Transformers 3 News Thread of Self-Depricating Thread Creation

Some observations from the teaser:
- Kinda surprised they're going all out with the Decepticon ship fleet. I was expecting that the invasion would be mostly ground occupation with maybe one main mothership (repaired Nemesis). But it seems much, much more large scale than I expected.
- Tentacles? Hmmm....
- The bird is probably Laserbeak right? Looks pretty awesome. I love the new variety of mechs they've built into the movie franchise starting with ROTF. The Insecticon in ROTF was a really nice touch. And Ravage was awesome.
- Lots of mech reuse for the big fights once again. That's a bit disappointing. I clearly see Brawl there, and Long Haul in the background when Optimus is spinning... ugh. Also, lame protoforms all over as filler enemies again. That's something i could do without. Hopefully Shockwave makes a great villain this time though.
- Nice to see Jet Optimus wasn't a one off. I wonder how the transformation "works" though. It seems like his jet parts get cast off once he lands and doesn't need them anymore, just like at the end of ROTF, but how does he attach it back? I wonder if it's the exact same parts (does he recover the parts after each battle?) or if there's a different one-use attachment each time he needs it. Lol.

Duckroll, I think the tentacles somehow have something to do with Soundwave. Do you remember the scene from ROTF in which he hacked a satellite? He used tentacles for that.
I'm really loving the dark Independence Day feeling, the huge Decepticon invasion.
What makes me wonder now however is, how many Autobots will need to come to Earth to save us from this massive Decepticon invasion. I mean, look at how many ships there are in the sky in the trailer.

Damn, another good BayTrailer. Looks I'm going to get suckered a THIRD time into watching this shite. This series is to me the biggest Missed Opportunity ever. But I'll keep watching, hoping, wishing...
I can't imagine how the 3D version won't turn theaters into puke factories, though...

My hopes and dreams for this:
1) Nerf Optimus. No way should he be able to take on Megatron, Starscream AND a third Decepticon at once. Even Starscream alone should give him SOME challenge; Megatron or Shockwave should be a fair fight.
2) Bring in Shockwave as a real usurper to the Decepticon throne. Make him as cold and calculating and deadly as he should be, and Prime/Megatron's equal in power.
3) More drama involving Starscream trying to usurp power. Give him a couple red-shirt Autobots to kill so we know he's not a total pansy (kind of like the most recent cartoon established in its first 10 minutes). But let him get bitch-slapped by Shockwave.
4) Make the Earth military almost completely useless against the Decepticon fleet (i.e. no Devastator getting taken out by a cruise missile).
Notice how the first four have absolutely nothing to do with the human characters whatsoever? That's how it should be. This is a series about Transformers, so make it about the robots, goddammit!
Moving on:
5) Don't shoehorn any stupid human characters like John Turturro's character into the mix. We know Shia and the chick are in it. There will probably be some military guys. We don't need much more than that. The minute I see Turturro on screen, I'm walking out of the theater and waiting for it to show up on cable.
6) No comic relief whatsoever.
If Bay can accomplish most of this list, he'll have redeemed himself for ROTF.

You're setting yourself up for some big time disappointment. This is likely a 2 hour film, the stuff you're describing would take the entire movie to lead up to.
Realistically all I want is more Transformer face time. Have the Transformers just talk to each other more and i'll be happy. In the last two movies, if the Autobots weren't talking to Sam they weren't talking. Absolutely ridiculous. Less human element overall would be nice.

I'm thinking the editing might be a bigger problem. There seems to be anecdotal evidence that cuts need to be less frequent and less jarring in 3D so your eyes can adjust to the new perspective. If Bay does his usual tricks, there could be massive pukeshed in the aisles.

Transformers 3 is going to be the closest we will have in a long time to a super high budget live action Gundam movie.
Sentinel Prime looks like a Gundam out of Gundam SEED or Gundam 00.
Optimus Prime looks like Gundam Double X.
Megatron looks like Crossbones Gundam.
ILM is basically modeling and animating an unofficial Gundam movie here.

I dunno, I think Prime probably has 2 different alt modes. The one in the super bowl trailer, and the one from that toy (used for space? maybe? please?)Monkeylord said:
There is an allowable difference between toy and LA model, but the Prime in the trailer looks nothing like that toy, and the parts definitely look like Jetfires, or something close to them. Plus, I doubt Bay would unveil Primes final form in a super bowl spot.

The Shockwave from the comics would be awesome. He defeated Megatron in 1x1 combat, then held him up and said "I could remove your head from your shoulders and reduce your body to molten slag, Megatron. But you're more useful to me alive."
If it's the nerfed Shockwave from the cartoon, then yeah, not as cool.
I just don't think many people are going to view Shockwave as a threat coming off the Fallen, which was one of the original Primes. Unicron is about the only direction they could go that would one-up the Fallen. Then again, I'm not sure how they're going to handle Shockwave in this one. As someone said, if it's the version from the G1 cartoons, it won't be as good. I still hope Unicron shows up at some point, and is handled better than Galactus. I don't want to see any fucking robot clouds.
