Zomg! I don't care.)

you know, vin diesel is pretty awesome. i wish he got more roles that jibed with his awesomeness.

Yeah, totally. I think I saw a direct-to-DVD movie with him in Blockbuster the other day... I think the tag was "Too Hot for Theaters!" or something.

He has so much potential but a string of awful choices has really ruined his career. Hopefully he can make a comeback.

this is also how i feel about dwayne johnson (who i guess has given up the whole "rock" persona), tangentially. after seeing him in the rundown i really thought he was going to get a big string of great action roles, but it's been a whole lot of nothing since.

on the topic of TRANSFORMERS 2, slashfilm has a little analysis of what exactly sort of transformer that is at the end of the teaser.

You remember that HUGE Decepticon that little ol’ Optimus Prime was hanging off of at the end of the new Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Super Bowl television spot (if you haven’t seen it, watch it NOW)?

Well Transformers fans are pretty much in agreement - what you saw was only ONE of the Constructicons — a group of Decepticons that merge together to form a GIGANTIC Robot named Devastator. It has been rumored that he will be made up of 5-9 different Constructicons. So if that is truly only one of the said Constructicons, this means that Devastator is going to be MASSIVE. So imagine a Transformer nine times bigger than the Decepticon that you saw at the end of the Super Bowl teaser. After the jump I will present the evidence, including a possible photo of the actual toy version of the Constructicon in question.

"steam shovel" transformer toy pictured above, one part of the constructicon amalgam DEVASTATOR. just thought you guys might be interested (?)

Is there a good robot that's that big or is it just gonna like topple a bunch of buildings before he is somehow defeated?

GI Joe looks awesome in trailer form despite those crappy pictures we saw the other day. This might just be a day one for me.

probably a magical cube or something. who gives a shit? giant robots, destruction. it'll be great retarded fun.

that's pretty much the theme of this year's trailers for me (apart from STAR TREK, which i have genuine enthusiasm about): walk in theater, slap on helmet and drool bib, and prepare for total retardation. but the kind of decently made retardation that makes some movies such a blast.

It was Riddick that did his career in. For whatever reason that was considered a real test of his star power, and it flopped.

I don't know why that movie was the determing factor. XXX and Fast and the Furious both did really well before that came out.

I really like Vin, he seems like a really nice guy and he is a hardcore gamer, so it's hard not to root for him.

Maybe Stallone will throw him a bone and give him a spot in The Expendables.

Transformers 2 trailer is making me go out and buy the first one on Blu-Ray later, I'm an idiot for still not getting it yet.

I have a soft spot for Fast and the Furious definitely, I loved every second of that trailer.

I had no idea what the Star Trek and G.I. Joe movies were about (never even watched the shows or anything) and I must say they do look pretty damn good.

I have no knowledge about GI Joe at all, but that part when they are jumping through the bus, flipping over missles, and this pic sold me on that movie. Most bad ass moment in a trailer I have seen so far(this year).
The second most bad ass moment is the entire Transformers 2 trailer. WOW, I want that now. Unless there is already an announced release year, its safe to assume 2009. I loved the first one, and I don't care about everyone's Michael Bay hate. Also, in the T2 trailer, you can see a non Shia male with Megan Fox. Not sure who it is.
And around 0:15 in, when that car burst out of the building, you can see some smaller robots jumping out of it. They are just shadows though.
Up looks to be another Pixar great, I will see it in theaters for sure. Year 1, meh. Land of the

Too bad Michael Bay, of all people, thinks they're too goofy for his super realistic Transformers universe. -_-

Should have gotten it off Amazon for $10 on Black Friday.

Another round of Transformers vomit. Yay.

Year One looked funny. Paul Rudd can do no wrong.

I'm down for Star Trek, though. I'd have preferred a new TV series, but this will do.

Well, he's playing Hannibal in Hannibal the Conqueror:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0382731/

Vin Diesel stars as the Carthaginian general who led an elephant-riding battalion across the Alps to attack Rome in the 3rd Century B.C

And guess what? He's the DIRECTOR of the movie. The writers don't seem that bad. David Franzoni, who did the screenplay for Gladiator and wrote Amistad.

I don't know how Michael Bay does it, but that was one of the most boring and uninteresting action trailers I've ever seen. Same goes for G.I. Joe.

Star Trek and Year One look mildly promising. Although Michael Cera is right up there with Seth Rogen in acting ability. He's just Michael Cera, but with a wig.

Agreed. I used to kind of hate on him because of all the girls going ape-shit over him when he first got onto the scene. But I love the Fast and the Furious, and Vin as Riddick (whether it's PB or COR) is a great character. Not to mention his full support for the Riddick games, it is definitely hard to hate on him. Did I mention his role in A Man Apart? Underrated.

really? really?

Year One's trailer was funny, but Star Trek's trailer was just as bad as either of the other two you named. On the contrary, I think all 3 of those trailers look like they'll be exactly what they are: high-budget popcorn flicks.
