"ruthless deception oppressor" kind of makes me roll my eyes after reading the current comics' more interesting take on him

Oh yes, there was a Wheelie, a horrid little thing voiced by Spongebob himself whose defining moment was humping Megan Fox's leg.

oh fuck i forgot about that

Hey Bay, remember when you had an actual creative idea and made Soundwave, the best Decepticon ever, a satellite? Do you also remember that you didn't even use a vocoder and he ended up talking like Doctor Claw?

Then you fucked it up again by having him do nothing in either Transformers 2 or 3. Fix that and I might go see this one, or did he die in Transformers 4?

What? Soundwave was integral to the plot in Dark of the Moon. He was one of the main Decepticons in the movie.

I'm never hearing Stan Bush in these movies am I? I'll settle for "Dare" and "Instruments of Destruction".

Dann that soundtrack was great!

Really? All Soundwave did was send his bird to do stuff than get killed by Bumblebee.

Wait, are you thinking of SHOCK-wave? Because yeah, he and his giant dumb worm were the primary bad guys in Dark of the Moon.

Look how distinct they are! You can totally tell who is who in a giant fight! :P

You know, to be honest, I'm subconsciously mixing stuff from the comics into the movie. His role is bigger there since he's in charge of the whole operation on Earth for decades to protect the Ark and make sure the human collaborators don't spill the beans.

He was still one of the four prominent Decepticons in the movie though (Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, Shockwave).

Also those designs are completely distinct.

It's sad when Autobots die. Most of them seem so humble and angelic in these movies.

Mainly because they hardly get any screen time to build any real personalities.

Edit: I thought Sideswipe was the one getting cut in half. Nevermind.

Hahaha what? Optimus Prime is like a brutal killer in these movies.

Hot Rod! ...aaaaand Drift, looking a hell of a lot creepier than his comics counterpart. If there's going to be Hot Rod, there better be some Ultra Magnus.

Obligatory comment for Transformers tragics to read IDW's Last Stand of the Wreckers and More Than Meets The Eye. The latest issue was incredible - and devastating - in equal measure. James Roberts, you beautiful bastard.

He wasn't even the primary bad guy. Or was he? Fuck.

Time to re-watch...maybe...

Didnt it get revealed that pre release DoTM Sentinel was known as Ultra Magnus? I personally am not counting them bringing in Magnus unless they keep Prime off planet so long they need a temp replacement for him.

Is Optimus still going to have a mouth in these?

I just prefer him muffled through his mouthpiece.
Given the recent cartoons and what they've said in the past I can't imagine they change it now.

Luckily Comics and Figure Primes still mostly have the plate.

That's Sideways the R8 getting cut in half, Sideswipe is the Corvette that's doing the damage.

I didn't watch Age of Extinction, was Sideswipe even in it?

Well, aside from the Decepticons you had Sentinel Prime who betrayed the Autobots.
I only remember drifter Megatron and Sentinel Prime getting any focus as villains. Also Patrick Dempsey

Probably one of the fifty or so that got murdered off screen

So they're doing Rodimus in this... Arc? I don't know I would think Bay would let him actually be a character first but what do I know he's the one that's made 8 billion dollars off this shit.

Age of Extinction was such a great step in the right direction with regards to Transformer designs you could actually recognize. They used a lot of colour to help distinguish each of them, just like the cartoons did, and it worked. It was the first time I could actually tell what the heck was going on and who was fighting who.

The designs in the OP are merely the characters from that movie, so that's a good thing. Finally introducing some continuity to the characters outside of Megatron, Bumblebee and Optimus is something that the franchise has been sorely lacking.

I thought Age was terrific, so I have high hopes for this one. Considering the Dinobots were also Knights, this makes me wonder what's happened to them in between the two films.

If this one is about Prime's journey to find his creators, that will be pretty badass. Introduce the Quintessons, and the next natural step... is Unicron.

He should have been in the last movie in a way. Galvatron was totally botched. Given he was a white Prime knock-off, he should have been called Ultra Magnus and started as a good guy human-made "replacement" for Prime. And then, whoops, we find out the secret and he renames himself Galvatron.

That would've arguably been worse

Well, I don't know that that movie could have been worse, but there was zero tension surrounding Galvatron. They spoiled his origin way too soon, and it was instantly clear he was going to be evil. They could have tried to at least do something creative with him.

Yeah but Galvatron is and always should be another form of Megatron and without Unicron that was actually a pretty good alternative, character and design sucked but his origin was fairly creative. Don't need to ruin an autobot like Ultra Magnus for a lame twist like that, especially after the sentinel prime twist which also was pretty good. Would've been a retread of the film before.

As great as that would be it would:
Be botched
Be the most expensive movie ever because CGI
Melt ILM's computers.
Yeah probably, but there are options. With the right style, miniatures would be an option for some of the larger sets and robots. Could be amazing.

I was just wondering like yesterday why more films didn't still use miniatures. Wouldn't be a bad idea but I doubt bay would go for it, doesn't seem like he'd be interested in that sort of film making.
A 1:1 adaptation of the movie in bayformers is something I'd love so much though.

A better subplot would've had Galvatron actually being a different person working under Tucci, going out and being a public hero until the "Megatron" side slowly takes over and reprograms him.
