I will concede hot chicks everywhere falling in love with Sam, because apparently he is Autobot Jesus.

Also the Matrix of Leadership is a key to a super weapon (what?!) How is a key to a super weapon a physical representation of leadership?
:lol So true. There was no correlation between name and function at all.

Transformers aficionados: are the structures that harvest energy from suns canon in any way? I feel so ridiculous asking that question :lol

You should probably watch the Japanese versions of those movies (notice how I say movies). You might just be crying out the names of Haim Saban, and Shuki Levy in disgust afterwards.
I'm kind of scared to go further than that to watch the original films they condensed though, I fear said raping of childhood :lol

Not all of us have an encyclopedic knowledge of Transformers lore like you Steelers fans.

The Steelers and Transformers are like my favorite things ever.

Anyway, everyone rewatch the trailer again then look at this image.

If you don't what that is, i'll explain in detail (while pitying the lot of you.)

they any good?

Armada's actually a pretty good series once its second half gets going (although the dub is very wishy washy because of incredibly rushed production schedules). Energon is trash. Cybertron is the overall best of the three.

gave animated a try, loved it

If you liked Animated, no you'll probably hate them. :lol They were all anime, and TF anime are notoriously bad-to-mediocre. The real killer was that the dubs were atrocious because Cartoon Network forced them to get them on the air before they were ready, to the point where they dubbed episodes before the animation was even finished, and the Japanese episodes came out after the dubs. :lol

I personally like them because I think they have good stories, but they're sort of...objectively bad. Fun concepts that had terrible execution. Armada starts out horrific and slowly gets better until you get the last 13 or so episodes where Unicron enters the picture, and the last couple episodes are some of the best TF around I think. Energon starts off great and then falls apart really badly halfway through. Cybertron is probably the most consistent all around, but it's also the most anime-ish. If you like that, you might want to give them a try, but otherwise...just read the TFWiki synopses.

Well, in the series the whole thing that the Decepticons were always after was Energon. I don't remember them ever talking about the machine required to extract it, but it was pure energy taken from any number of sources (including oil refineries iirc)

Can someone explain what "Dark of the Moon" even means?

"(astronomy) The time period of approximately a week at the time of a new moon, when the light of the moon is absent at night. Any period in which the light of the moon is obscured. " - Answers.com

Looking at it, it does sort of resemble Rodimus.

So we can have a whiny-ass, emo Autobot leader? Was Rodimus ever in anything other than the G1 cartoons? he was a badass in the movie but by the second episode of season 3 I wanted his ass dead.

Liked the first, didn't like the second. This one looks much more promising than ROTF. I'll see it in a theater like I did the other two because Michael Bay's movies come alive on the big screen.

Megatron used one in the G1 episode "Changing Gears".

Had nothing to do with the Matrix though.

He became the Autobot leader after Optimus died again in Headmasters, the first Japanese sequel to G1. There he was just sort of a traditional Japanese stoic leader. There was also a Rodimus in Transformers: Energon, where he started out as a rival of Optimus and actually
wanted to resurrect a zombified Unicron to use his power to reconstruct destroyed planets
, but Energon's an alternate universe series. He had a cameo in Transformers: Animated where he got taken out by some cosmic rust.

Gigantic brass knuckles for Unicron?

Am I the only one that loved Armada? I still have a bunch of the action figures of that series. Fucking minicons.

No, I actually love it, but it's because I was 13 when it came out and I have a lot of fond memories of it. :lol The show itself is undeniably terrible though, in terms of its animation and dubbing. Luckily it had such great characters that I stayed with it, and the plot gets exponentially better once you get past the first story arc.

I've watched the originals after seeing the movie and the movie is still enjoyable. I rather enjoy the cheesy corny jokes the dub had :lol

the crashed ship is the ark i can see that, i think the dude in yellow is a good guy, like a saviour, he has the writing on the protruding blade on his head so maybe a prime of some kind, deffinitly not shockawave as shockwave is purple..not hod rod, hmm alpha trion then i guess? or could not be primus as too small

Armada. Three shows from the early-mid 2000s (Armada, Energon, Cybertron) formed a series called the Unicron Trilogy.

edit: Here's the guy's face in case you guys didn't notice his Optimus antennae.

I get a real Prime vibe from that head shape.

The robot designs in these movies are seriously ugly, goddamn

I mean, I still would, but she looks like a washed up, B-grade Megan Fox.
Washed up? She's only a Victoria's Secret Angel, that's all. Right.

Fox doesn't even get work.

I'm hopeful that that is a sign Michael Bay has matured as a director.

I'm probably hoping for too much.
What do explosions have to do with maturity as a director? You have giant robots with guns for arms fighting eachother and people holding guns with their arms shoosting at them. Then you have planes with guns on their wings shoosting at those guys from above. Why WOULDNT there be explosions?

IMO The more-than-just-decent character designs in the series:
TF2BaySideways1.jpg

Sideways... but you never saw him like this so I guess it's kind of invalid.

Transformers-20090622-demolisher-concept.jpg

Demolisher. Looks cool, pretty original kinda design.

300px-Revenge_of_the_Fallen_Sideswipe.jpg

Sideswipe. GG, Bay.

+ Brawl, but I can't find a good picture of him. Oh and Jetfire Prime for the sheer awesome contained in there.

lol he is on heelys,

best desinged robot in the series for me was ravage, and blackout was pretty decent, ironhide as well except the mouth

Trailer didn't show a lot. Gave us a basic idea of the plot, which doesn't matter much to me. Unless it's magically good for this one. The first was a freaking great popcorn flick. Hope this one can live up to that.

But seriously, this title...very bad.

They work flawlessly? How do they work flawlessly when I can't even tell who is who, and where one robot starts and the other ends when they're fighting?
This sounds like an old school Transformers 1 argument. Bay knew that the fights were in too close during in the first movie. Horrendously close. He addressed this and pulled the camera way back in the second movie and because of that, we got amazing scenes such as the forrest battle in the second movie.

Everytime someone on Gaf suggests something "better" for a movie it always ends up sounding boring. Imagine the design in the video Dali posted used in this film. The first transformation in the first Transformers movie (which was fucking amazing) wouldve been a shot of a helicopter opening and standing up. It wouldve been the most unimpressive thing to see and that scene wouldnt have had to impact it did.

TFW2005 has a pretty comprehensive snap shot of everything in the trailer. In one of the shots, I think I can see an Autobot logo on the floor of the ship. The image is here.

It astounds me that the local graphics whores take their illness as far as calling any of the Michael Bay Transformers movies good. Shiny metal things and crunchy clanking noises does not a good movie make. Especially when populated by intolerable douchebag characters. In fact I'd easily nominate them as the worst movies of this decade.

And I'm sure this will manage to be worse. Bay got a pass twice now and he can pretty much shit out anything at this point and see a return.

One thing that made me dislike the previous Transformers movies was the stupid shaky camera in battle scenes. I couldn't even tell what was going on, and it always made my eyes hurt. I really hope Michael tones it down a bit in this film.

I honestly hope both the Ark and the Nemesis are repaired towards the finale of the movie, and at some point we get an all out space battle between the two flagships. Holy shit that would be cool. :D

That's who I'm assuming that's supposed to be.

This is going to be terrible.

Why would the villain of the film be a survivor on the Autobot flagship which crashlanded on the moon, found in the 60s?

Shockwave is back on Cybertron. He rules the planet.
