Transformers Dark of the Moon is garbage

Watch the Avengers instead. Same plot, but more coherent.

lol, yes. We`re just arguing which turd smells the least bad.
For me it was the second one hands down. Ghetto-bots were ridiculous and added nothing but eye rolling moments to the film.

There is a ROBOT WHO USES A CANE TO WALK. He is a robot with a bad back...because he's old...

The only part I thought was cool in the whole series was the cat getting ripped in half.

Out of the three it is the least offensive but it also turned out to be the one that dragged. Definitely could've used a solid 15 minutes of chopping done in the editing room.

I thought the graphics were incredible, ILM did a fucking amazing job. I think people take for granted how complicated the Transformers models and even the set pieces like the collapsing skyscraper are. Hate on the story or Bay if you want but when you see the movie you never go "Man these things look so fucking fake." The film was awesome in 3D and the only other movie besides Avatar that I can say was worth watching in 3D. Bay totally changed up his filming style a bit for this. The soundtrack and audio were incredible.

As for plot, it's essentially a twist one of the G1 cartoons. I think a lot of people have nostalgia goggles on for the show they watched when I was a kid. I'm one of the biggest Transformers fans but even the original cartoon was really hokey. For the most part it was a 22 minute animated commercial to sell toys. Considering the source material, I don't see why people get so offended over the plot or story.

Definitely preferred Rosie over McKayla. Megan Fox fucking sucked and stopped being attractive after the first one.

I think the biggest thing is that Bay is very talented when it comes to filming what he wants and how to do it. But he really needs someone else to take over the roles of writing, editing, etc.

The original animated Transformers movie is still the best by the way.

Could not watch it past the first 5 minutes.

Funny, as I enjoyed the first two before I started to care about films. I guess I am now a film snob.

I find this hard to believe since the first 5 minutes actually showed Cybertron, which look fantastic and something I wish we saw more of.

It would be awesome if we had a big budget Transformers movie that actually has the Transformers as main characters.

Bay is coming back for the 4th one right?

Ok, you got me, the exact time I stopped watching has been forgotten.

I do know that it was around the time where the model starts talking. And the parents arrive.

The dialogue was just too shit.

It was better than the second one.. which means absolutely nothing really, seeing as the second one was a total waste of thought.

I still say the first Transformers was a great movie. Yes, I said it, great movie. The "it ruined my childhood" comments always make me laugh. If my childhood self saw that movie during my Transformer craze I would have shat cum all over the movie theater.

Man, that opening sequence with the Kennedy speech and the old footage mixed with new stuff showed so much promise. It was, dare I say it, very well-directed.

And then the rest of the movie happened...

Like I said, when Bay nails something, he really makes it shine. It's like momentary lapses of genius or brilliance.

I like the first one, I hate the second one (except the forest fight) and I like most of the third one. Theres a good 25 minutes that should of been cut.

I loved the first and 3rd transformers movies. Its kinda funny how much the hate is amplified online. I loved the G1 transformers cartoon, and I liked how the 1st and 3rd movies took plots form the tv series, as part of the basis for the story, and a lot of little things from the old series that they put in there. I don't understand any ruining childhood comments, since it really wasn't that far off from the cheesy animated series. Aside from sam I actually liked the human element. I enjoyed that we weren't completely outclassed, and we at least had some weapons that could help us fight the decepticons. So the autobots couldn't win without us, and they couldn't win without our help. I also liked the whole human traitor angle. I think I like the 3rd one more then the first, but the first one has the arrival of the autobots scene, which is probably on my top ten movie moments.

Yeah the hate is intensified so much online. It's cool to hate. But yeah, the arrival of the Autobots on Earth is one of those "brilliant" moments that Bay is capable of. That scene was definitely amazing.

2nd movie was so stupid it made me hate myself

3rd movie was so stupid it made me laugh so much.

2 different kinds of stupidity

The great thing about Michael Bay movies is that even if you lose the thread of the plot, it doesn't matter because the second half of the film doesn't require any understanding.

That's what Dark of the Moon was for me. I've seen it twice now and I don't understand much about what's going on.

But the film is so damn cliche'd that my mind just puts two and two together subconsciously, even when my attention is somewhere else.

I tried - tried - to watch all of this movie on Netflix last night but just couldn't bring myself to do it. I may be remembering incorrectly, but didn't GAF pretty much like this one? Wasn't this supposed to be a big improvement on Revenge of the Fallen? I heard this was a "great action movie." This movie is an incoherent, messy piece of garbage. Michael Bay just needs to stop.

I too saw the movie on netflix & could barely watch it. Painfully bad, one of the worst movies I ever seen in my entire life (that's not hyperbole) & people here were praising it!

You know, I was watching the Nostalgia Critic & his video review of Real Steel.
In his review, he mentions he went to the midnight opening & it was packed with high school kids.
They were going apeshit & clapping at everything like they were watching the original Rocky for the first time in 1979.
The good robot boxer gets into the rings *cheers & applause*. The good robot boxer hits the bad robot boxer *cheers & applause*.
The bad robot boxer hits back *loud shocked awes & worry from the audience*.

The answer to the OP is little kids & teens. Not very smart or coherent little kids & teens.
They seemed to be the large movie going audience nowadays.

That skyscraper collapsing sequence felt like it lasted for 2 hours.

Ugh, such terrible pacing.

I remember zoning out in the theatre during this scene. Then zoning back in, and it was still going.

One of the worst movies I've ever seen. Worse than 2, I think. I've only seen them each once in theatres. I actually liked Transformers 1.

I originally thought DotM, while utterly fucking terrible, was still demonstrably better than the absolute stone-dead horrendous RotF. However, when I watched DotM again on Blu-Ray (with Rifftrax), I realized that I couldn't decide which was worse. They're both awful movies but in such very different ways.

I think the first movie is pretty decent, and would actually be rather good for what it is if they'd cut out the entire DoD/hackers subplot nonsense. But the sequels are some of the most insultingly terrible examples of cynical cashgrab filmmaking I have ever seen. Honestly I am astounded when people admit to liking or enjoying the sequels. It's like they don't understand that there are some things you should keep to yourself for the good of your own reputation.

I like how Bay tries to make the Army guys look at all effective. I guess its the price you pay when you get tons of shit free from the military.

This is what I don't understand. How could so many people hate it yet the box office numbers say different? This must be the loudest minority group because people who like it don't exist.

See also: The Star Wars prequels.

On the way out of Revenge of the Fallen I overheard three separate people say it was the best movie they'd ever seen. The mass audience clearly isn't demanding followups to The Godfather here.

Better than Rises at least.

Considering that I was very disappointed in Rises but relatively surprised by TF3, I don't find this to be a terribly outlandish statement.

Clearly Rises is technically a better movie-- it has better acting, better dialogue, some character development, etc. but those aren't the only aspects of a film and when you're comparing what are essentially two really dumb summer blockbuster movies made to entertain, I'd say it's totally fair to state that you enjoyed TF3 more.

TDKR had a lot of stupid junk in it. So does TF3. It's not like we're comparing TF3 to The Dark Knight or something.

Huh?

There are plenty of terrible plot moments in DOTM, but at least, cut down to a paragraph, the plot makes a bit of sense – Prime finds a father allegory, he turns out to be evil and wants to take over Earth and enslave humanity to stripmine Earth in order to rebuild his homeworld as it turns out heÂ’s a racial supremacist. He tries to teleport Cybertron to Earth to make this easier and the Autobots stop him.

Whereas ROTF… where to start? Two moron robots find an old robot hiding in a museum who takes them to Egypt and reveals the robot devil was imprisoned there for a bit in a prison his peers made up of his corpses (until he wasn’t) and he’s trying to build a machine to eat the sun. Then Prime dies, but it’s okay because Sam wishes on a star and Rainbow Brite… sorry, the Matrix magics out of thin air, revives him, and then the old robot kills himself to give Prime a rocket back so Prime can shoot everyone now he’s… erm… slightly higher up. The end.

Neither plot makes much sense, but I really can’t see how you’d regard ROTF’s as better than, well, anything.
The Decepticons' plan in DOTM was fucking retarded. So they're going to try and occupy Earth despite the final battle demonstrating that Earth's military is more than a match (and most certainly would of driven them out eventually) for the Decepticon? Epps's men almost single-handily take out Shockwave for fuck's sake and military cruise missiles are more than capable of taking out Decepticon ships yet Megatron and Sentinal thought it was a good idea to, not only invade Earth, but occupy it and enslave humanity? Really? At least The Fallen had a sound plan i.e. kill Optimus, find the Matrix, and destroy the Earth's Sun to get the energon.

Edit: Another thing that bothers me about DOTM is why the fuck the military had such a hard time breaking into Chicago when apparently all you needed to do was just drive right in. So stupud.

I don't regret watching it one the one time in a 3D screen. It wasn't completely awful like TF2, kind of a good time.

But that's it, I'm not watching it ever again.

Transformers 1 is a decent movie. I said it, I went there. It's got a competent script and a handful of genuinely entertaining moments , uses the robots nicely. Like a solid 3 star effort ... out of 5 stars.

Transformers 2 is a piece of shit, the plot makes no sense, the action is impossible to follow , the "humor" is downright insulting and ... it really just exemplifies every single thing wrong with hollywood in a single 135 minute turd. A 0/5 film if there ever was one.

With that said, ANYTHING, literally except the exact same movie , would be a step up for a 3rd entry in the series.

Transformers 3 is just a dull poor film. The script doesn't stand up well to plot point scrutiny but at least you aren't scratching your head about why things are happening in this one and the humor is still poor but it's not racist and insulting like the previous entry. TF 3 is like a 1.5 or a 2 star film at best. Frankly I think you could just watch the original entry and be done with the series.

I really loved how they made Leonard Nimoy, a Jew, take a big steaming dump on the pinnacle of his career by dragging it into this shitfest and having him use it to endorse the holocaust.

Oh wait, not love. What's the opposite of love? Right, hate. I hated that.

Better than 2. But my own fecal matter >>>>>>>>3>>1>>>>2

3 had the decency to have at least a coherent first half, didn't have as many god-awful metal-screeching sounds like 2, and neat surprises from Patrick Dempsey and Frances McDormand who gave ballsy "I'm really trying to act here" performances.
